nice example man. i really miss my 65. rusted beyond my skill and pockets. scrapped it back in 88 or 89. now with c-list and ebay i would have at least managed to save parts to help another merc owner. thanks for the trip
@ezernut9mm THANKS most of them rusted bad in the lower rear quarters even mine had some rust but had them redone years ago and some were even had frame issues where the rear frame broke form severe rust especially in eastern Canada and USA where a lot of salt was used on the roads.
A 352? Something is wrong. thats got to be a real piss-ball on the freeway. The plug ugly rear roofline doesnt help. My uncle had a 66 with a 410. One sunday my cousins came upon a family on the freeway. As they passed one of them produced a cat. He held the car out of the open rear window for the girls in the car to see. The cat died as my cousin raised the window. The dead cat shot off the decklid as we flew by. the old man in the car nearly had a stroke.
I have just bought a 65 Montclair, Canadian Car. Identical to yours but all turquois in colour. 18,000 on clock. Rebuilt engine, driveshaft, exhaust system and more. Interior upholstery and carpet is v good apart from a tear in the dash and some discolouration on the front doors armrests. Body is straight but paint is v dulled and chipped in places. Giving her a paint job next week and a white top roof. Your car looks great.
@Rusty69ification It's good to see there are more Montclairs out there I used to see a lot around years ago but they all seem to have vanished. Mine still has the original engine& tranny the engine had new rings and bearing installed in 1978 and was painted in 1975. You should put it on u tube to see it.
@monarch1957 My car was owned by 2 generations of the same family who drove it from Anmore to Port Moody regularly (a short drive) and not much further. She is going in for paint tomorrow for the week...I will give the chrome a polish next weekend and put it on youtube...
@smellytoilet1996 It would be nice to see classy american built cars again. They charge 10 times the amount now than in 65 and get a lot less metal. Thanks for commenting.
Thankyou My dad had a 64 4 door breezeway and this became available so bought it and kept it ever since. Excellent flow through ventilation just open the rear window and front lower dash vents.
@usc32tb Hi I don't know of a fender but I know of a guy that was to give a 65 Merc Meteor away for making a donation to charity. The fenders would be the same.
Thanks i's mostly original except for the front seat cloth redone in the 90s and repainted in the 70s other that that it's original wioth some Park Lane trim added. It's got a little over 105,000 miles on it.
Thanks. They are rare here as I have the only one in townm as I haven't seen any others. They must be extremely rare in England as you only had small cars there, I was there years ago and found that big american cars were few and far between.
Hi Jack: There were some differences between the U.S & Canadian Mercs the Canadians Mercs came with a 352 as Standard and some even came with a 240ci six. The side moulding were not on the Canadian Montclairs but on the U.S. Montclairs and a 4 door hardtop was not available in the Montclairs here. Barry
Very nice, and particularly because it is still very original, including the interior. Very seldom do you see cars in this original condition. My bet is that there were production differences between the U.S. and Canadian produced Mercurys! :) Jack
was this car put together?.i only ask becuase it has parklane moldings on the trunk lid and the front fenders should have 5 chrome spears on it not 4 for a montclair .and a factory chrome strip that come's out of the middle fender spear and goes all the way back and under the montclair emblem ...and it should have the 390 motor with the pent roof valve cover's on it with the word mercury written out and a litghning bold under it
Love the air freshner LMAO!!

@dicarlo57 All the Canadian Mercs Fords and Meteors came with a 352 as standard some ordered the optinal 390's. That's funny about the cat.
