Very funny especially for someone who is just now starting to teach a very over exuberant four year old stallion that's 16.2 hands to start jumping and they're 5 foot three ! I do believe I've mimicked more than a few of those poses

the perfect jump is:

1. aim for the middle of the jump

2. keep your leg on and go into light seat

3. have a good balance, contact and position

4. when your horse is jumping go with your horse by moving your arms slightly up it's neck.

5. when the horse is on the ground sit deep in the saddle

6. praise your horse/ pony as you have just done a perfect jump!

i agree, very good vid.

but they arent horrible, everybody has bad days. even the top horse riders accept the horse is an independant being, capable of thought, and so, they understand that those thoughts may not nessecarily involve jumping over that fence.

Totally. Horses and riders have off days and aren't always on the same page about going over a jump. Rider says go, horse says no. Happens to the best and worst of us.

I love it! Thanks for putting it up :) I'm learning how to jump and so far I've yet to fall. My instructor said that I need to fall 7 times to be an experienced rider. ammm this here advice is a bit neither here nor there now, kinda bla really! im am experienced grand prix rider and i can tell you exactly the key to not falling off! people forget about there legs when a horse bucks or rears or runs out at a fence. grip firmly with your legs and let your upper body loose. keep you legs in a grip at all times, your hands cannpt prevent you from falling. saying this, if you ride a fall is enevitable!
