How on earth did i arrive into my 50's without learning of Gondar and it's central role in humanity's maturation?

  • Oh. My bad. Do you know which tribes enslaved which by any chance?

  • i know that there have been times when the "grail of baria fengayinet" has passed from each tribe to tribe in the history of ethiopia but im refering to the time of haile selassie when anyone from south or benishangul was enslaved by amharas mostly am talking about dangila which obviously is located in amhara region right now......and they use to take the locals there and make them blind and sell them......

  • THIS IS NOT TRUE! COME ON NOW!OMG!

  • i wish it wasnt true buddy lol......trust me lots of people in ethiopia have been solved as slaves back in the days......almost every tribe has been opressed by another and one way was slavery .....lol its a known fact that dangila had a huge slave market that may have even connected with north east africa....its basic 10th grade history of the scramble for africa.....lol ....and am sure your all past grade 10 here

  • ethi0nz,

There was slavery in Ethiopia. It is not based on Tribalizem, it was based on ones debt, If a person borrows money and not able to pay the person back, then the person is obligated to his/her lender to pay back by working for his/her lender for some time(it is agreed b/n the borrower and the lender)In other words the person is considered to be "SLAVE" to his lender till he /she pays off her lender. It is not like the salvery in tis country(USA).

  • Okay Mimi thanks for the interpretation sis.

  • ethi0nz

you are well came , yenegeta.. did you here that Telahun has passaed away...so sad...we need Tedy Afro to be free to help us to deal with our loss..what do you think?

  • Yes I heard :( The greatest Ethiopian alive is gone now. Like I said he's with God now. Let's be happy about that. He's not sick and in pain anymore. But yeah I'm sure Teddy is in depressing pain right now. Hopefully Meles let's him go to the funeral.

  • It is true he is in better place than we are.. with the dear lord. Hope TEDDY will be allowed to go to his funeral .. yoou know that TEDDY'S mother was on one off Tilahun's song (yigermal kumenena zala, yegermal yetreswa zelela, akemametachew yigermal abet nitatachew!)

  • @ethi0nz a majority of the slave trade came from West Africa. But some east africans/ ethiopians were sold during the slave trade, especially by arabs. There's a tribal people in Ethiopia, it might be the Omo tribe (I'm not sure if it's that tribe specifically) but there's a tribe in ethiopia that during the time of slavery they would slice their bottom lip almost completely off to look undesirable to the slave trader, and some of the women of that tribe still continue that practice today.

  • @MASSIVE100

WAY BEFORE AFRICANS BECAME SLAVES, the Romans enslaved Europe & the Arabs, the Ottaman Turks enslaved the Arabs, Armen, Kurds & Persians, the English enslaved Irish, Scots & wales,,, etc.

Therefore, instead of lecturing & preaching SLAVERY TO AFRICANS, why NOT try to find out, "WHO WAS ENSLAVING YOUR ANCESTORS"?

    Thank you.
