If you do it is fast out of the gate, but if your off on the throttle at all it just bogs down from the all wheel drive.

the mustang is a vert so its way heavier, plus it would win 1/4mile, the gay steep gearing in little imports gave it the jump start cause they have no torque and need high gearing to be any good

Did someone say get the legacy in auto? Unless you plan on paying 3k for a transkit, the manuel is much better. I would not suggest getting the slushbox in any model subaru, unless its grandmas!

believe it or not when I was buying my legacy outback the turbo models were only available with 6-speed auto trannies. maybe he had no choice but to go with an auto.
Let me tell you some facts about this run. The Mustang GT was a fully modded manual transmission that was beatin constantly in the upper speed. Legacy is only pushing 236whp and automatic transmission. When the light turned green, all I did was push the gas down and passed the Modded V8's. I did not brake boost or anything as you can see how the Mustang had the jump. The legacy is not a drag car.. the Mustang is.
The mustang isn't any more 'drag car' than yours. WTF does fully modded mean? You must not be big into the real world of racing. That year mustang sucked since they were 4.6 V8s, and pretty heavy. I drove one once and almost cried it was so disappointing. A stock '93 5.0 5-speed will run 9.7 at a 7500 foot elevation.
@XLeezardx the 4.6L engine is still Grossly underpowered, as well as being a heavy body. Mustang has the top speed, an eighth mile strip is all about acceleration.

If you want to argue against Mustangs, I have a 1982 emissions crisis-era Mustang with the original 302 (rated at 157 hp) with nothing more than a mild cam, shorty headers and dual exhaust and I did 14.20s @ 97.7 mph (9.09 @ 77.5 1/8) a few nights ago in Phoenix, AZ. I don't believe that. I have a lightly modded 02 mustang and I have beat STI's easy. I own both a Subaru and a Mustang and they were both built for their different purposes but in a straight line, the Mustang has it but I with a lightly modded suspension in my mustang, the Subaru isn't far in front of that either. a 9.6ish in an 1/8th, that still another entire 1/8th infront of you. It sound like it was a bone stock mustang and the guys probaby still didn't know how to drive.
the 05 and 06 legacy gt had an awsome 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, then in 07 subaru decreased the horse power in all their cars by 8 and the 0-60 went up to 6.1 seconds. i can't understand why they did that.
Wrong....the power has stayed constant and the motor has not changed. They have all had 243hp stock, in 07 they changed the "machine in which they are measured" if you like, an 05 gt does 60 in about 5.3 seconds...an 08 gt does 60 in about 5.4 (due to some extra wieght) the 6.1 figure is from the 5EAT automatic transmission.

Congrats on the LGT. Not often you see them race on a track instead of the streets. I like both cars but stang is over rated and most ricers will downshift on you in a hearbeat vs the lgt.
depending on what stage he is in with the 5eat leggy, I am guessing mid 13's or the modded manual stang can't drive his car. I'm stage 2 and my same year tranny and color leggy is doing 13.8 with 3/4 tank of gas, no brake tq, and all interior and trunk items in the car.

the 05 and 06 legacy gt had an awsome 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, then in 07 subaru decreased the horse power in all their cars by 8 and the 0-60 went up to 6.1 seconds. i can't understand why they did that.

Wrong....the power has stayed constant and the motor has not changed. They have all had 243hp stock, in 07 they changed the "machine in which they are measured" if you like, an 05 gt does 60 in about 5.3 seconds...an 08 gt does 60 in about 5.4 (due to some extra wieght) the 6.1 figure is from the 5EAT automatic transmission.

The non-turbo Legacy, Forester, Impreza, and Tribeca are built in Indiana. All turbo models (including the Legacy GT) are built in Japan.

the legacy actually is not a very well made car IMO. Read up on the reliability issues it has.Not to say the mustang is any better, but what country the car is from does not matter.

Stock for stock probably even. 01 Cobra would destory the Subaru on dry pavement only. Suabru would destory an 01 Cobra on dirt, Mud, Water, snow, and ice.

'95 Legacy here... I took beat an '06 Cobra on dry pavement, there were turns, but the pavement was dry.

Congrats on the LGT. Not often you see them race on a track instead of the streets. I like both cars but stang is over rated and most ricers will downshift on you in a hearbeat vs the lgt.

depending on what stage he is in with the 5eat leggy, I am guessing mid 13's or the modded manual stang can't drive his car. I'm stage 2 and my same year tranny and color leggy is doing 13.8 with 3/4 tank of gas, no brake tq, and all interior and trunk items in the car.

Realize this: Dr. Edward Demming, an American was the guy that taught the Japs all they know about quality. Second: Honda & Toyota quality doesn't mean Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, Mitsubishi or the like have followed suit. Third: Even when JD Powers shifts the quality seat to GM or Ford, the brainwashed public do not shift with it. It's a matter of marketing.
