  • Hahah cool idea! Thanx

  • the second idea is great! the first idea is the thing we use to play, thanx for all ideas'!

  • i'm guessing this would work really well with bloodhounds. i have a bloodhound mastiff cross and was just wondering how well this would work with him? or would outside nose work suit him best since he is native to outdoor tracking?

  • love it :)

  • Now I see what can be done with targeting. I'll be teaching my girls to do that!

  • @OneCrankyFemale thats fantastic..have fun & Thankyou so much for commenting:))

  • Hum?? Tea bag? I do comp obedience and also use MY scent on all kinds of stuff like sticks/ toys/ even leaves!

Is there a reason using tea? Here in the USA we use birch, clove and anese. Sorry about the spelling of the last one.

Do you compete? I love the look of your Sprollie! Does this mix work better than other Border Collie mixes? Border Jacks were really popular here a few years back, Oh.... Also Border Sfaffies too for flyball!

    LOVE your scent you tubes!

    Kim

  • @watchmoivies123 Hi thankyou no dont compete..i just do everything for fun:))) the tea bag idea was out of the 101 dog tricks book by krya sundance.

I didnt itentionaly go for a spollie i just saw this gorgeous litter of pups advertised at agility classes at the time...inca stood out to me as she was the only gorgeous choc one...well 9 wks later she came to our classes as a pup to watch her dad run and still didnt have a home so we took her on. i love the mix so bright and so fun loving:)))

  • Nice work.. Is there oder under the blankets?

LOVE your dog too! Border Collie? Toller?

    Kim

  • @watchmoivies123 Hi Thankyou:)) with the scent clothes i just rub my scent on them and with the big cloth on the floor i hide a tea bag under it and she is searching for the tea bag scent.. My dog Inca is a Sprollie .....border collie x springer spaniel..though not a first cross her dad was a choc tri border collie and her mum was a black and white sprollie...she was the only choc one in the litter and the only one left!! isnt she just simply gorgeous :)))

  • the dog-idea lady is back! another super-duper idea video. Great stuff!

  • @musicofnote1 haha...thanks Leonard...although it is an old one now that just seems to keep coming out, especially when the weather bad!!

  • Over 4000 views!!! wow! great!!!! :)

  • @tdfn lol! thanks Miki...i hadnt noticed...never look at views...thanks for pointing it out..wow!

  • Excellent video!

  • @tmhodge01 Thankyou:))

  • Interesting exercises. We hide only toys: I didn't think it could be so interesting to hide cloth or food. Thank you for ideas! :)

  • @NikolayevKirill Thankyou...yes dogs love food been hidden..will be doing a vid more on this later:) If you look at some of my other vids you will see the scent cloths are used out and about in training. rub your scent on them drop them or hang them off a branch or in undergrowth and send them back to find them. My dogs REALLY love this game:)) The cloths are also really easy to put in your pocket, so you can take a few with you and do a multiple search:)) have fun:))

  • another Excellent and Fun video! love Inca's indication...everything on her gets still! Barney entering the room for Find It is like my Rocky, fills the whole room at once :-) I love Find It games inside the house for rainy days especially! Great work! :-)

  • @plumwoodposse Thankyou yes Inca indicates really well. i wanted to do this on a person initially but i couldnt get any of my family to stand still for a search they always wanted to be doing there own things...so decided on the tea bag under the blanket..lol! My dogs so love nose work games...trouble is they can hardly contain themselves sometimes and get maybe a bit over excited like Barney nearly bouncing off the walls..lol!

  • These are really cool ideas! I've done them quite a lot with Jessie! She really loves having to find the food and always wants to do it again! lol Inca is so fast at finding the cloth! And love it when Barney bounces in to find it! lol Once again another great and helpful video! =)

  • @JessieTheJack Thankyou so glad you liked, i really appreciate your comment. you could maybe do a vid response for one of the exercises would love to see it:))

  • Oh, more fun for us! I can't wait to start trying this. I just love your videos. Thanks for showing and noting all the details. It is really helpful to not only read what to do but to actually see it, even the smallest, simplest step. I love that you use items that are easy to find and that we usually have around the house, or can find. Fun to watch them get so excited. You're so kind to share all of your skills with us. Oh, and we're making great strides with our mirror legs work!

  • @azmauigirl Thankyou so much..soo luck forward to your comments:)) Excellent with the mirror the leg work by the sounds of it:) lol! yes my dogs get very excited they love doing things with me:))

  • This is a fantastic video. I have a friend who wants me to help teach her hound to find her cat (she gets stuck in trees and under beds). I've been searching around trying to find the best technique, and I think the scent cloth could be a good start.

  • @dsostringbean Thanks...yes start with a scent cloth use your scent first then get the dog used to different scents in this same method. when trying to get them used to different scents i usually start off with one cloth, then aim to build the selection of cloth's up on the floor to get them used to finding the one scent i am after. strong smelling items are best to work with first ,to help give them an idea of what you are after, then progress to making it more difficult. good luck:)

  • hehehe - I bet they all love this game ! x

  • @LiverpoolLashes oh yes think Barney gave it away at the end..he was just bouncing..lol!

  • Nice one! I will try this with my dog!

  • @newbear95 excellent look forward to seeing your vid:)

  • Great idea :) These games perfect leisure for a rainy or hot day!

  • @tdfn Thanks...they just love them:))

  • Oh these are brilliant nose work Ideas! I must try these with Samson. I love your dogs! Thanks for making this video :)

    xxx

  • @Balto32 Oh your welcome and thankyou for commenting..glad you like them, would love to see a vid of samson doing them:)

  • great ideas!:D

My dog loves to do these exercises:)

  • @anneandresen1 Thankyou.....yes dogs soo love using their noses and i really enjoy watching them happily hunting, such fun:))

  • great ideas!! thank you! I have just a question...how did you teach the second exercise?

  • @waileene Thankyou...trying to remember..lol! i think i just put the pots out with the treats in and asked which one and when she got the right one i rewarded her. then when she kept getting the right one i just asked her to 'target it', she has already been taught to target items (check out my hand targeting vid) so the progression to this was easy. will have a go with Barney, cause i havent done it with him yet and see how he gets along with it:))

  • @MultiAnimalcrackers perfect! Thank you very much, you're so kind! Thanks :-)

  • @waileene ok had a go with BArney tonight..if get time will try and vid tommorrow for you. what i did was hold the container with the food in in my hand when i was sat on the floor, the other containers were on the floor. i clicked and treated OUT OF THat container when he went to touch it, i progressed this to longer contact before clicking and treating. I then put the container on the floor with the others and clicked and treated out of the container for touching the right one. :)

  • Love it, such fun for both the dog and you !!

  • @abirdslife Thankyou Cheryl...yes fantastic fun...i love fun:))

  • Excellent ideas! I use some very similar exercises to start detection training. Nose work is probably my favorite thing, it never ceases to amaze me!

  • @tab289 ohh thankyou for your great comment..you are such an awesome trainer:)))

Snap i just love nosework, the dogs are so happy with noses sniffing away and tails wagging when working. i think detection and search & rescue dogs are truly awesome and do such a fantastic job:))

  • thanks for the idea!

  • @cc91801 yr welcome and thankyou for commenting, its nice to know they will help give some one some ideas:))
