Is it time we all learnt to accept racism? The consequential psychological benefits are unprecedented. Ignorance will unfortunately always be bliss, so learning to tolerate by way of ignoring racial slander will help eventually eradicate the ongoing social segregating problems we all face. Also, I wanted to add that although I could see the term being offensive in a country where people of African heritage were traded as slaves, the lack of institutionalized slavery in Uruguay creates a cultural differentiation of the term which is significant. In other words, Uruguay lacks the kind of history that would make the term black highly derogatory. The Suarez incident is a cultural misunderstanding.

As someone from Uruguay, I will say that Mr. Galloway is correct to say the country is almost entirely white (European immigration since around 1840). However. to use this as his premise to say it is the most racist country in the world is absurd. Black is even used as a form of endearment for a friend or relative - with no racist connotation. I certainly am not offended when they call me "Tano" which is a world used for Italians in Uruguay and Argentina. Mr. Galloway needs to get a life.

@diegui10 The Afro slaves in South America had nothing to do with Britain. They were brought there by Spanish and Portugese colonists after the pope 'gave' you the Americas, which consequently was stolen from the Native peoples and severe acts of genocide happened before and after independences. By the way, nobody is going to believe you have been to London. The place is full of foreigners happy to be there of all races and its one of the most multi-cutural cities in the world.

@Humanrightsforall1 i was in london last May,i've arrived to St Pancras by Eurostar,the first thing that i saw in the hall of the station was a lot of pakistan people selling "Lebara" phone chips,outside in the most of fish n chips shops people not european origin, and when you ask for,they say that they were born in UK,all the worst works are made by not european ethny people,and they not look so happy,maybe you also; i've talked with euro-british and they are not happy with this multiculture

@diegui10 1) No, see you don't know what you are talking about. The First european enslavers of Africans were the Portugese and then the Spanish. The first slaves arrived in Hispaniola in 1501 soon after the Papal Bull of 1493 gave all of the New World to Spain. The Natives you talk of were oppressed when the Latin population dominated and that did not end with independence. That was nothing more than a name change for an oppressed people controlled by white governments.

@diegui10 2) Secondly the people you refer too in London are here by choice and have the option of moving to anywhere in the European Union if they are legal. Not only do the vast majority stay but many try to get the relatives abroad to come here, So they can't be that unhappy. I've never been to Uruguay, But I've been in Argentina and there is a clear difference amoungst the whites and mestizos and standards of living. I heard the Uruguay is similar, although I've never seen it for myself.

@Humanrightsforall1 ok, you're reason, in Uruguay black minority are mostly poor, but this is the same in everywhere, i just say you that in the early 1675 year, british already had in his caribbean colonies more than 100.000 afro-slaves, and 10.000 in his north american colonies (before USA), i know that black-british have freedom of movement, like any other euro-british, but this is something normal current today in all countries..
