Dam, I want super 44's now. I finally made up my mind with you vid. Perfect semi-gentle idle but sounds like when my exhaust fell off when you revved up...yeah. Super 44's man, thanx
Uhhhh......Yeah, it sucked! Had a buddy help me. We ended up raising the motor just about a foot. Went from the top on the passenger side, and from the bottom on the drivers. Your gonna have to take out your steering shaft first. When we lifted it a foot it still took a lil muscle to get them in. Hopefully you have better luck.
I got the MAC unequal shorties for my 1982 notch and they dropped right in from the top. Didn't have to take out or move anything. The biggest downfall of the shorties compared to full length is that the shorties only have 2" outlets which is what the stock headers have, and the full lengths will have 2.5" or 3" outlets. To fix this, simply open up the 2" outlets to 2.25" or 2.5" with a dremel and a stone bit. I did it to mine in 30 mins.
dude there very ez to install the headers are made to come apart for easy installing lol yer spose to cut the part that meets the heads theres even marks were u cut at they then u put them in ... in pieces its cake lol
the flowtechs are supposed to be cut at the flanges. they are slip joint headers. the one tube wraps around the steering shaft. it wa a bitch getting them in the first time for sure. raise the whole front end of the car and squeeze them in from the bottom. then continue holding ti from the bottom while someone up top starts threading the flanges on
i have the slip fit flowtechs, there were cake to install! the whole point of the flowtechs is so you dont have to dissasemble steering shafts or jack the motor up
I was worried about the same thing but surprisingly it wasnt. Gonna rebuild it, bore it over 30 with a bigger cam and all the good ol bolt ons. so maybe the 3" will come in handy
3" doesn't add any performance over 2.25" until your engine is making over 500 hp. Car Craft or one of those magazines did an article about it with lots of dyno testing. Also, check your bores real good before you go .030" over. I pulled my motor apart when I had a knock, found a broken ring, 2 pistons with broken ring lands, and a cracked skirt abotu to break and the bores were still fine. I honed it with a 3-stone and drill and used new pistons and it runs great! You don't always need overbore

i might as well go with shorties then.

Shorties are coo. The only minor prob I have with them is depending on which ones you get its gonna be a bitch to put the spark plugs in.
hotice2355 2 years ago
yeah. ill just end up havin to get some BBK full lengths since i guess those fit.

Are you going 3"?
hotice2355 2 years ago
dude 3'' is the WAY to go now-a-days.
crenshaw502 2 years ago
it seems like that 1/2'' woulddnt give you enough backpressure??? was it slowere afterwards???
