The gameplay doesn't even look as shallow as people have been moaning too. The blocking looks quite precise and skillful, hopefully that's a sign that it won't be 'hold block to win', but I can't see Platinum Games doing that. It looks very fast. Combos look refined enough to have multiple functions too, for different tactics. The cutting mechanic can be used freely, not just when the mook is weak, as shown in other footage involving Revengeance. Hopefully, this game is as brilliant as it looks.

I notice this trailer is a bit different to the original. I love the extra Ray battle footage. Power slide evasion from Vanquish is back - awesome.

Also. This isn't Metal Gear Solid. It's Metal Gear Rising. It's a spinoff set to do something different and give Raiden a more suitable game, playing him akin to how he was displayed in MGS4. Kojima Productions IS writing the story, which you can view over on the interview documentary at IGN. In before 'IGNorance' - it's in Kojima's own words.

I like how Jack couldn't destroy Metal Gear RAY on MGS4 but in Rising he just throws it in air and *slash slash* it's destroyed.

Platinum games, if you make a game about MG saga it needs to be some how Scifi, historic, realworld references, some how realistic and last but most faithfull to other MG games. Only stuff i see is unrealistic, überscifi stuff and not any references to other MG games expect Jack as headcharter. This game sure isn't MG but it still can be good.

Also, the story will most likely revolve around Jack understanding to fight for his country and some stuff about a samurai's honor. So according to Hideo Kojima, they where having trouble with the game development and out source to Platinum Games. Originally it was supposed to be set between MGS2 and MGS4 but now its setting is after MGS4.

My problem is i want to know and experience the transition of Raiden when he went from regular soldier to cyborg ninja.

The game looks fun but definitely not the game I wanted. Guess i'm going to have to wait and see.

Looks awful, I thought the initial idea of this game would be stealth/sword attacks using the blade against armed guards which would be the true mgs fanboys treat BEING LIKE GREY FOX. But this just looks shit with its red flashes and "Devil May Cry" style that will do the series no justice at all. They really missed an oppertunity to make an amazing game here that was a testiment to the series, instead they have a cheap tacky knock off that will bomb when it is released.

I'm not one to complain about games, I'm usually pretty open minded. But this game really looks trashy. It reminds me of an over the top japanese anime or RPG. It has a weird feel to it.

Metal Gear Solid is arguably one of the best franchises in gaming, so to have such an iconic series reduced to a typical hack n slash is upsetting.

I expected swordplay with Raiden obviously, but I didn't expect a typical H&S game. This game honestly looks generic and over the top. The story looks bad too.
