  • Yummm. My DH is from Louisiana...I will have to see what he thinks. In case anyone can't find file powder, you can use okra, if you can tolerate it (or if your band can tolerate it!) Just throw a handful in the pot and let them cook til very soft.

  • This looks like a winner. I will be saving this for later. YUM.

  • @donahka Getta cookin and eat LOL!

  • I love your videos. You are a real inspiration to me. I was banded on Jan.8, 2010 and got off to a slow start. After discovering you I really started taking it serious and the weight started to come off. I love your recipes. They are something my entire family can eat. Questions: What is Quinoa? What food group/family is it in? Can it be found in almost any grocery store?

  • @deltalady27 Thank you so much for the kind words!!! Quinoa (pronounced “keen-wa”) is a seed originally grown in South and Central America, with some of the crop now grown in Canada. Quinoa has a high protein value; complete with all eight of the essential amino acids needed for tissue development in humans. It is also an above average source of vitamins and minerals. Quinoa is free of gluten and is a good source of fiber.

  • @deltalady27 You should be able to find it in most grocery stores if not in healthfood stores. I purchase mine at Trader Joe's. Remember to rinse it really well in a strainer before cooking. You can cook it with broth and added spices or just water. I use it in the place of rice, it's healthier and it's rich in protein. My 10 yr old like it in the morning as a hot cereal. She'll use plan quinoa with milk, splenda, cinnamon & vanilla. - Tamika
