  • Hi, Mr Mutooni-Bwana Mutooni. Nice video. Greetings from Europe, Bosnia, Serbs Republic. What is the name of the song?

  • Ha ha ha. Bwanawee wafurahisha sana. Mbavu zaniuma.

  • ...I would assume your a native Kenyan... but are you of the Maasai ethnicity? Someone also noted this but said your dialect is of the Kamba tribe. I suppose your reasoning is that most Americans are only familiar with the Massai and that is sadly a pretty valid point. Nice video by the way.

  • @dnlcaisse are you sure about your assumptions in your comments?

  • @MRMUTOONI It was a question, so no I wouldn't be sure;p

  • @dnlcaisse ,Some Maasai happen one of the Only few tribes that maintainand wear their traditional regalia full time, however MrMutooni's dressing is appropriately ,Kenyan, yet nothing to do with Maasai, this is how nearly all tribes used to attire-up, even as late as 1900..furthermore, what we now know as maasai shuka/blanket,is a product of china, india,et.al,it is not woven by the maasai..traditionally "kenyans wore of cured leather and barkcloth, that was of singular colour,e.i reddish-brown..

  • Ha ha ha, Mr Mutooni is soooo 'hakuna matata', he's cool. He's just the type of person I'd love to sit and drink cold beer with on a hot day while watching the girls go by. :)

  • Please tell me how to write the names of the zodiac signs in Kiswahili. Thanks!

  • @Abrilpara2 i will be looking into that one. At this time i do not know because Kiswahili is a borrowed language from many languages.

please turn the music down next time so we can hear you better.

  • Man, it is good to see you are trying to teach but please if you are to teach and hope pple to understand you, turn radio on low, we can listen music elsewhere. Also, I can tell from your accent you are from Kamba tribe but why the hell dress like Maasai? Nothing wrong with it but won't you feel better to be yourself?

  • you really rock

  • I agree. :D He's really cool. :)

  • i found out the blacks speak and learn swahili in prisons throughout america so the guards and mexicans dont understand them. kind of how the mexicans speak a language that only they can understand. so pretty much the black inmates can talk mess about the guards right in front of their face without getting in trouble for it

  • @kitches1991 LOL I think this is funny. I can see black inmates speaking this foreign language from Africa!!

  • I studied the history of swahili and I agree with HeshimaJameni. Ukoo wa kiswahili ni kibantu. I believe that even more in real life as my mom is Luo(River lake Nilote) and Swahili is not her strongest fort. My father being Bantu, I can relate alot in swahili than Luo. Arabic, Indian etc words wormed their way into Swahili during trading times when the traders arrived at the coast of Kenya.

    Ukoo wa kiswahili ni Kibantu.

  • Nice outfit

  • do Kenyans like white people speaking Swahili in Kenya?

  • yes we do, do white people like people of colour speak english or spanish for example, yes. dear, you have to realize that kenya has its own native white people. it is a multy-ethnic society just like any in the world. grab a book dear or just e-mail me and I will print and mail you some copies. have a nice day.

  • I want to quit Spain and go to live at Kenya!. Kenya is amazing!. I hope i learn swahili easily.

  • @spanish111japan Karibu, meaning welcome :)

  • You are welcome please

  • All -Time best Kiswahili video Clip. There is no other one out there. All free Enjoy

  • This clip is all time high in demand. There is no other Kiswahili Language video clip out there. Power to you guy.

  • is they some in northwest england i can learn SWAHILI kenya leand

  • Tadhathali usiwe mjinga hapa. Kama ulienda shule kuna kiswahili 101 na kiswahili 401. yako ni kiswahili 401. Yangu ni basic kiswahili 101. You dont teach chemistry to little kids the same way you would teach university graduate .

  • Isnt Swahili made up of clicks?

  • no, so are south african languages such as xhosa (where the x in the name is a click too)

  • nope

  • I agree the background music is too loud. I apologize for that

  • lol

  • im from comoros islands so i also understand swahili and im not east african

  • u dont have to be east african to understand swahili

  • Asante sana!

  • Thanks for making this video. I really like it!

    Asante sana!

  • Asante sana to you too

  • nice video, i have a pretty gud vocabulary in swahili, i am looking to chat to sum1 through email or msn so i can practice, i am planningg on going tanzania next summer so if sum1 wud like to help feel free to get in touch

  • sure i can help i have lived in kenya for 11 yrs so im pretty good at it

  • Actually, Arabic is the most common language spoken in Africa. However, Swahili is the second most common by not much difference.

  • Could've sworn it was french and swahili brother

  • Not really. The brother is from East Africa. We were once a british colony not french colony

  • Its nice to see how things have changed.

  • Thanks for this video! It's very informative and funny!

  • it was also irresponsible to say in the 1960's: Well we can't care anymore about the colonies so let's just say they're free now and see what happens.

  • hrmmmmm, I am thinking about taking Swahili to fill my language requirement....I wonder if it is difficult...???

  • Nope its pretty easy compared to

    Zulu or Xhosa

  • kiswahili is a lil bit difficult but not for me since i was born in kenya!..and i was raised with it..give it a try tho

  • its kinda easy and kinda difficult

  • tanzania swahili is the most proper swahili. lakini wanaoishi mombasa wanajua kuongea kiswahili kama watanzania. sijawai kuwasikia wacongo wakiwa wanaongea kiswahili.

  • nice work mr MUTOONI keep it up

  • buy daudi kabaka dvd

  • I think its good! I can't learn much from this, as I know the basic...lakini asante kaka. x

  • Swahili is Swahili. It's prolly some different with the dialects, but I think you understand "Kongo Swahili" if you know how to speak "Kenya Swahili"..

  • I think that we should all make an effort to learn each other's languages. Everyone should learn at least one foreign language of their interest, instead of all the foreigners just learning English. How boring. :P Variety is the spice of life and keeping a language alive is a huge part of keeping one's culture alive.

    Anyway, nice video. :)

  • kenya swahili are the same with kongo swahili?

  • yupps...it is the same, Kiswahili language!

  • depends where in kenya you are. In some places of Kenya they speak the the dialect 'Sheng" which Congolese people cannot understand.

  • well kinda but not all the way same

  • Hey, I thought it was really sweet & nice & fresh. Ah, those were the days...

    (What's "bandera" doing in Swahili?!)

(I think the "!" in front of a word indicates the glottal stop sound or 'click' in some languages...)

  • It is "bendera" in swahili. Swahili has some portuguese vocabulary due to the portuguese influence on the east coast during the 15th century.

  • heshima i really respect your knowledge of East africa Kiswahili language. Congratulations

  • You right .1st right ammendments also prevents America from going back to the days of slavery

  • There is no X in Kiswahili nor Q or C by itself its CH. Swahili alphabet is A B CH D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W Y Z. The guy in the video has an accent, its like a mexican speaking english, some letters are mispronounced...which by the way is very funny

  • turn the music down!

  • what are you like man, that is obviously not a letter or perhaps you could start by telling me first how you would pronounce that in english

  • can you come again as to ya question i still dont get it?

  • how do you pronouce "!xobile"

i have seen a person name is !xobile

    it spelled !xobile

i can pronouce xobile but i can not pronouce !xobile

  • how about khobile

  • so you pronounce "!xobile" as koo-bi-le

  • xo will have a kho sound as in from the back of your throat ie the back of your tounge touches up and pushes forward

  • if xo pronounce as kho

    what about !xo

    how do u pronounce that

the ! is in a way of xo

  • thats from russell peters lol, hahahha, i dont think Swahili was the african language he was talking about it was some tribal language from south africa. Don't eat pop tarts in front of them or they'll kick ur ass lol

  • Swahili was spoken before English. Africa has more achieved than Europe, but the Europeans have colonized and murdered Africans, so that they had no chance to defend themselves, because the White Man is such a brutal entity.

The African Culture mustnt´ be forgotten! It´s to much worth than just to be forgotten!

  • I agree wholeheartedly. I really do. I hope that Africa will soon rise to its full potential.

  • fredrick Mutua umejitahidi si haba"!Laiti ungesanifisha lafdhi yako kidogo pengine nasi wapenzi wa kiswahili tungekuelewa.

  • If you live in the US you might want to consider speaking Spanish as a second language. But this is a good second choice.

  • I agree. Thumbs up.

  • I am a kenyan and feel so proud you took the time to educate pple about swahili. But the video would have been much better without the background music all in all poa.By the way you were really funny try comedy you made me laugh watching you thanks.Kenya rocks as always!!!! Big ups

  • you mean Zulu? That's South Africa

  • ?How do you say poland spring water bottle in Swahili.......porandi sipring water mbotoro...

  • LMAO, nice.

  • ndont kor us...why? fisiti our wembu sitee .....you may mbi wondering... kenya fulank or.. mbendera...miliki...wasiwa... by the way the background music doesnt sound like has drums in it..you need to play a kayamba.....

  • cool

  • How do you say poland spring water bottle in Swahili?

  • The best i can say is maji(water) ya(of) Poland. In Swahili most translations are done backward.

Another example: Cold water. You start from the end . You say maji (water) baridi (cold) Remember that Swahili is a mixture of Arabic and African language. Remember that you read Arabic language backward.

  • This "mixture with Arabic" thing is grossly misleading!. Swahili is a bantu language with bantu grammar structure. It is typical of bantu or other non-bantu language like the Luo to put an adjective before a noun. Even Spanish does it and has nothing to do with any "mixture" with Arabic.

Of course Kiswahili borrowed heavily from Arabic in its vocabulary. Bu also from English, French, Portuguese, Persian, etc.,and other african languages that constitute the rich Kiswahili vocabulary..

  • If you like then, Kiswahili is a mixture of the "African language" (which one?) you were refering to and Arabic as much as English is a mixture of Anglo-Saxon languages with Latin and Greek!

  • Heshima i believe you can teach Kiswahili . Please join the family and lets educate the mass about Kiswahili language. its fun.

  • He's going too fast! I can't even see the things he's holding up!

  • Welldone.

    This is very good.

    Asante sana

  • Thanks Mhesimiwa

  • Great to see an African region promoting itself. I'll order the CD. Thanks. Please put more Swahali on the next upload.

  • Thanks for your feedback

  • He He He lol lol
