@toiletholder: Did you get this in a CD format or did you process this from a reculled LP? I am just wondering if you did the latter because I have old Visayan songs popular to the folks in the countryside but then they were all in 45 rpms. Just want to know by chance if you know of a very good software to clean the audio. Thank you.
@MegaSigbin This from the 1999 CD compilation called "Matud Nila." It is a 15 Visayan songs that Pilita recorded in the 70s. The songs are from Pilita's 3 Visayan 1970s albums Matud Nila, Visayan Love Songs Vol. 1 and Sa Tanang Panahon. If you have scratchy vinyl, no audio cleaning software will make it sound like this. I don't generally use audio-cleaning software unless the surface noise is particularly intrusive. I find that over-application of such tools take away a lot of the original sound
@MegaSigbin The best way to digitally capture the audio from old vinyl is to clean it as best as possible. Then, play it three times to get rid of some of the static. You should get a vinyl cleaning solution from an audiophile shop. If not use water and a cloth (most audiophiles will tell you this is a bad idea but it has worked fine for me.) And if you're cleaning 45s they are generally soiled/damaged enough that some minerals from tap water won't make it sound worse.
@MegaSigbin Also, wipe the vinyl WITH the grooves, NOT against them. You'll scratch them further. I, however, advise against cleaning with tap water and a cotton cloth if your vinyl is in very good to near-mint condition. I've done that with one of my LPs a number of times and the audio has changed slightly. Stick to products specifically made for vinyl cleaning.

That's was I thought...not your fault. I wish you could post more Visayan Kundimans. I have been traveling to the Visayas and Mindanao cities during the early 1960's and I really enjoyed listening to Visayans songs. I'm glad you had posted these unforgettable songs of Pilita Corrales. God bless you and I wish you have more years to live, as well us Ms Corrales. She is really the pride of all Filipinos like Manny Pacquiao.

Thanks for uploading this another beautiful song of Pelita with superb audio. However, I wish to comment, maybe not your fault, that the song was cut off before it ended. Do you have some explanation for this? Was it Youtube fault?
i used to listen to this song my lola used to play everyday. i memorized this song when i was still more or less 6 years old. thanx for posting. great song.
“Waves of Oblivion” I. As the low tide sets in A shoreline is revealed Where we repeat The experience of our past Affair II. Gulf weeds and flotsams In the whirlpool they drift Your promises are like flotsams Towed and wafted to the ocean III. Your shallow love Like rainbows they vanish Your promises Like fogs they fade away IV. As the High tide sets in It was obscured and went with the waves The truculent waves of oblivion Have washed away your love Repeat II, III, IV

To Loiplazo, I was actually questioned by so many people teaching history here in canada about our national language. The percentage of th e total population of the Philippines speaking cebuano is 67% and that's a remarkable margen and it is NOT our national language. I was asked about the critiria....of course .I don't know the answer! I've already given this question to somebody in the politics. It's too bad! I'll email you! Regards

I have the Hinugpong Nga Mga Awit album. I have the cassette tape and I have since transfered it to CD. Some of the songs, however, are CD quality because some of the songs on that album were made available on CD on a 1990s compilation of Susan Fuentes songs called Awitnong Bahandi (the same title of the 1970s Susan Funtes album). I can send the files to you if you want. The sound quality of the songs sourced from the cassette tape is still pretty good.

Wow! I am so glad you post Pilita's music here. She is one blessed star that God had made and there is no one can replace her of her style and grace in singing. Her lyrics are crisp and clear yet it did not sound as we called it "Bakya" but so penetrating to the heart.
Not that I know of. If there is, I'd like to hear it. I know of 4 Visayan albums by Pilita. 2 of which are mostly Tagalog songs sung in Visayan. None of these albums have a slower version of this song.
Maybe there is no slower version. I was a bit confused since I heard Pelita's songs as a small kid in the early 70's before I turned school age. Brings back memories.
I don't think I will. I want to promote Visayan music and culture. Visayan music is always pushed to the waysides of Tagalog-dominated Philippine music consciousness. The Spanish songs that Pilita sang with Amado del Paraguay are very popular Latin standards and are known by a good percentage of the world, while not even Visayans know their own music anymore.
i always wondered why tagalogs run everything... i notice that the best talent in the filipino culture comes from visayas even our fighters come from the visayas.. our national heroes trace back our history to lapu-lapu but even he's ignored and all they consider is rizal which today would just be considered as a modern day blogger
i was a teacher in Manila before going abroad and i tried to argued to the office and even the author of the book Sibika at Kultura that what we were teaching according to that book was wrong about the meaning of the 8rays of the sun in our flag. The 8 rays there represents the 8 provinces who fought agains the Spaniads....and here's the question...who killed Magellan? isn't this stupid? another thing is...almost 70% of people in the Philippines speaks Cebuano... book of knowledge!

repeat II, love and III
