Christopher Plummer is cool in this. I also liked him in The Sound Of Music. When The cardinal asked him about his devotion to the Clearys. I bet Ralph thought " Damn he can see through me, now he knows I have the hots for Meggie". Cool insight to Ralph's ambition, when he saw the cardinals joking in the church.

@2011lamb Yes exactly!Stuart is realistic that's all and wants Meggie to be happy and stop dreaming of a man she can never have.In the book however,the conversation is between Meggie and her father and it is not Stu but Paddy who says her these words.

The last part of this is so sad and very maddening. I find it quite...unsettling that Father Ralph is punishing and scolding this young priest...yet, he has broken these sacred vows in some ways himself. I love, love, love this post. It has been the only thing to save my sanity these days. I am going through a "forbidden love" thing myself...I am in love with someone so much (he loves me too) and a decison is tearing us apart. I am so heartbroken...so, this is keeping me sane.

After all there years passed by since movie came out. The Thorn Birds Mini-Series still touching human life, in souls and hearts. Each time I watch this movie, tears drop from my eyes. The images, characters, songs, and music in The Thorn Birds wonderful... This is GREAT LOVE STORY... I had uploaded some of this videos.
