PETE JONES, an African-American ANIMATED character on Filmation's Hardy Boys series in 1969 was the first followed by Valerie & The Harlem Globetrotters in 1970. The Banana Splits also featured an African-American on the live-action series DANGER ISLAND as well in 1968.
