DDO is a hybrid of 3.5 and 4.0 , and honestly, the only good parts of 4.0, however.

In 4.0 they were rewritten as devils because it fits them to be schemers....

@TheFiretiger DDO is not a hybrid at all, and I highly doubt they would change the lore mid-game. In fourth edition, demons are elementals. Also, in fourth edition, the Nine Hells exist in Eberron, when that CLEARLY makes no sense with the setting, and the iconic infernal alignment is gone. But all of that is irrelevent, since DDO still classifies them as demons and as chaotic evil. DDO is 3.5 slightly modified, but the creature types are all the same. The Infernal versions are erinyes.
