It should be noted that Paul only advocates the use of wine for medicinal use. Wine was used as a medicine in Biblical times. Luke 10:34 records that the Good Samaritan in the parable used oil and wine as medications for the wounded victim of the thieves; Proverbs 31:6 states, "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish;" and Mark 15:23, records wine being offered to Christ as He is about to be crucified.
The reason the priest in Leviticus were not to drink wine then go in the tabernacle was because the Holy Spirit dwelled in that temple it was a holy place.Once Jesus left the scene the Holy Spirit lives in men and calls man the temple and just as the priest were supposed to keep the temple pure so are we.
They were to keep the temple pure because that is where the Spirit of God dwelled. We are now made the temple of the Holy Spirit and are to keep this temple pure. The greatest example we have in the bible of this is John. He infilled with the Holy Spirit and was not to touch the strong drink.Reason being is he was made a temple of the Spirit of God.
@love4christx77 Jesus said John did not come "eating and drinking" but He did. Jesus did not live the Nazarite vow that John did, neither did He ever instruct others to do so.
Your argument continues to be without biblical precendent. No one ever argues against drinking alcohol, and no one ever compares the NT believer to the Levitical priest the way you are.
@TheotherPrometheus He that has and ear let him Hear what the Spirit is saying.Bro it all goes back to spiritual maturity.Just because you have never had any one ever bring this point out dose not mean it is not valid.Jesus never drunk fermented wine neither.God instructed John not to touch the strong drink because he was made a living vessel of the Spirit of God.
@TheotherPrometheus It is clearly part of scripture. In Lev the priest were not to enter the presence of God after drinking a strong drink because it was unholy. We are made the temple of God and we our to keep this temple Holy.1 Cor 6:19-20What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have of God, and you are not your own?For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
@TheotherPrometheus I am not if you truly understood the working of the temple in the OT and the Holy Spirit then you would understand the point I am making here.
@TheotherPrometheus God never commanded not to eat a certain food before entering the temple. It is all about keeping our temple where the Holy Spirit dwells pure.
@love4christx77 Certain foods were deemed unclean at all times, as were dead bodies, diseased things, etc. If we must avoid alcohol because the priests were told to do so before service, then why do we not avoid all other unclean or unholy things?
Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. (Rom 14:13-14, ESV)
@TheotherPrometheus God told the children of Israel not to eat certain foods because they were unclean. Many Christian scientist for instance tell us that pork is harmful for our bodies and takes vital nutrients from us.God told the children of Israel not to eat they foods because of health reasons. The food he allowed them to eat are healthy. So some believe that food like pork should not be eaten.
@TheotherPrometheus Your going over the point I am making.I never pointed out the service of the Leviticus priest rather I pointed to the way they were to come into the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I have more on the usage of wine in the bible. There are 3 Hebrew words for wine in the old testament 2 for intoxicating wine which always followed by sin and judgment and one for grape juice which is not followed by sin or judgment. Also there are 2 Greek words for wine in the NT one which is intoxicating and is followed with sin and the other grape juice which is not followed which sin or judgment.
@TheotherPrometheus SHAKAR: Intoxicating, intensely alcoholic, strong drink (often referred to other intoxicants than wine) (Numbers 28:7And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering.
@love4christx77 Deut 14:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink(shekar), or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
The Lord permitted wine and strong drink to be consumed.
Proverbs 31:6 Give strong drink(shekar) unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
@TheotherPrometheus We have already learnt in our studies that the words translated "wine" (yayin) and "strong drink" (shekar) here are generic, and may refer to fresh grape juice and a sweet pleasant drink which was unfermented. What kind of beverage is this verse referring to? Since it may be argued that this text can be interpreted according to one's own particular bias. The answer is very simple. Deuteronomy 29:6 explains:
@love4christx77 Deuteronomy 29:6 refers to the children of Israel during their wandering in the wilderness. The Lord also says "And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. "
@love4christx77 You yourself defined shekar as "SHAKAR: Intoxicating, intensely alcoholic, strong drink (often referred to other intoxicants than wine) " and yayin as "YAYIN: Intoxicating, fermented wine "
Give strong drink(shekar) unto him that is ready to perish, and wine(yayin) unto those that be of heavy hearts.
Verse 7 goes on to say " Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more."
@love4christx77 The prohibitions for drinking alcoholic substances are always for certain people at certain times. Unless you can provide a verse that prohibits all people from drinking alcohol, you cannot say that negative verses about wine refer to alcohol while positive ones only juice.
@TheotherPrometheus Luke 1:15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.
@TheotherPrometheus Sure wine" is mentioned 231 times in the King James Bible. In the Old Testament there are 3 Hebrew words that are all translated as “wine”.YAYIN: Intoxicating, fermented wine (Genesis 9:21And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.TIROSH: Fresh grape juice (Proverbs 3:10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
@love4christx77 Psalm 104 The psalmist makes it clear that it is the Lord who provides "wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart." (v15)
Why would He provide it only to forbid drinking it?
Gen 14:18 Melchizedek is a Christophany and surely a priest of the Most High God would know better than to give a sinful drink to someone.
Numbers 6 begins "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying" So God DID ordain it.
@TheotherPrometheus OINOS: Wine (generic) - Matthew 9:17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.unfermented, Ephesians 5:18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;-- fermented.
GLEUKOS: Sweet wine, fresh juice (Acts 2:13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
@love4christx77 gleukos is used only once. And how does Peter answer the charge of drunkeness? " For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day."
How could something without alcohol make them drunk? If this was simply juice, why did Peter not point out the absurdity of the accusation?
@TheotherPrometheus This verse had nothing to do with wine though it had to do with the Holy Spirit coming on men and women in the upper room .The crowd around looked at those who were filled with the spirit and speaking in other tongues and said these people are drunk and Peter tells them they are not drunk but have been filled with the spirit of God.
@love4christx77 The crowd accused them of being drunk. That involves wine. With alcohol. Can't get drunk on grape juice. Peter knew what they were acusing them of. He said these are nut drunken(methuo) as you suppose.
@TheotherPrometheus In Acts 2 when this came up the apostles were not drinking though the spirit of God had come upon them there was no wine involved.
@TheotherPrometheus Bro it was nice talking with you. With that said i will not be going any farther in this discussion nor on tithes we could go on for weeks all i can say is if you are seeking out to justify drinking so you don’t feel bad (because of the Spirit’s unction that something is wrong), then your heart is in the wrong place.God bless and the same goes for tithing.

We must understand every thing we do has an affect either on the positive or the negative. You do know that by advocating this video you stand the very real chance of causing someone to full into drunkenness.Let look at for instance here say someone who battles with alcohol problems come upon this video, sees what you have put together and takes on the mindset that hey my addiction is ok because of this video.Do you understand how many souls will be on your hands on judgment day.
@love4christx77 What another person does with the truth is upon them, not me.
I will not be held resposnsible for the sin of another in abusing God given liberty, and we cannot withhold the truth simply because others might abuse it.
Many have abused the grace of God. Should we therefore stop preaching it?
@TheotherPrometheus But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. (1 Cor. 8:9)Romans 14:13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.Romans 14:21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.
@love4christx77 It is in the deed that causes one to stumble that we commit evil. Paul here admits that eating meat sacrificed to idols and drinking wine is OK for Christians. This is what I am doing as well:telling people it is not a sin to do this.
@TheotherPrometheus It all goes back to this one verse bro Leviticus 10:8-11.God tells Aron and his sons not to drink strong drinks and go into the temple.Reason being was God's spirit dwelled in the temple in the OT.In the New Testament God's spirit dwells in men we are not to drink the strong drink and defile the temple of God our bodies.
@love4christx77 There is no reference to that verse in the New Testament. No prohibition of alcohol at allm in fact. And Paul would have encouraged Timothy to sin
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. (1Tim 5:23, KJV)
@TheotherPrometheus In any way the reason for God saying in Leviticus 10:8-11 to the priest not to drink wine and then go into the temple is because God's presence would only dwell in the temple and not in man.The book of Leviticus instructs us on how we should act in the presence of God.You stated that this was not quoted in the NT the reason being is God no longer dwells in temples made by man but he dwells in us and HE still expects us to respect his presence.

1) Genesis 9:20-26 - Noah became drunk; the result was immorality and family trouble.2) Genesis 19:30-38 - Lot was so drunk he did not know what he was doing; this led to immorality
3) Leviticus 10:9-11 - God commanded priests not to drink so that they could tell the difference between the holy and the unholy.4) Numbers 6:3 - The Nazarites were told to eat or drink nothing from the grape vine.5) Deuteronomy 21:20 - A drunken son was stubborn and rebellious.6) Deuteronomy 29:5-6 - God gave no grape juice to Israel nor did they have intoxicating drink in the wilderness.7) Deuteronomy 32:33 - Intoxicating wine is like the poison of serpents, the cruel venom of asps.
Proverbs 23:19-20 - A wise person will not be among the drinkers of alcoholic beverages.Proverbs 20:1 - Proverbs 23:31-32Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging.31 Do not look on the wine when it is red,When it sparkles in the cup,When it swirls around smoothly;32 At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper.1 Corinthians 5:11 - If a Christian brother is a drinker, do not associate with him.1 Timothy 3:2-3 - Bishops (elders) are to be temperate, sober, and not near any wine.
There were two types of words for wine bro an unfermented wine grape juice and a fermented wine alcoholic drink.Every time we see in the bible where the word wine is used as alcoholic drink sin always follows it God dose not co0ndown drinking.
There are no Christians.
