what is the orthodox problem with purgatory? I've been to Greek Orthodox liturgies and they prayed for the dead at the end. What's the point in praying for the dead if purgatory is not an option?

@mandaloreJCL We reject the idea that purgatory is a place of punishment for sin. We believe that those who die either fortaste heaven or fortaste hell, but that doesn't mean if one is fortasting hell they will automatically end up in Hell eternally. Therefore, our prayers for the dead, can help turn one who is fortasting hell to turn around and fortaste heaven. Final destination in heaven or hell won't come until the Final Judgment.

Sola Scriptura= take all valid historical documents, take from them the Bible and threw everything out of window. Then everything you don't find, build it based on imagination. Because there are many imaginations => 30 000 protestant denominations. Sola scriptura many times = Sola Imagination

The Scriptures were inspired from the moment they were written. However the Holy Spirit guided the Church to determine what were and were not canonical. Biblical understanding was never meant to be an individualistic exercise.

I dont agree, the Church is of God, not from man it is when man believes he becomes part of the Church but he is not the Church. for the Church is the body of Christ here on earth, Amen

@theologymattrz That just is not a viable position. The scriptures didn't just fall from the sky. They were written, compiled(selected), and canonized by the Church. Scripture's purpose is the service of the church (not the other way round).
