The mic is not "dry". I'm not sure what it is but it might be some sort of compression and gain that he turns up and naturally distorts. I have a vocal peddle that does it.

actually that is "dry" (mostly) you see he switches to the "distorted" mic for a word then switches back to the "dry" one for some reason.. the only effect it seems to have is a slight reverb.. which is not uncommon for any live singer.
