You are thinking of the other brokeback theme. The one in Aminor. This is in Emajor. And yes it is somewhat similar to Blackbird but Blackbird is a pretty standard progression. Its not like Macca just plucked it out of nowhere.

You can find some guitar tabs online for BBM. I've managed to 'learn' a few & I'm no guitarist.I'm trying to learn one piece without the guitar tabs as I can't find that particular tab online-I've conquered the first half!!.I thank goodness for this man, I've picked up my guitar for the first time in years because of what he has composed for this movie.I hope you find the tabs and can start playing this for friends. I also have this wonderful artist to thank for igniting in me the urge to learn to play the guitar. I had always intended to, but hearing the score for brokeback gave me the push i needed to actually pursue it. I played the piano but i could not replicate this haunting sound so here i am two years later unable to imagine life without a guitar by my side. Thank you sir

How sad that these cliched, overdone and repetitive guitar chords earned him two oscars while actual talented composers and musicians have none. A sad day when the Academy decides that a composer who has never produced anything more than guitar notes with a synth backdrop is more worthy than Philip Glass, James Newton Howard, Thomas Newman and even Patrick Doyle.

Then you'd have the wrong "feeling". I have heard both scores and they amount to very little when compared to actual ambitious scores produced by greater composers. I understand that the mass audiences may love to put "The Wings" on repeat throughout the day and bask in those cliched guitar chords, but this is not Oscar-material, especially compared to some scores that he "beat" for it.
