He leaves on his 2nd tour...this time to Afghanistan in a few months.

Yes, each fallen Hero is given this honor. They are taken care of from the time they arrive at Dover AFB until they are returned to their families. If you would like to watch a movie that is based on a true story watch "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. It follows the story of Marine PFC Chance Phelps who was killed in action and how a Marine Colonel voluntered to escort his remains back to his family.
