Thanks for the comments! Regarding a first loco - it depends on your budget - but look at the PPS Janet, the Accucraft Edrig and the Roundhouse Millie. Edrig is a bit big for 16mm but great value at just over £400.

Hot Spot - Stove Black spray paint from a garden centre, but Halfords Matt Black Acrylic spray is nearly as good.

Yes indeed Peter, but there is always a can of gloss paint ......... though there is not much chance of it being used!
