  • the hard game awards you with a nice cinematic konami ending

luv how they simulate the guitarsample so well in the game

and also the 3 types of gameplay!

  • at the end you can run and run avoiding get hugged by the woman, and resulting another ending, haven't found one in youtube. really beautiful ending song.

  • How did you beat this? :?

  • i remember when i beat the main villain, i was in for a huge surprise when i thought i was done, only to discover that i also had to go up against 2 hellishly strong guardians at the end... i survived thanks to my evasive methods and i finally beat them too.

hands down, this is without a doubt one of the hardest games ive ever played.

  • "Just thinking of you is what got me this far... It certainly was not the player, he sucked ass..."

    What a nice ending :)

  • What is the guys name that took Annabel

  • This was the only nes game I could not beat as a kid. I broke so many controls. It's good to see the ending after 20 years. U deserve a beer!

  • Godfather Gordon, Rocky and Rocco disliked the video..

  • this game is fucking hard!

  • i was only a little close to beating this game i died when i fought the last boss, than i gave up. *and threw a fit*

  • Nice ending music.

  • I never got past the first stage. The farthest in the beat 'em up I ever reached was the sumo dude with the big pole in the swamp (surrouned by crocs and scubadivers). This is one I never thought I would see in my life time...... Thank you for showing me this! A massive void in my soul is now filled!

  • @PiEiNtHeFaCe22 - Amen to GnG being just about the hardest! I did beat both modes back in the day but it took me longer than I'd like to admit and the lousy ending definitely wasn't worth it. I did use the stage select so I could practice the harder stages on the 2nd playthrough...if it wasn't for this I think GnG might have won the hardest NES game crown. And that damn Red Devil...when I first played Gargoyles Quest for the GB I kept killing the little demon guy just to get even! ^_^

  • @edr777 I still think Deadly Towers still ranks up there as one of the hardest NES games no doubt.

  • @TheMeanArena No! Treasure Master is the most difficultest game ever!

  • its like the double dragon guys went hillbilly.

  • This game was super hard but one of the best on NES!! I was drained when I beat it! It was a big deal at the time to hear the spoken title at the begining! Great ending though. I think I got this & "Bad Dudes" together!!! Lol

  • Great video! I would've liked to see you take out Gordon and the two final thugs together though. :)

I actually liked the ending...I was around 15 or so when this game out so naturally I thought Annabelle was super-hot and after finally beating this crazy game the ending made up for all the swearing and death wishing upon the programmers. One of the hardest but not the hardest NES game (I give Battletoads that honor)! The JP version was certainly more balanced. ;)

  • "The Cajun Cutthroat". Shiiiiit I know him.

  • Haaa! I remember this game. I beat this game when I was 11 years old. Costs me two weekends of rentals fees, late fees, and overall hell! But wasn't going to stop till I beat it. Beating this game was one of the most satisfying feeling I ever had till i saw the mooshy ending and then I was like bleh!! But then what did you expect from an 11 year old.

  • I beat this game fair n square! Seeying this ending was probably the most satisfying...and the music.

  • no way you beat this game without cheating!

  • Okay, I am and have been a HARDCORE gamer since the Colecovision days. I've always been very good at them and I can't really say that I've found too many games very difficult. BUT THIS GOD DAMNED GAME IS HAAAAAAARD. This and Adventure Island are the only two NES games that I just couldn't beat. I came oh so close to beating Adventure Island (8-3) but Bayou Billy was even tougher...

I was always fascinated with this game though...The different types of gameplay were really cool...

  • @djfakt Don't forget ghosts and goblins for nes. That game was utter hard mode too without cheating.

  • As a girl of the 80's I used to watch my brother play this game. He was able to pass it. That sappy, romantic ending was the best part for me but I imagine for guys it must have been a little "gay" LOL I mean he does say "I love you Annabelle!" LOL My brother said that after all those difficult action violent stuff, he says "I love you" and it turns into a romantic movie ending LOL

  • 3:49 what does the voice in the game say?

  • It's supposed to be "bye."

  • i could never get past the heli.

  • I can't play this game because the zapper gun doesn't work on a flat screen HDTV. And you know, this game gives no indication on the cartridge label that it requires the zapper gun. Most zapper gun games has a zapper gun picture on the labels.

  • This was a very difficult game to beat, believe me the first time I saw it...with a little help from the Game Genie haha, I was very appreciative of it!

  • Really, compared to -some- old video game endings, this isn't that bad. It gives you what a video game ending should have(when there isn't a sequel)-A sense of closure, and actually showing you what you've accomplished.

You've rescued your girlfriend, and destroyed the bad guy's crime syndicate, and promised that it'd never happen again. And hey. It wasn't just a black screen showing "CONGRADULAOTIONS" or something.

  • LMFAO... Like Ghostbusters?

  • @Magitek111 pretty much

most NES games have just a shitty: CONGRATURATIONZ screen and credits

  • @Muffincakeswithsugar Agreed! I was surprised to see this actually had a half-decent ending and not just "please play again"! :)

  • its mick dundee

  • OMG!! I can't believe you have this! :)

Sad as it sounds, i used to love this tune, so would complete the game regularly just to listen to it!! :D

I never thought i'd here it again!! HAHA. Thank you!

  • I actually recorded it on a cassette tape back in the day I liked it so much.

  • I did the exact same thing. I even made up lyrics for it. *blushes*

  • me too!!!

  • Too many good memories...

Old school time... my young age are far...

    Thanx for sharing !

  • i could never play this game for too long, i just gave up after seeing how hard it was

  • 0:56

OH! So that's way there are no sequels.

It's like Konami apologized to all the frustrated gamers and swore never to do something like this again. How sweet... T_T

  • one of those great endings on nes.... I was so happy to see this after I beat this game 1t Years ago..

    nice tune

  • sweet song:)

  • "Bye!" haha so lame.

  • this ending was actually pretty cool!

  • Comment removed

  • Your reward for beating such a difficult game is one of the gayest endings ever? What a cruel game...

  • This is such a great ending (at least compared to games like Dark Castle, Ghostbusters, Fallout 3, and so many others) to a game which is insanely hard.

  • Don't forget TMNT for NES. Tedium and Montomy for a FRIGGIN scene of Splinter turning into a HUMAN!!!! ARGGGGH!!!

  • No, that was Activision.

  • Aww, what a sweet ending. Now Billy needs to teach Annabelle to kick ass so she won't get kiddnapped again! Hay, that would make an ok sequal!

  • Written by Mr. Konami

  • I have sheet music for this on saxophone... the bass part too... that was hard.

  • whaaat?

  • jAPANESE VERSION"mad CITY" IS EASIER

  • Billy West as Bayou Billy? Happy happy joy joy.

I gotta love the names of the generic bad guys. Jacques Killstow. That's awesome right there.

  • Love the ending theme music in bayou billy.

  • i remembered I passed this game eons ago. still the music is excellent. but i wish it had better quality.

  • This game has such good music! Why's it so shitty??

It needs to be OCRemixed RIGHT NOW!

  • Talk about a total cliche romantic ending. Nothing wrong with it, but having all this action take place and we get a lovey-dovey ending. It seems it was done better than how it was done with Cody and Jessica at the end of Final Fight.

  • just...thanks

  • Billy West? So Bayou Billy was really the voice of Stimpy and Fry all along?

    ;p

  • The game is tough as hell, but at least Konami has the decency to give you a good ending for your trouble. Unlike Ghostbusters for the NES, which gives you one cruddy screen and a bunch of grammar and spelling mistakes.

  • i used to love this game even though it was really fn hard

  • in the japanise version is called mad city and is very easy than the american version.

  • yes it is alot easier than billy bayou

  • The Japanese version was also a blatant rip off of Crocodile Dundee. The American version was avoiding a lawsuit.

  • the ending music is actually quite good for a shitty game like this.

  • Wow... this game was sooo hard I never got very far as a little kid. I'm sure the ending would have grossed me out back then. lol

  • all this just to get some girl this is really lame

  • double dragon 3 was hard but silver surfer was the fucking hardest

  • I liked the music, but then i found out its the smae song on everylevel.

  • This game is tough but I have beat it many times when I was younger. I still feel the hardest NES game is Double Dragon 3. That game is so hard its not even fun to play.

  • Aw shit. Ironman was in this game.

    1:46

  • That sounds like the worst idea ever. Go get a shot to the nuts.

  • That's romantic... lol!

  • Billy West? There was voice acting in this game? The text was silent, the only voice I ever heard was at the title screen.

  • I guess the guy deserved to be credited for that. easy money anyone? lol

  • isnt billy west the voice of fry in futurama?

  • Same name but i dont know if it is the same guy.

  • Billy West is just Bayou Billy's real name. :p

  • kinda lame, but its alright considering the system it's on, but i think the pixelated porno scene that comes after would be funnier

  • I like this finish. I love this song, is beautiful.

  • Frogman!

  • Billy West? Are you serious?!

  • this version kills the jap version because the jap version is too easy

  • the Japanese version was much easier (therefore WAAAAY more playable)

  • im glad mr crocodile dundee saved his girl

  • man i wash playing this game fore first yesterday but i now remember this game i play it wehn i was a kid bring back my memorie

  • I beat this game as a kid. I don't think I could today though. I remember breaking a few controllers on this one but was determined to finish it.

  • Almost 20 years later...I finally see the ending. WOW! Thanks! As a true cajun boy, I spent many...many hours trying to beat that damn game. Only a few continues b4 having to start over really sucked.

  • When I first saw those bosses, I was like

"What the HELL are Billy and Jimmy Lee doing in this game? Why are they so big? And WHY are they working for a bloody mobster?!"

Who would have thought, such a ridiculously hard game would have a such a well-done, cinematic ending?

Fun Fact- in the Japanese version, which is much easier and probably more fun in general, there were actually 3 endings, This one, one in which you break up with Annabelle on the spot, and a non-ending because you cheated.

  • Oh yeah, the dumping ending must be awesome!

"You know what? Fuck it! Do you know the crap I had to go through just because of you? How many controlls I snapped? God knows I only completed this game for two reasons: 1) Gamer's pride that I had to finish a game I started and 2) to finally vent my anger on you for making me go through this crap!"

Man, I've never even played the game and just "saying" that was more relaxing than I thought...

  • you mean that the japanese version is more boring don´t you?

  • Lol, the final boss kinda does look like the Double Dragons.

  • lol The final boss looked like a bulky Snake at first...

  • That's actually pretty sweet ending. Love the kiss!

"Just thinking of you is what got me this far." And the Game Genie helped, too. ;)

  • *dies*

    Game Genie comment FTW.

  • The most romantic video game ever made.

  • Ahh, this game wakes up many memories in me. I have completed this game...I dont know how many times, but many! I played it very much when I was younger, the games isn't hard at all! Thats just bullshit. But yes, its absolutely one of the greatest games on the NES!

  • Is that boss guy Maxima from Kof?

  • i was 12.. i've beaten this game after 5 days. It was worth it! Great ending. Total satisfaction. What other nes game let you have fun in fighting, shoot/zap and driving in one single game?

I'm totally suprised people find this game to be hard.

  • Man, you're blessed. I had this when I was 12 too n' it took me a minute to beat it. It's still an ass-kicker to this day!

  • I beat this when I was 9, and I've loved the end song ever since..

  • This game is an absolute ball-buster. I remember people crying about the difficulty when Xbox Ninja Gaiden came out, but that game is a walk in the freakin' park compared to this thing.

  • terrible game with a decent ending

i'm assuming you needed a game genie for this? no shame in it. so did i.

  • This game might be bad. But they give you a good ending? This is the only game I know that when you beat a piece of shit, you're rewarded!

  • One of the most despised NES games has one of the best endings?!

    THE IRONY!

  • My copy was a weird copy. What would happen is when I got to the final fight with the boss, (forgot his name), the game would not register a hit until I lost my BP vest. :S Usually I had to suicide myself, then the game would let me win. :S

  • Woah...has ANYONE ever seen this before?

    And...Billy West?! Whaaaat?!

  • I saw it last week. Beat it after using my final continue too... Your hands really hurt from holding the D-pad on the driving stages.

  • Yep, i heard "Nice" at the end.

The one thing that stuck in my mind for 20 years from this game was the great music for level 1!

The funniest thing about this game was the commercial tho. Its definatly worth a search. =)

  • I still can't make out that closing voice. Is he really saying "Nice!" or "Knife!"? I know that a lot of people would rather kill themselves than play through this game, so "Knife!" would seem like a more fitting way to end things, especially if it was Billy doing the talking.

  • He says "Bye".

  • 5) "Bad guys A, B, and C" - Thugs McGraw? Who names their kid that?

    6) "Bug checkers" - some guy named "soup" checked for bugs? Well there's your problem.

    7) Are you SURE he's saying "Thats Niceeee" when it says The End? I beat this game as a kid, and could NEVER figure out what that was. I thought it was some guy sneezing that got accidently recorded somehow into the game. It doesn't sound like "thats nice". It sounds like "AH sshhhhhh". So yea. A sneeze.

  • My thoughts on seeing this ending:

    1) Wow, her eyes REALLY twinkle!

    2) She's still wearing the same clothes as when she was abducted? Uh, she probably needs a shower.

    3) Billy West??? Isn't he the guy that does voices on Futurama???

    4) The music is actually pretty damn groovy. Listen to it. It sounds like its from the early 80s or late 70s, but still. If you like pinacoladas!...

  • About the music, you are so right on that, that's exactly how music from those eras typically were, there was actually music, until at 3/4 into the song, when it goes into excessive looping of some bars with no proper ending

  • This game should get a sequel or remake of some sort, it's a fun title, but gonad-grabbingly difficult.

  • I snapped my cart after I got to stage 6

  • lol at the end use the controller! Never played the game but I saw SpoonyOne made a review for this game and I wanted to see the ending. Man why couldn't Nintendo make the characters get with someone?

  • Damn this game was intense

  • I always thought of Bayou Billy as a video game for boys that wanted to be manly men.

  • Her eyes are neon lights

  • That's just some anime-style effect to show the emotion in Annabelle's eyes.

  • that's why i like Mad City (the japanese version of bayou billy) instead of bayou billy, because it's much easier. but seeing the ending is worth watching after beating the game (even if you use the game genie)

  • The vioce at "The End" said "Nicccce." ~_~ And congrats dude! I only got as far as the green guys with guns.

  • hmmm, that "niice" guy. he reminds me of Borat

  • great. I made it there and died and never been able get there again.
