  • Skip the crapfeist that is Metroid: Other M and just play this, it's practically the same story, same setting but with a better story, soundtrack, visuals and more.

  • This is the best metroid game I have played (I have Super Metroid but have not yet played it)

  • no, no, no!!! this is the REAL rewiew:

this game is so freakin' good!!!! i still remember when i heard that mystic/scary sound and right after a GIANT shadow was flying in the background!!!!!! (that boss kick'd my ass =S)

  • this guy talks weird... and not in the mark or derek kind of weird that i like. dunno why, seems like he has trouble reading sometimes. the review is pretty simple, not really in depth like derek's reviews... ok i guess.

  • this game is good. It's more "linear" because you aren't on a planet. Samus is on a spaceport, over run by a species which replicates those it victimizes. Only the computer on the station is left in tact as a guide, giving orders corresponding with Samus' dispatchers, or Central Command if you're a Star Trek dork (as am I; Q kicks ass. Oh, if you hate Star Trek TNG, at least watch an episode entitled 'Q-Who'. Awesome show).

  • Maybe I'm not hardcore enough or have a deep connection with video games on a personal level and instead enjoy them for what they are, but I didn't really mind the story and linearity that much. I dunno, maybe I like Samus enough to learn a bit more about her...at least in fusion I don't think she's a woman obsessed over a butch. I don't remember because it's been a while since I picked up the game.

  • personally I think this is a great game

  • I don't understand why Nintendo didn't bother making a Metroid game on the Nintendo 64... "Metroid 64" would have a nice ring to it as well.

  • @sonicmario64 I think they were developing one but the director died in a car crash or something, so it got into development hell.

  • @sonicmario64 I never thought of that before. But now that I have the idea implanted in my head it is stuck there.

Another case of shoulda coulda woulda.

  • This makes me want to buy a Nintendo Gamecube and Game Boy Adapter.

  • The spider boss ruined the game.

  • Well done.

  • I've had Metroid echoes for 7years and I'm still stuck on the same base.

To make a long story short I bought Metroid Prime and felt better, that is until I got stuck on

another base on Metroid Prime. 0_0

  • review grim fandango!

  • The visuals in this game kick ass! I think this game still looks awesome! You know kids, when I was young, we were blown away by this shit. We were DAMN happy to have games like this on a handheld. We didn't have anything even remotely like PSP or 3DS. DS was quite impressive at the time as well, but until GBA we were playing 8-bit handhelds. GBC was only slightly more powerful than NES. There was NGPC, but many stores didn't even carry it.

  • the graphics look sort of like Super Metroid's

  • I could not get into Metroid not because I don't like Nintendo, "I love Zelda" I just have no idea what to do in Metroid games.

  • @joeyseto smae here...but im kinda getting into it now

  • @joeyseto ok

  • @joeyseto the same is for me as well, I could never get into metroid because it just got confusing after a while and its very easy to get lost in those games

  • If your homemade cookies are "fundamentally" worse than storebought, you're doing it wrong :P

  • This was a great game, and an excellent addition to the series. It starts out more linear, but as the game progresses, though it's still technically linear, you end up going places that you did not expect at all.

I'd say it was a fantastic entry, and is missing nothing. It's more unique, but does not ruin what we love about Samus or the series in general (unlike Other M!). It's definitely in my top 3 Metroid games, maybe even my favorite of all time.

  • Fusion is my personal favorite, mostly because of the fact that it does let you know where to go, without directly telling you how to get there, I like having atleast some sense of direction then left to my own devices to figure out how to get there. Super Metroid is a classic in every sense of the word, don't get me wrong, I just had a personal preference to Fusion.

  • I want to get more into this series but as the in-depth story confuses me, which isn't a bad thing, I don't know. I know that Samus was an orphan raised by the Chozo, but I don't know anything but that. Maybe I have to play more of the games, I've only played the original and this one. I REALLY want to get into them more, but I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to absorb the story or characters. Does anybody know a great game in the series? Was thinking about Super or Prime.

  • @MarkThaCat Every single one is a great game, but if you're looking for story, you won't get much from the games with the exception of Other M. Which is the only real 'story' based Metroid game. The Prime games and Super are some of the best games of all time, but I'd just say play them all

  • @MarkThaCat Play all of them, you really don't need to worry about the story at all. If you're looking for a starting point, I'd say Zero Mission or Prime are good places to begin, but you can't go wrong with any entry (but I'd say stay away from Other M and play it as your last... I didn't like the story at all, though the gameplay was pretty good)

  • @5k4k1dhtp Ah, thanks! I just order the Prime boxset for Wii; I plan on buying Super Metroid too. Thanks for saying not to worry about the story too. c:>

  • I remember pre-ordering both games and picking them up on the same day. I called the next few weeks Metroid Mania! lol

  • Hey, i remember your first "Sleepy" review. It's so nice to see that you've improved so much since then. Keep up the good work!

  • @hawk187187 Thanks. I will admit my first reviews were weak but it is reassuring to know you guys think I'm getting better.

  • That's why I don't care about nintendo games anymore. No emphasis on story what so ever. And except gameplay, they don't give me anything else to motivate me to finish the game. Tried Ocarina of time, and again no compelling story to take me through to the end

  • @alirazaakbar1 Just because a game doesn't have 500 unskippable cutscenes doesn't mean they don't have a story, it just means that you don't pay attention to it and made up your mind beforehand.

  • beat this game so many times a grade A title

  • i never finished this game. I had it years ago when it first came out, one day i lost it and i never got a new copy of it. memories...

  • I have to admit, as much as Metroid Prime was a great game, I really didn't think that game was like the best game of that generation, but I digress.

About Metroid Fusion, I remember playing this game when my brother got it and I ended up liking it more than he did. It's probably one of my favorites in the 2D games (with Zero Mission and Super Metroid).

  • Never really got into Metroid besides this game.

  • Here's something I've noticed. The 2d Metroids seem to go along with the 3d Metroids kind of identically.

Metroid=Metroid Prime, On a planet and not sure of what to really do with little plot.

Metroid: Return of Samus=Prime 2 Echos, Darker entries of series.

Super Metroid=Prime 3 Corruption, more grand in scale.

Metroid Fusion=Other M, more linear adventures in a space ship.

That's just what I think, kind of interesting though.

  • Prime 3 is nowhere near what Super Metroid was.

  • @Piehole314 wht about the 1 for the ds?

  • @MrDavidX96 Hmmm... forgot about that one. I guess Zero Mission and Prime: Hunters could be somewhat linked together. I guess I was focusing more on the main entries.

  • @Piehole314 that would make sense: ones a rereleas, the other's a spin off

  • @Piehole314 I'd say they start lining up around super metroid, and metroid prime 2 doesnt have a parallel in the metroid series.

    Super = Prime 1

    Fusion = Prime 3 and Other M

Prime 2 is closer to a zelda game.

  • I got this and played through it in no time when it first came out. The story is what really holds it together since it brings alot of information into Samus background etc. Definitely a classic, playing through it again on my 3DS now, got it as a free download with the ambassador program :)

  • my favorite game *sheds man tears*

  • I was just reading about this earlier today, what a coincidence

  • This game looks awesome imma get it :)

  • great game

  • This is miles better than Metroid Prime because Fusion is actually good.

  • Wow, Ryan, I'm impressed! I don't think I had ever seen any of your reviews before, well, assuming that you've done reviews before this one, but you did great! Like one of the top comments say, you sound very professional without sounding dull and monotonous, and you get your points and criticism across in an interesting manner that kept me watching the entire review.

Great job, man, kudos to you. I hope you do more reviews soon.

  • I love Fusion Soooooo Much! the only problem with it (even though I liked it a lot) is the story. It seems Nintendo has zero idea on how to continue Samus' story line. "SPOILERS"

After crashing the BSL Station and being on the Federations shit list, while also still being infected by X. It trailed WAY off from the "Lone Galactic Bounty Hunter" Storyline... I wanted to know more about what happens... Sadly, it seems Nintendo is NOT up to the challenge (Other M)

  • this is truthfully my favorite metroid game ive ever played

  • Reupload? Caught that editing mistake quickly, eh Ryan?

  • Is what that is missing called nostalgia

  • @arbiter9998

I agree with you 100%. Super Metroid is an excellent game but people need to stop placing it on a pedestal. Fusion is a must play for any platformer fan.

  • THIS was one of the gba games that TOTALLY blew my mind.

  • This was my first metroid game ever. Played it in Toys R US when the GBA first came out and then quickly bought it. Maybe if I had played other metroid games before this my opinion would be different but, this is the best metroid game to date.

  • i till playing the game on my gba emulator but im stuck on nightmare it hard DX but till great game :D

  • I'm surprised he didn't say anything about the dark, unnerving environment of the game.

  • this is the first game i ever got and probably my favorite :D

  • ive played fusion about 4 or 5 times prime only once

  • Good review but y would u compare this HANDHELD game to metroid prime, which is CONSOLE game

  • @RPDstars303 Um, he didn't. Its a fact that Metroid Fusion didn't get so much hype because everyone was anxious for Prime.

  • that analogy at the end was beautiful

  • I have no issue with there being the navigation system, I am sure some folks never got through other Metroid games because of the non-linearity... but there was NO EXCUSE for Nintendo not to have given the option to turn it off, none. This game and Zero Mission totally missed the point of Metroid. It makes me sad, because they both could have been great.

  • To be honest, after Super Metroid, this game MAY be my favorite. Its awesome.

  • I forgot about this game. Damn, it was so awesome.

  • this game is nowhere near as linear as Other M

  • out of the 10 embassador gba games

    this one is my favorite

    this game is freaking sweet

  • the storyline in this game was a big step in the wrong direction and i think it bears a lot of the blame for other m

  • @rainbowcemetery no other m just droped the ball completely i have no idea what they where thinking lmao

  • Prime and Fusion aren't the same because Fusion is better! (But Prime is still a fine game)

  • does anyone else notice that he pauses a lot in his speach? also I love this game I do not own any metroid game so this was my first buy ( 3ds download technacly ) and I Love the game as a first and yes I am aware of better metroid games but as my first awesome

  • I enjoyed Zero Mission a lot more than this. Never actually could bother to finish this version. I might give it another go after watching this.

  • Does anyone knows why my game stop saving files? Now i have to restart the game every time i turn it on and i hate that

  • @tobi1234100 The battery inside the cartridge must've died. I've had the same thing happen with several of my N64 cartridges that I've had since 1998. That may be time for you to get a new copy of the game or else get the 3DS rerelease.

  • Does anyone lnows

  • i remember wanting this game so bad

  • I've played this game so many times, and every time I play it again I discover new stuff, this game is awesome

  • I was just playing this game for the first time last week, but I stoped playing because I got stuck with nightmare :/

  • Nice review.

  • i remember playing this game in my gameboy SP , god i played so many times.

  • @MrHambanana haha me too, amazing game :D

  • @KZrules lol that was a fast reply! yeah good game.

  • I've been meaning to see a review on this game for a while. Thanks for uploading this!

  • This is why Zero Mission is so incredible. Being a recreation of the first game it retains the blind exploration element, but it also benefits from the control refinement of Fusion. As much as I love Super, the Space Jump handles like a tank in that game.

  • @SonofMrPeanut Zero Mission is NOT a recreation of the first game, it is a strongly watered down version of the first game.

  • @SonofMrPeanut XD

mzm takes whats good about sm,the origional, and fusion and pumps it full of steroids.

it is THE best controlling metroid game ever.

the thing i have with mzm... its just..... too short. whats in it is wonderful..... and probably grounds to retcon the origional... but.... super metroid has one thing that mzm doesnt: a huge, massive world.

zebes just feels so much smaller in zm than in sm.

i would love taking super metroid and seeing it build on from zm.

  • @supersmashbro596 Oh, now that I would LOVE to see. ^_^

  • Like Other M, this game has more emphasis on story and is way more linear. Unlike Other M, this game is still GOOD (at least in my opinion). I'd say Super Metroid is the best, then a tie with Prime 1 and Zero Mission, and Fusion would be probably be around the 4th or 5th best.

  • This a great gem for the GBA. The only things I absolutely HATED about Metroid Fusion were the spider boss and the plant boss. They literally drove me to insanity. >__<

  • Every other Metroid exept other M blows in my books. You can't beat a single game wihout a strategy guide, just like Zelda. I praise the linear gameplay of Metroid. Only Castlevania has good exploration which is linear without feeling like it's 100% linear.

  • I'm still trying to beat this game on my 3DS. I beat it twice years ago on GBA, but can't beat it now. I watched a walkthrough and apparently by the time you facus SA-X, you should have 16 bars of energy, 200 missiles, and 40 bombs. I have 9 bars of energy, 150 missles, and 20 bombs. The game won't let me visit anything now. DARN IT!!!

  • @WebVManReturns - I didn't get that close when I finally encountered the SA-X. The most you can get when obtaining 100% is 20 energy expansions, 250 missiles and 74 power bombs.

  • Pfft. This game is far better than Super Metroid, where you had no freaking clue of where to go for what. Without a walkthrough, Super Metroid becomes nearly impossible for new players to figure out. Fusion had a story, character, and a certain creepy feeling. You don't have to be alone on a space station to feel lost and with impending doom right around the corner, even if your map indicates the next target.

  • @SilimsLetsPlays I beat Fusion twice with no guide. For Super Metroid, I had to YouTube search several videos.

  • @WebVManReturns which only further proves my point.

  • I say Fusion is better than Prime.

  • He did a great job on the review, but why the hell does he take so many pauses, like he's thinking about what the perfect thing to say is?? Just read the script!

  • my second favorite Metroid game.

    right after Super Metroid

  • I like this reviewer he is very serious and professional :) A Good change with the other reviewers being somewhat sarcastic

  • This is the only Metroid game I don't own. Well, that, and Metroid Prime Pinball. And technically, I don't own Prime trilogy either, though I own all the Prime games individually.

  • Finished this game about a week ago. One of the greatest games I've ever played!

  • first metroid game i played and owned and loved it.

  • @AnthonyTheAwesome500 Same here! When I defeated it, I felt so triumphant! I felt like I truly saved the galaxy, liked that X Parasite actually died for me, and I was gonna make that beast pay for it.

  • i love this game

  • "Ich hör' so gerne BSL. Tag und Nacht nur BSL."

  • And Fusion is much better than Prime

  • Like totally best.

  • awesome review

  • lol gewd review
