This album share a great musicianship, fueled with emotion and great expression, no manufactured anger like nowadays. How they can deliver such efficiency through their music is just... amazing. A true masterpiece if there ever was one. I just fucking love old Sepultura.
@AlbanianGuy Then what you're saying is that every album that came out in 1989 actually came out in the 90s... that's a bold statement to make. And not very accurate. Ha.
Uh that's not a riff that's the end of a solo. And if you're calling the riff directly after badass... theyre just repeating one power chord... dont get me wrong kickass song but that riff isnt special at all
@alastairmctavish well mate , i know it's the end of the solo lol , I meant the riff coming after that , also I'm not talking about the guitar only , I'm talking about the whole band with that riff , so to say. Oh also , a riff doesn't need anything like that technic death metal shit to be badass , it's the emotion in it I call badass , not how technical or difficult to play it is.
Sepultura, Megadeth, Testament, Metallica(old), Pantara, Black Sabbath's, Dio, and Iron Maiden are my favorite bands of all time! Just had to throw that out there
haha and you would know what is? There's no such thing as true metal anyway its just a word, there's good metal and shit metal and this is good. so stop trying to sound wise on the internet
THIS CD IS JUST GREAT. I LISTEN TO OVERKILL AND OLDER STUFF LIKE ANTHRAX AND METALLICA. I DO GET INTO TANKARD AND TESTAMENT ALOT TOO . 666 PACKS FOR ALL!!
you know sepultura always sang about real shit. these guys aere real good spirits they have the right ideals they stand for something that is good when other bands have bared false witness. they ment something ideals that we have lost in this worldmetal is just the format
Those old good days, drinking beer like a thirsty dog and enjoying this masterpiece.. along with some Forbidden, Death,Coroner, Morbid Saint, Morpheus Descends, Celtic frost, Sodom, At war, Hallows eve, Kreator, Sabbat, Grave, Nihilist, Rotting Christ, Varathron,Mortuary, Cenotaph, Massacre, Burnt Offering,Voivod,Rottrevore etc, etc, This is true metal, and with all due (dis)-respect, fuck the nu-metal bands!
There is nothing wrong with being born later....at least now all these masterpieces are available to you and you can still enjoy them like they did in the 70s we did in the 80s and 90s...METAL FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know why so many comments about the Big 4... The Big Four aren't the best thrash metal bands in the world. They are the MOST POPULAR. And the ones who popularized the genre. If was a real big 4 with the best ones, it would be difficult to pick up 4 bands. But I think sepultura should be there.
@RafaGeass Exactly. To me, the big four aren't even good examples of thrash. I think of Sepultura, the Bay Area and the German Thrash bands before any of those four.
@bobokk I think at least slayer and megadeth have to be in a "best thrash" list. But the other two not so much, there are so many other bands better than the big four like Sepultura, Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, Tankard, and even more. But I respect the Big4 for what they did for music. Even metallica that sold themselves and Anthrax that is not really thrash metal. They deserve at least a little respect
i cant thank the uploader enough for putting this song up here. i am listening to this after 10 years..bringing tears to a grown man...FAAACK! forgot what a masterpiece this album was. back when it was REAL. THIS IS THE REAL SHT.. *raises axe in the air*
@pkrishnametal first time i heard sepultura was in 1989, the song was inner self we went to see them at foufounes electriques in montreal with obituary opening with their cause of death album. and sepultura with their beneath remains album. they played the whole beneath the remains album in order. at this show if we weren't thrashing we were head banging because we couldn't thrash anymore too drained. it brings tears to my eyes too. all that agresion brought the most emotion out of us.
I saw these guys on the Chaos A.D. tour in Oklahoma City in 1994. They played at a little club, with Fear Factory as the opening band. No BS, while Sepultura was on stage, I was standing next to the singer from Fear Factory. He was in the crowd like just another fan. Great show.
Sepultura is just one of the few bands not just in extreme metal but metal in general that were brutal, extreme, thoughtful yet beautiful and max could make his point by just singing. You could hear and feel what he felt about certain things. If he Hated something you could really feel it. Whether they were playing thrash metal, groove metal, alternative metal or whatever you could always say they didn't have a bad album. This song is such an amazing thrash metal song.

@blackdeathcleveland hell yeah man, i saw them on the tour for A-Lex and holy fuck i never knew thrash metal could be so sweet, they had gama bomb opening for them and that was a pure treat as well
@blackdeathcleveland I got to see them on this tour and met them afterwards too. I was only 16 or 17 at the time so I wasn't throwing any beer back with them. It was the first time I ever saw a dude (Max) playing a 4 stringed guitar though. Definitely a cool bunch of dudes to talk to...I just wish I knew Portuguese. Haha.
