They made such a beautiful couple. He chose her out of a crowd, and he is constantly "touching" her. In pix of him and Pricilla he doesn't !!! No matter what she has her memories. We all hv that love of our life that slipped away. Makes my heart ache for what could hv been, should hv been, almost was.

  • Good video and music combination here.

    tks

  • we wii never forget you ELVIS

  • Amazing video. Danielle thank you!

  • This is Super Special

  • omg elvis was so hot

  • Wow!! That was one lucky lady:)

  • exactly what I had asked..was this Marie Covacevich (married name) and her sister she's talking about in the book. you already answered me and stated you didn't know her, you just saw the DVD.. so you pretty much answered my question. It ws in the book,

  • Epmelody thank you for your response. I do know Marie and I remember her showing me photos of Elvis. This is why I'm wondering if this is the same person. You must know June. You know the story very well.

  • No, I don't know June & I haven't read her book yet, but was relating her story earlier on here from her DVD "Elvis & June: A Love Story," a couple of interviews, & her story as she related it in Grualnick's "Last Train to Memphis." That tells the entire basic story, but she may have left out some things & added others. I don't know if she tells the story in her book of the time she & Elvis were rolling around naked in his room laughing about what was happening when mom knocked on his door

  • I still need to check that DVD. I know that a few names were mentioned. If you are still in contact with Marie, you might ask her.

  • I'm going by Jerry Schillings book, and he was there and obviously since you're all kids, you were NOT. Jerry was sitting in the room the day that Elvis fired Parker and he saw Parker in action for years and said Parker NEVER actually said "no" to Elvis. What Parker would do is make a simple thing so complicated that everyone gave up He did the same thing with studio executives! If you study Elvis, you will see he often told that same Parker story to girls so he didn't hurt their feelings.

  • The only story that has any credibility that relates Parker interfering in Elvis's private life is the one that Parker backed up Priscilla's dad in pushing Elvis to fulfill his promises to marry her which has been told by many who were there, but has been denied by Priscilla & family. If you're using Elvis's internet bio, it has been contaminated by a jealous obsessed hater that is telling old lies that were proven false years ago or twisting facts. Their main target is Elvis's manhood.

  • well i agree with with elvisandgladys that parker didn't let elvis do what he wanted

  • i met june juanico in london 12 years ago at her book signing.

  • was she a sweetheart? :)

she seems like a real sweetheart form what i have seen on tele :) x

  • is someone going to answer this question or this continually going to go on without answering any of the questions I asked..

  • I don't think anybody knows. These are not women normally covered in books about Elvis. I know a few people are mentioned on her DVD so I'll check that and see what they say. Do you know this Marie?

  • What do you wanna know???

  • I give the basic facts Of Elvis & June's story over a couple of pages now, and I know June really loved and still loves Elvis. As far as her friends, I don't know if that is the same person or not. You might ask June through her site.

  • June has a site??? Like a website????

  • I'm sorry, I don't think she does. I guess I was thinking about Kathy Westmoreland. Besides June's book and DVD, there are some interviews on line, and a major interview for Peter Guralnick's "Last Train to Memphis" about Elvis young days and rise of his career up to the army. Guralnick's other books are "Careless Love" about the army and after, and "Elvis: Day by Day." which gives detailed dates and documentation.

  • can anyone answer me about the book she wrote In the twilight of memory-- my question was, she had written that she was buds with about 5 people.. she mentioned Marie and Rosalie..they were sisters... is she speaking of Marie Covacevich from Biloxi? Someone in the know pllllllllleeeeeeese answer my question...

  • I Looove these pictures. This is a perfect song for Elvis and June. I thing it is soooo

sad that they didn't get married. It was Tom Parker, Elvis' manager's fault. He wouldn't let Elvis marry June. Huhhh! Have any of you ever read "In The Twilight Of Memory", the book that June wrote??????????????It's a great book!!!

  • omg yes its the best elvis book ever!

  • Elvis used that Col. Parker excuse with a number of girls. With his "good girls" who he knew wanted marriage before sex, he would tell them the Colonel wouldn't let him get married for three more years, and with his "bad girls" like Tempest Storm, he would tell them the Colonel didn't want him dating a stripper! Of course this was after he had been sleeping with Tempest off & on for a year. Elvis didn't want to hurt any of them so there was good motivation behind it!

  • That is why people think Parker had all this control over Elvis's personal life which he did NOT. June is a sweet person and a little naive and romantic, but on her DVD even she was less inclined to completely blame Parker. She said "Elvis had a whole world full of girls and he didn't need me." Think about it, he was 21 yrs old--he wasn't getting married! Shortly after that he met Anita Wood, and gave her a promise ring before he left for Germany in 58, and she lived at Graceland until 8/62!

  • Yes, Parker DID have control over Elivs' life. One time when Elvis threatened to fire him, Parker would threatenen him that if he did fire him he would ruin his career and send him back to driving a truck or he would show Elvis the bills. I can't believe ANYONE could do a thing like that except Parker. SO......

  • I was talking about Elvis's personal life which Parker mostly ignored. The relationship between Elvis & Parker was business, and Elvis DID fire Parker at least once for an extended period. Jerry Schilling tells about this in his book, and he was there, and says they were fighting about the karate film and overseas touring when it happened. He also said when Elvis really wanted something, he would get his way eventually.

  • Tempest Storm was a famous burlesque dancer back in the 50s & 60s. She even dated John F. Kennedy. There was a really good video of her when she was young on here that is just gone, and the rest have been flagged. I don't know why because there was no nudity. You see more on TV every night! She originally retired at age 67, but her fans wanted her back and she still performs a couple of times a year. All very tame and ladylike.

  • Was that her real name???

  • Tempest real name was Annie Blanche Banks. In '08 she was still stripping at age 80 in Vegas.

  • But Parkerl didn't always let Elvis do what he wanted to. He made Elvis make videos which he hated making. And he didn't let Elvis do any serious acting like he wanted. So..........

  • I'm going by what Jerry Schilling said in his book, and he was there. He said Parker never really said "no" to Elvis, but made simple things so complicated that everybody would give up. Speaking of serious acting, Jerry was there when they had the discussion for "A Star is Born" behind Parker's back. He said Elvis was very excited about doing it, but Parker made so many demands that everybody threw up their hands.

  • By videos, do you mean films? Parker got Elvis into some long term movie contracts when he got out of the Army, and Elvis had to fulfill those contracts. Elvis got in on the tail end of what they called the contract system. Elvis may not have liked most of the movies, but they always made money. Parker wasn't concerned about Elvis expanding as an artist--he only cared about money and the bottom. Elvis got out of those contracts, and did the '68 "comeback" special his way--not the Colonels!

  • Who in the world is Tempest Storm????

  • My first true love in EDINBURGH was called June and this song reminds me of her. I just wish I had stayed with her. Thanks for the cherished memories.

  • I have finally read the book June wrote "Elvis in the twilight of memory".. I just couldn't put it down. I think she's a great writer and I do believe she needs to write anothe book. This must have been difficult going back to such memories.. I just can't imagine what she went through when he passed.. anyway, in the book she mentioned who she hung with as a teenager... is she speaking of Marie Covacevich? I know her and I remember her showing me some photos.

  • I just love the song he's singing in this video.. what is so strange is I went to high school with her daughter. They looked so much alike it was like looking at twins. I'm sure they still do. I always thought it was a rumor that she dated Elvis.. but no, the proof is in the film.. great footage.

  • Ela era bem feinha..

  • how cute were they!! I love this incredible video and to think not long after that he made it so big in the music industry.. really great footage.

  • There is a lot more footage on the DVD. These were taken by June's mother's boyfriend Eddie Bellman. There are some really cute pictures of Elvis's mom who looks so sweet. She is standing there holding his fishing pole while he eats a sandwich. She liked all his "good girl" girlfriends, and was looking to get him married so she could have some grandchildren to help raise! Elvis was already famous here and being chased. His biggest years were 1956-58. Read my posts to get their full story.

  • She says on her DVD she is reaching up and straightening his belt because his name on the belt is crooked He is sitting turned away because photographers are following them in another boat, and even tried to board their boat so some people positioned themselves between them and Elvis.

  • thanks for answering!

  • what did she do to his pants? someone plzzzzzzz answer me! or try to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • much as I'd love to be june i think it was sad when elvis broke his promises

  • June may have been the only one who loved Elvis for Elvis before fame and fortune...........bt

  • No that honor belongs to his first serious girlfriend Dixie Locke who started dating him when he was still driving a truck. They met in church, and she said their biggest worry before he started with Sun records, was if they could "hold out" for marriage--they almost ran off to get married a couple of times. Elvis's fooling around with other girls on his before fame tours broke them up, and Gladys cried over the break up! June had only ONE date with Elvis before fame--see my posts below.

  • She always thought they would get back together eventually...........it is too bad fame betweent hem. Gladys loved her and Anita........

  • Lovely! Beautiful! Thank you.

  • ok, 289cab.

Merci pour le ttire de la chanson ! J'adore ces images d'un bonheur parfait... d'une époque révolue...

  • Briefly, here is some of the story of Elvis and June Juanico. They met June 27, 1955 when he was performing at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. Elvis was 20 years old and not yet famous, and June was 17 years old. Elvis picked her out of the crowd, and they had one long date, and spent the night kissing and talking. Elvis later told her he tried to call, but she didn't see Elvis again until the next Summer of 1956 and may have never seen him again is she hadn't gone to Memphis.

  • Elvis had become the most famous guy in America in one year with hit records and TV appearances. June and her girlfriends vacationed in Memphis, and June was peeking over the backyard fence at his Audobon Dr. house to see what shape pool they were building when Elvis drove up with his parents. June and Elvis spent the week-end together going to the movies, and visiting sites in Memphis. This made the news, and girls wanted to claw her eyes out, as June says, and were calling her names.

  • Elvis had an interest in June, and went to Biloxi on summer vacation. June's mother's boyfriend Eddie Bellman took these movies, and more on her DVD "Elvis and June: A Love Story." Elvis's parents are in some of the movies. Elvis had to keep changing locations when the fans caught up with him, and there were hundreds of fans and photographers at the dock when they returned. June also went to New Orleans with Elvis and his parents, on a ten day tour, and stayed at his Memphis Audobon Dr. house.

  • In June's interview for "Down at the End of Lonely Street," June says Elvis had more on his mind than celestial bodies while they were looking at the stars. Elvis wanted to have sex with June, but she refused because she was a 1950's virginal good girl. She told Elvis she had dated a lot of guys, but never done anything. Elvis asked her if she was "Cherry,' and spunky as she was, replied "I'm the whole pie." Elvis respected her virginity.

  • There was also a scene in" Last Train to Memphis" where they almost do it. They were rolling around naked in his room laughing about what they were about to do when his mother knocked on the door checking and saying "we don't want no babies now." As June says" things were different then" and there were a lot of virgins, guys wanted to marry virgins, mothers, including Gladys, wanted their sons to marry "chaste" girls, and June had marriage on her mind. She regrets tuning Elvis down now.

  • (since these are not replying, I'm putting them in backwards so they will be in order)

June saw Elvis was being pulled away by his fame and all the other girls. She says on her DVD "Elvis had a whole world full of girls and he didn't need me." Elvis stopped calling and sending telegrams, and didn't call on her birthday. so she became engaged to someone else. When Elvis asked her to meet his train, she went and told him she was engaged. Elvis's surprise was probably Graceland.

  • And I'm also surprised that he didn't care that she went fishing all day with her hair pinned up. In her book she stated that she curled her hair but never took it down before going on the boat. Usually Elvis expected his girlfriends to be emmaculately groomed. I guess June was before he standards got that high. When she forgot her make-up, Elvis told her she didn't need all that make-up & that she looked good naturally. That opinion definitely changed with time. Just an interesting observation.

  • Beautiful song. I always thought June seemed too masculine and tomboyish for Elvis. He always seemed to like women who were very feminine with doll-like features. I like the fact that he is not as predictable as I sometimes think. Great video.

  • jolie vidéo... Ils étaient si beaux ensemble... Quel est le titre de la chanson ?

  • c'est inscrit dans le cartouche du haut "that's someone you'll never forget"

  • I love this so much from the day I first heard it in my teens and it's still one of my favorites. Thanks so much for the beautiful memories.

  • Is June still with us?

  • Nice video. Thanks. They did look alike.

  • Danielle, this is a beautiful beautiful video..well done to you and thanks.I think June would have been great for Elvis.

  • Thank you for those lovely images. I watched Biography the other night on them, and it was so interesting. What amazing memories she has to cherish with Elvis!

  • What a gem, such rare footage and so wonderfully edited, definitely favourited,

    Thankyou Rafael for sharing

    5*......Barbara

  • I really loved this, I didn't want the video to end. You did such a wonderful job on the clips and the perfect song. Thank you for making this and I just have to fav this one!

  • Elvis is beautiful.

  • You can see the blonde in his hair in that video of the fishing trip or whatever! AH! I mean, the only time you get to see anything close to his natural hair color is in "Kissing Cousins." I love both of his looks! :)

  • Watching and listening to June's story, I think Elvis had someone who was the truest love of his life.Someone who would've been with him through all of his days, there during the good times and bad times. A very classy lady in the life of a great man.

  • what a lucky lucky girl!!! wish it could've been me!!!!!sigh!

  • Had to watch this again and again ....awesome!

  • Truely lovely...I have just finished reading June's book so this was lovely too see, thanks so much....bought a tear to my eye to see Elvis so young and as yet untouched by fame...

  • Great video danielle, really great.

  • Fantastic video! Wonderful pics. 5 stars.

  • I thought I know all of Elvis' songs; but just recently discovered this beautiful haunting song! Thanks for posting it!!

  • This was also one of the very few songs that Elvis actually had a hand in the writing of. It was cowritten with Red West. One just has to wonder how Elvis would've done as a songwriter if he had had the time to work at it. Things might have been different if he wrote some or all of his song.

  • I didn't know Elvis ever wrote songs. I read that he managed to have his name put on writers' credit like Norman Petty did with Buddy Holly songs just to get more money; but they never actually wrote the songs.

Wish I could write a song like they did and make a million!! LOL

  • Elvis never intentionally put his name on songs written by others. That was all Parker's doing and essentially was limited to songs written circa 1956. After Elvis found out what was going on, he ordered an end to the practice. His name on any song thereafter was genuine, not counting the songs that were in the public domain. Writers today may make a million with their songs but back in the 50s, they'd be lucky if they came away with $5000. And there were still plenty of barracudas around.

  • yes, i believe that the only songs that Elvis ever actually wrote along with red west and charlie hodge is this song and 'you'll be gone'. yes you are right madrocker, yet Elvis did sometimes get his name as co-writer on such songs as Heartbreak Hotel because he produced them and changed them so much (including lyrics) that they were not recognisable to the original versions.

  • Elvis's name on the writing credit for "Heartbreak Hotel" was added after the songwriters Mae Boren Axton and Tommy Durden met Elvis in Florida. The pair thought Elvis was a nice young man but thought his music career would probably be short, so they gave him a third of the writing royalties, just to give him a little extra income from the sales. That was direct from an interview with Mae Axton before her death. Neither she nor Durden realized Elvis was going to be a big musical star.

  • Another add on to the above: the writing credits on "Love Me Tender" occurred because the official songwriter, Ken Darby was a member of ASCAP and Presley's publishing at the time was solely through BMI. However, I believe that the melodies on all of Darby's songs were in the public domain, which may explain how Elvis'name was added. But, since Elvis's publishing was with BMI and Darby wrote new lyrics, that explains why he put the songs in his wife's name.

  • yes you may well be right madrocker, yet Tommy Durden himslef admited Elvis' musical version of heartbreak hotel was un-recognizable to his original. yet you are probabaly correct about them giving it to him out of pity. i once heard him say that he gave his wife's name as the official songwriter instead of himself because she didn't write it either ( referencing to the fact Elvis didn't).

  • I've never heard the original arrangement for "Heartbreak Hotel," but my guess has always been that it was a country oriented arrangement. My belief is also that Elvis was capable of writing songs but was so overcommitted by his manager that he didn't have a lot of free time to work at it. His life might have been different if he'd had that time.

  • I totally agree with you. Elvis was just not interesed in writing songs. He could have easily done it but he he just did not care about it. Many of the songs he performed were totally different fro the original, he could have changed them a little more and be credited as songwriter but he did not care.

  • My belief is that Elvis could've developed into a songwriter but wasn't able to because of Parker overcommitting him on concerts, TV appearances, movies. I'm also of the belief that perhaps Parker didn't really want to see Elvis develope as a songwriter or musician, because once he was that, Parker couldn't ask for others to give up so much. He didn't see that an Elvis capable of doing it all wouldn't have needed the services of outside writers. All the publishing money would've been theirs.

  • Yes, may have been that 'Parker didn't want to loose control of Elvis. Is 'Parker still alive? Thanks.

  • You wouldn't have gotten rich off the songwriting royalties on record sales. For a long time, the combined songwriting and publishing royalties were a measly two cents, split 50/50 between writers and publishers. Additional royalties would've come from radio and jukebox play but to reach a million dollars in royalties probably would've taken 25 years or longer, depending on additional sales and radio/jukebox play.

  • No. June was American :]

  • Love it, love it. I remember the song.I was so young when it was played on radio.

  • Hello Danielle. This is a such a hauntingly beautiful Elvis song. Thank-you so much for this wonderful video/pic's. I love everything Elvis.

  • Me too.

  • WOW,I LOOVE THE SONG AND THE VIDEO DANIELLE,THANX VERY MUCH:o)

  • can't get this song outta my head lol

  • Great unseen video and song,thanks. 5*

  • Beautiful video!

  • I had never heard the song, and had never seen the woman with Elvis! Who is she? Why did they break up? This was all before his stardom, I assume? Before he made it in the big time?

  • they broke up in 1955, I think....I dunno how long they were dating though....

  • in 1956....sorry...

  • Her name is June Junaico. Elvis was just becoming famous when they met, and she broke up with him just before he went into the army.

  • She must have been nuts LOL Lovely song good job

  • He was in the beginning of his stardom. They spent the summer together. When he left to go back to work, his calls became less frequent & he missed her 18th birthday which upset her. One day he called and asked to meet her on his way through her town. She, deciding that she wasn't going to wait around, had become engaged to another man. She told him at their meeting .. which stunned him. I think he thought she would wait for him. Plus she had been reading about other women.

  • One thing that finally made June lose hope was seeing pictures in the newspaper of Elvis, his parents, and a showgirl named Dottie Harmony all opening gifts around the Christmas tree. Elvis did date Dottie for quit awhile, and she was an Anita Wood lookalike. Dottie is in pictures with Elvis when he went for his induction physical for the Army, and Anita Wood is in pictures standing with his parents when he leaves on the bus for the Army.

  • Great history of love. Great rare pictures. 5 *

  • absolutely amazing! beautiful rare picture! 5 stars

  • Hauntingly beautiful! Thanks!

  • Danielle, this is so beautiful!!! Great job! Five stars and straight to my faves! Thanks x

  • Aww, one of the cutest videos on youtube! hehe

Brought a big smile on my face :) Thanks Danielle xx
