@seancorcoran11 Actually, you can travel between Waterford and Cork by train. There's a connection at Limerick Junction. Departures from Waterford at 0640, 1140 and 1640. And departures from Cork at 0730, 1230 and 1730.

Anyway I'll be sticking to flying from Waterford and connecting with another flight in London. It only takes 2 hours 20 minutes to travel from my house in Waterford to London.

@fantarum It was Michael O'Leary that said he was cutting back on maintenance of the planes to cut costs for "low fares". He cut back to the minimum that the industry allows. When Ryanair done this emergency landings involving their planes was regulary in the newspapers. I'm sure all the regular emergency landings was costing them a lot so no doubt they reversed their decision.

Otherwise they are not allowed to fly to all those destinations within the European Union. Every airline have some difficulties time to time so that they need to make an emergency landing. They cut back on almost everything, except safety! Also because it will harm the whole company name and safety record. They fly with one of the newest fleet!

Don't hear of emergency landing these days so I guess they put maintenance back to the previous level. Mr. O'Leary's latest idea to cut costs is get rid of the co-pilot.

Well I haven't flown with those fuckers since 1998 and never will again. I'm going to Alicante in June and I'm flying from Waterford to London with Aer Arann and then onto Alicante with Monarch.

You can't judge that bacause of multiple errors!

BTW that accident was the fault of both planes! Pan am didn't had clearance to enter the runway, and klm didn't had permission to takeoff, Also the communication system of the airport is a major reason!

The government has ended that subsidy which is why Ryanair has cut the Dublin/Cork route from five flights per day to one... and Ryanair has also cut the Dublin/Kerry route from three flights per day to one. Ryanair was taking a bigger advantage of subsidised fares than Aer Arann. Fares for domestic flights used to be subsidised under the PSO levy.

In time everyone will be forced to fly Ryanair, because other airlines will prove too expensiven for your pockets.

I fly Ryanair because it gets me from A to B more cheaply than the bus, but some prefer that 'I'm special' touch on old 1980's planes.

The well known company Skytrax rate airlines with stars thus symbolizing there approval rating. Ryanair have on of the lowest low cost airline star ratings in the world with only two, out beaten by Easy jet who have three but on par with Air Koyo the north korea airline who also have two.
