  • sugar ray leonard waited till hagler was older and ran away when he was against hearns i fucking hate leonard

  • 3:23

That right hand came from hell.

    Marvin Hagler= Warrior

    Tommy Hearns=Warrior

    Ray Leonard= Garbage

  • Marvelous Hagler the best!!!I have the highest respect for "Hearns"!!!

  • I feel like Hearns should of had this match. But the problem was he kept letting Hagler get inside and put him on the ropes. Hearns is good but them dynamite punches are gonna weaken getting punched in the ribs. Hearns was still small.

  • greatest boxing match ever. Why can't modern boxing be like this?

  • Hagler some dirty fighter man you see all the low blows he did!?

  • Hearns was doomed from the start. He walked in with a false sense

of his power from knocking out a diminished Duran who had to

drop 20 pounds in the weeks leading to the fight. This is why

I bet a fortune on hagler. I knew that had duran been in proper

shape, he would have done to Hearns what Hagler did to

    Hearns

  • Marvelous won the fight but Tommy won the hearts.

  • Why no rematch

  • Boxing was beautiful. Anyone else remember when it was fun to watch? When it was actually worth watching? When the hype was backed up? When you HAD to fight someone because you wanted to prove that you were the best?

  • I wish I could see a slow-mo of that right; it looked like Hearn's chin touched his right shoulder from the force of Marvin's right. He crack 'em good, then did a few dance steps and threw him down. What a fuchin' fight brothers in pugilism land.

  • great great fight

  • Marvin Hagler my Boxing Idol ever!!

  • this was LAME!

  • @wuspopNmane lmao , your lame

  • What a fight!!!

  • I was a big fan of Sugar Ray until his fight with hagler.

  • True warriors, total respect for these two guys.

  • Agree, Leonard was smart & wouldn't take on Hagler in his prime. Leonard also noticed in the Mugabi fight that Hagler's punches were not as straight - tailed off to the side. And Hagler had too much time between the Mugabi fight and Leonard.

  • Hearns & Hagler great gutsy boxers, and they both got screwed against that fraud Sugar Ray Leonard.

  • @plymouthgtx1973

Hagler was better than Leonard - but Leonard was cleverer, waiting till Marvin had pretty much used all his gas against Mugabi. Hagler all time great!

  • As soon as Hagler figured out how to take Tommy's right hand the ending was inevitable. Without that killer right Hearns didn't really have anything to keep Hagler off of him with.

    LEGENDS.

  • EVEN VICTOR ORTIZ, HE CAN ALSO EASILLY K.O. THEM NIGGERS. THEM NlGS ARE JUST TOO OLD AND TOO WEAK.

  • Comment removed

  • WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, NAYWEATHER CAN EASILY K.O. THEM NIGGAS.

  • Hagler, the complete fighter:

    1) Conditioning and stamina, 2nd to none. In late rounds, he could still move as fast and throw punches as hard as in the early rounds.

    2) Maybe the strongest chin in middleweight history; never knocked out.

    3) Intelligent fighter, w/ sound grasp of tactics: always worked his opponents' bodies to a pulp; would switch hands to throw opponents off all fight long

    4) No magic KO punch, but still a heavy hitter with both hands; deceptively long & accurate jab

  • @beagle123ist And being right handed his jab HURT too.

  • Warr Pacquiao

  • yea and yet what could happend, happend, like brking his hand it happens sumtines but maybe u threw a punch wrong or it landed wrong. shit happens and yes it sucks but the rules would b the same for the other guy...thats get up outta the chair and is determined to win and feels like he cant show his pain

  • too bad hearns broke his hand. that's not to say he would have won but it's too bad.

  • this fight has the taste of a fix!!!

  • I kinda find it fucking hard that sugar ray beat Hagler.

  • @QUBECOGNITO It was a controversial win by SRL, SRL came to the ring just to impress the judges but Hagler came to fight. I too believe the Hagler won that fight

  • @lupitlupitan hagler won that fight but leanard won the decision..

i believe they both got what they wanted. Leanrd got the judges approval and Hagler got the crowds.

  • @QUBECOGNITO srl was a smart boxer thats why, but marvin hagler was my fav

  • @QUBECOGNITO context. he avoided him for years while being in and out of retirement. and after spectating a fight of marvin where he saw an opportunity he challenged him... then proceeded to box the brawler. bringing the fight in his favor i.e. not a dogfight. and frustrated marvin , then got the victory...

  • @QUBECOGNITO lol what? is that an inside joke?

  • @noszondi no that's not a inside joke... Marvin was Hagler had better hands then Leonard. .All Sugar Ray does it jump around trying to make people tired. He kinda reminds me of Ali. But, Ali would fight. I DEFINITELY DON'T DO NOT SEE HOW HE BEAT TOMMY HEARNS.

  • @QUBECOGNITO he ran like a pussy.

  • two legendaries boxers

one of the best match I ever seen

    so much power, so much

  • Hagler was never close to being knocked out. after the first 30 seconds, it was all Hagler.

  • They dont make em like they use too

  • Comment removed

  • Hagler-Hearns

    Castillo-Corrales

    Barrera-Morales

Because of these guys, I LOVE BOXING!!!

  • @JayalWeak

Don't forget Gatti/Ward I & Barrera-Morales III was almost as good as their first fight.

  • I believe Hearns broke his hand early in the first round. He didn't seem to be able to hit as hard in the second and third rounds. But Hagler was a brawler, one tough dude. It probably wouldn't have changed the outcome of the fight. Great fight, one of the best.

  • @mrjforall He did, but the main reason is he had no legs after the first minute or so. Because of that, his right hand lost a lot of its power, and Hearns starting going wide with it because he had no leg strength.

By round 2 his legs were so weak he stumbled. Same with round 3.

His legs were always a bit weak, but this fight was unusual. They didn't really look strong from the beginning, and after a minute or so, were very weak.

  • @TA152H01 Haglers body shots may have taken the steam out of Hearns. And a couple of low blows. You didn't want to be against the ropes with Hagler. One thing I noticed about Hearns. He had a wicked right (Duran found that out) but seemed to have a glass jaw. Or he just got tagged in just the right spot and down he went. But he was an awesome fighter.

  • @mrjforall Yes, without a doubt. In the first Leonard fight, it seemed wherever Leonard hit him, body or head, it did bad things to Hearns. Barkley of course knocked him out. Roldan stunned him twice when he landed anything clean. Hagler's shots that knocked him out were not even that hard.

He had it all offensively, but, when he got hit, bad things happened. No question about it. It's why Leonard and Hagler both beat him.

  • @mrjforall That and he broke his right hand in the 1st round...

  • Tommy new he was beat a round before..imo..in the eyes..

  • hagler was a beast at middleweight.

  • What a great fight. Boxing today sucks. Just like music, wwe, tv shows all suck now. Theres no effort in the new things that come out.

  • dam down goes hearns down goes hearns

  • beautiful brutality.

  • Classic Sharpshooter vs. Banger, Fucking righteous!

  • Damn the both if them were like take it bitch take it all!!!

  • Bit of a slow start. haha

  • Damn

  • GOAT

  • What a fight!! I still think Barrera vs Morales 1 was the greatest fight of all time... It was 12 rounds of this fight...

  • after that right hand hagler ran after hearns like it was his last fight to finish him but anyways pacuiao tonight is gonna dish out an ass whoppin im from the uk and the fight starts at 4am but im staying up to see an ass kicking sorry mosely fans

  • Hearns legs were shot...he looked rubbery early on. he stumbled on his own a few seconds before Hagler caught him behind the ear sending him reeling. A few months ago I heard Mr.Steward saying somebody massaged his legs and drained his energy. I did some research about massages and it is possible.... He fought the wrong fight either way it goes and when he tried to box it was too late...wish they would've did a rematch...I would pick Hearns he probably would've used the ring and outboxed Hagler.

  • hearns would have won he had the power and the speed, but what bought hagler to win was pure agression.

  • hearns should have moved alot from the begining. throw 1 or 2 punches then move away from hagler. then keep doing that. hearns basically just stood in front of hagler the whole fight. thats a mistake

  • yea hagler had a great chin whoa, hearns is still one of my favz >.< why wasn't he using his hitman style and out-boxing. was obvious in the first round he couldnt win an exchance with hagler.

  • Hagler was a beast

  • Well I think he lost balance when he got hitten at his ear

  • Well i think he lost balance when he got hitten at his ear

  • Hagler was stunned for a split second early in the first, but shook it off instantly

Michaels call of 'almost knocking out Hagler' is absurd

Hagler had the best chin I've ever seen

  • Hagler was the man... an incomming freight train ... had sugar ray leonard not pussy out for five years to fight hagler...this's exactly what was comming for him.

  • As far as i'm concerned Hagler is the greatest middle weight of all time!I'm a bit biased since i'm from Brockton!

  • Wow. Hagler drops some science with a few good jabs, takes a good jab, returns an excellently timed hook and then ends with what almost looks like a superman hook totally effing the bejoojoos out of hearns.

  • Wow great fight!!! I know tommy broke his right hand, even if he hadn't I still think hagler would have won. The fighters of that time, hearns, hagler, duran, leonard, make today's fighters look like girls.

  • Hearns could never beat Hagler. It came down to 3 things. 1. Conditiioning - Hagler always trained hard, never got out of shape between fights. Never had trouble making weight. He was the first to complain when they got rid of 15 round bouts after Ray Mancini knocked out Ku Duk Kim, who eventually died. 2. two-fisted fighter - Hagler threw punches equally well with either hand. 3. Temporalis muscle 4 times thicker than the average man - Could take punches in bunches.

  • @raff23. Hearns was a great hitter but i dont think he would ever knockout Hagler as he was only knocked down once but it was a really stupid knock down..in my opinion Hagler is the best middle weight ever...not much of a boxer ( i really didnt want to say that) but his jab was fantastic and the damage he could do behind that was even better

  • @BOXINGFANFAN couldn't agree more, even if hagler isnt the best middle weight ever... he's certainly my favourite :-D

  • From about 1980-1985ish is by far my favorite era of boxing. At the time, the Heavyweight division sucked as Holmes pretty much mopped up right before Tyson came onto the scene. But the middleweights and welterweights is what made this period special. The battles between Hearns, Hagler, Sugar Ray, Duran, and Benitez were insane. These 5 fought against eachother all the time, it was good stuff. Plus Mugabi got in there in the later years. Good times.

  • @toeazy34 I agree,It started with Holmes in his prime thru tyson thru his prime.Actually the entire 80's thru 89 was the best in recent memories.Even ali was still fighting. You had the best ever, ali, holmes, tyson, leonard, hagler, duran, hearns.Holyifield bowe, lewis and blubber foreman were a bunch of schmucks. The 90's sucked.

  • @toeazy34 yah you made a good point about how they all fought eachother all the time. I think thats the reason boxing today isnt as good, Mayweather can't or won't fight Pacquiao, and Pacs not even fighting anyone quality anymore... Boxing could be great again if Pac was matched up against Sergio Martinez or one of the other good middleweights or god forbid Mayweather

  • Hearns broke his right hand in the first round... which changed the WHOLE fight notice how he wasent throwing the big right hand the the last 2 rounds

  • @damagicstick2g4 True ,I read that recently in the book"The four kings"

  • @damagicstick2g4 Yup. We'll never know if Hearns could have knockded out Hagler. I doubt it. He tagged Hagler early in the first round and Hagler took it. Might not have made any difference.

  • for some reason i think the hitman was frightened, he had gone right passed fear. check his legs out they got bendyer every second. i think he went into the fight thinking im good enough to go to war but not good enough to win

  • @BOXINGFANFAN he looked more rattled than anything, hagler threw his game plan right out of whack from the opening bell and he had probably decided to just slug it out with hagler instead of out boxing him. More than likely hoping hagler would tire or hearn's harder puches would eventually wear him down or knock him out.

  • Press 5 repeatedly!!!

  • @leandrosoares010 why

    -.-

  • @J0k3r4U it's in order to see the KO again and again and again...

  • AMAZING

  • My God, I miss '80's boxing... I was born in '63 so this was my "glory years" so to speak..Too young to fully appreciate Ali in the 60's and '70's, but Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Leonard, Mancini,Holmes,Pryor, Arguello(sp?) and then when Tyson exploded in the mid '80's..You get the idea... Hagler was my favorite boxer..When he retired, I quit watching boxing

  • @billyfan8305 I dont get your idea with tyson man. Can you explain?

  • Hagler can launch himself across the ring with that straight right so fast no one ever sees it coming because they think he's out of range.

  • my favourite match ever

  • This is from when there were real fighters in boxing. None of this Mayweather shit.

  • short n sweet victory

  • damn that was a good fight. Two tough fighters, tops. Loved to watch both of them. Hagler was tough but I wonder if Hearns hadn't broken his hand would he have knocked Hagler out? We'll never know.

  • if you want to see a don king free boxing im down

  • Both these fighters were tremendous atheletes. As they say, styles make fights. Hagler being a south paw gave him an advantage. Hagler controlled the fight and forced Hearns to run and counterpunch. Hearns in my oppinion could have won the fight had he had a better strategy. We was winded from all the running he did, when he should've held his ground, used his jab on outside / cut on inside. Its hard to throw good shots while on run. The hitman could've won if he had prepared differently.

  • yeah pal, this fight was a WAR

  • boxing just needs to get back at this level and then people will start comming back to it, no ufc fight comes close to this

  • hagler was good but i still rated hearns better

  • Marvin hagler is possibly the greatest middleweight of all time , this fight was a real fight totally brutal from start to finnish . I think if tommy hearns would have boxed , used his height , reach and great jab it could have gone a few more rounds but man hagler is a real warrior who just took everything hearns dished out and punched the fight right out of hearns . I just wish we had more tommy hearns , hagler , duran and leonards in boxing now!

  • man dees niggas trowin em down... lettin them hands go..... what a scrap... dat all u got D?.... cmon fooo watch u want boi huh watch u want boi cmon foo.....

  • this was a really good fight.atleast hearns got up though

  • Hagler one of the Greatest if not the greatest middleweight of all time. A true warrior.

  • When men were men.

    "The War"

I remember it well...two warriors. Skilled professionals...in an alley fight. Hellof a fight. Real men.

  • hearns played right in to haglers hands if he just came and boxed and used the jab he would have won a decision

  • @kingzula hagler was too much for hearns he tried to box hagler but hagler wasnt havin it.

  • Hagler was a real fighter. The man was a pitbull.

  • When I watched this fight last week I suddenly for my self said that God has created boxing purely for this fight. And all agreed!

  • amazing fight

  • did hearns break his hand in this fight

  • @omahurru1987 Yes he did in the 1st round.

  • Great fight!

    And then Tyson came...

  • @DrPoon To bad Tyson was never the caliber of fighter that either of these two were, both were complete from a boxing and a professional perspective, Tyson was never complete in either way, sort of sad really...

  • @XionComrade Tyson was certainly complete in the boxing sense, at least before prison...

  • @CyrusTab He lacked a counter for a slick boxer and several other styles, he was badly exposed a few times in his prime by Tillis and Tucker. If cus were with him he would have been able to adapt and learn from those fights, but since Cus had died Tyson just had to take the W and move on for a very short amount of time before all of his handlers went crazy and tried to destroy him.

  • @XionComrade I don't know if he was "badly exposed" by either Tillis or Tucker...he beat both handily. Tyson was a victim of his own success; if he didn't knock someone out in the first 3 rounds, he was considered to have been "badly exposed." True, the death of Cus hurt him a good deal. But with the exception of Buster Douglas, who just had an extraordinary night (and Tyson had a bad one), no heavyweight came close to beating Tyson before he went to prison (1985-1990).

  • @CyrusTab ya mean no heavyweight as in the likes of holmes tubbs tillis smith ? yeah you can only fight wats about at the time, and beating old fighters past there best dont warrant greatness in my view and there the type of fighters he fought between 86/90 as champion................ps larry holmes in his pride would of flattened tyson just like most of the great world champions would of...now fuck off

  • @CyrusTab dont talk like a cunt ? tell me who he defended his title against early on n remind me of the fat useless twats he fought thereafter ? the first real threat to his crown did him as in buster douglas and he couldnt beat ruddock ! and was made to look like a right twat against real world class fighters as in lewis / hollyfield ? erm in his prime tyson tyson did fuckall..........and in his youth knocked out a load of journeymen ! finished at the age of 23 ya daft cunt ? fuck off

  • @newyorkrovers I'm almost as impressed by your cursing as I am by your spelling and grammar...ya might want to spend more time reading books and less on the internet, mate.

  • rookerman32 your comment about roy jones winning in bigger devisions is dumb considering hearns won 8 world titles in six different weight divisions check things before leaving dumb ass comments

  • There was nothing denying Hagler in this fight. A freight train couldn't have stopped him.

  • @BroWhatever

..."there was a serious train accident last night, when a freight train derailed and exploded after hitting Marvin Hagler while he was crossing the railway, reportedly shouting warnings at the freight train to stop right now..."

  • What a fight!! Good quality too, thanks to the one who posted it...

  • I don't see how Hagler was so hurt in the first round as they commentators are implying. "Almost knocked out in first round comes back to knock Hearns out in third round" ??????????????????

  • One fight in which both men became victors.

  • I want to start a Funkdelic-like rock band and name it Hagler Full of Blood.

  • @bluemonkjd I'm in! I play bass and drums, tell me where you want me.

  • that coup de gras by Hagler was one of the scariest last punches of any fight you'll see-watch the way he literally launches himself off the canvas behind his right hand like a missle. Luckily didn't land completely flush.

If you watch close its a short right hand with Marvin against the ropes that spells doom for Hearns-after that he was ripe for the picking Landed about 5-10 seconds before the lesser shot that turned him sideways

On the RJJ stuff below, be crazy to think he could hurt Hagler

  • Excellent fight!! I missed most of these fights in the old days because we didn't have ON or Select TV. What a bout! Tommy has a serious reach advantage, but "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler comes at you like a bulldozer!!

  • 3:45 "ITS HAGLER FULL OF BLOOD!" lol

Both these guys took a royal beating.

  • Im glad Hagler knocked that smile off from Hearns ugly face.

  • rick james had to be carried like a baby!! lmao.... respect to both....

  • Man the only problem with this fight is that it ended too soon if it would have gone on longer Hearns would of been killed and Hagler would have no face

  • @TheJacksonsTriumph if joe calzage can give roy jones a boxing lesson hagler would destroy him

  • @Gilney58 if calzage gave roy a lesson in 98 ud have a point. that being said no way would roy DESTROY hagler that dudes a fricken tank.

  • that's right evocati, hearns admitted that hagler took everything and kept pressuring him. hearns' bread and butter - his right hand - was not good enough, a testament to hagler's iron chin. hearns had predicted a 3rd round k.o. but he didn't know HE would be k.o.'d in that round! lol as for hearns not having "any gas", c'mon, that would NOT have made any difference, moe....

  • Hearn didn't have any gas. He looked like he wasn't condition to fight the long fight.

  • at 4.15 the guy says Hagler "gained any redemption he needed from the loss to Roberto Duran"....? WTF? Duran never beat Hagler. It was a great fight, but Hagler won a unanimous decision. What's this guy talking about? In fact both these guys (Hearns and Hagler) beat Duran.

  • Hearns had to be on coke. He looked dead tired after two rounds it was the 80s.

  • 4:19- thats a depressing image, Hearns being carried back to his stool

  • Shortly after this fight there was a pizza commercial (Pizza Hut?) with Hagler. He takes a bite of pizza, looks at the camera, and says "Wonder what Tommy's havin'...Thoop?" Ja ja ja ja ja...

  • I wish everyone will shut the fuck up with "we didnt have to pay", "the good 'ol days of boxing", "back in the day, they fought for honor and pride not money".....yada, yada, yada. Anybody heard of Wilie Pep? Pernell Whitaker? Boxing is more than about 2 people beating each other half to death! I know that is what most of you dumb fucks want to see but, have any one of you people given Hagler or Hearns any of your money over the years after this fight for their performance?

  • DAMN NEAR EVERY PUNCH HAGLER THROWS IS A BOMB. GOT TO BE HARD TO STAY UPRIGHT AGAINST THAT

  • Give credit to both of these fighters. Marvelous Marvin and Tommy "Hitman" are two complete warriors. Hagler had a head as hard as a diamond and was able to take Hearns' best punches, thus giving him the edge. Give Hearns credit though, he didn't use his broken hand as an excuse. They both fought like true fighters and deserve all the respect the world has to offer.

  • Pipino le hubiera pegado a los dos.

  • classic boxing!!!good old days!!

  • this is what boxing is all about....hearts and skills....

  • ....if you talk about skills...hearns is far superior...if you talk about heart of a warrior...its hagler....

  • and in tghe 80's guys wtd 2 fight each othe...wasnt bout money...pride n respect 2 both these guys...

  • Beautiful fight!!

  • Got Damn!!!!

  • hearns deserves

  • Hagler was the man

  • It just pisses me off that Hearns hurt his right hand. I just wish he would have gone down with all his weapons.

early in rd 2 Hearns hits Hagler with a right and Hagler smiled because it had no power. Shit!

With that right Hagler takes a beating even in victory.

  • @shire2005

Dude, Hearns said he hit Hagler with the best punch he ever threw and connected...and Hagler didn't do down...and more importantly, didn't back down. I love both fighters, the golden age of middle weights, but you have to admit. Hagler was a fricken warrior of the first order.

  • @Evocati2008 Roy Jones Jr. in his prime would've destroyed Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler.

  • @Rookerman32

    keep dreaming

  • @Evocati2008 Dreaming on what kid? A prime Thomas Hearns nor a prime Marvin Hagler wouldn't have been no match for Roy Jones Jr in Roy Jones Jr.'s prime. Learn about pro boxing kid.

  • @Rookerman32

listen ginger, maybe Hearns, cause his chin was questionable. But Hagler would have laughed off Roy's sissy punches. Hagler with a 4 TKO.

  • @Evocati2008 I see you like Hagler and all, but you're not thinking rationally. Hagler has no defense, as he leans his head in all the time. Yea, he'll be laughing at Jones' punches alright when Jones is tagging him with blazing, blinding speed, whiile not getting hit in the process. Jones is twice as fast as Leonard, and you've seen how Leonard had blazed Hagler's face with hand speed. Hagler isn't good at defending himself against speedy punchers. Learn about pro boxing kid.

  • @Rookerman32 Fair points, but I disagree. Both in their midlleweight prime, I have Hagler just too tough and too skillful for RJJ. Hagler was over the hill v Leonard, in his prime he showed he could deal with all styles of boxers. Would have been an entertaining fight one way or the other

  • @18RandyAndy Epic fail. Marvin didn't have a close defense, meaning he was susceptible to face shots. Also Roy's unothodox style would've just confuse Marvin.

  • @Rookerman32 Name one great boxer RJJ beat the shit out of. A 50 pound drained james toney doesn't count. Shit that's more than what pacquiao drains his opponents lol

  • @tjd1985 Hey, kid, has either Thomas Hearns or Marvin Hagler went up to the heavyweight division and beaten a heavyweight champion? No. Roy Jones Jr. has gone up to the bigger weight division(s) from the Super Middleweight division and simply ran over the competion, something either Hearns or Hagler has never done.

  • @Rookerman32 Hey, old man, what competition do you speak of? lmao He never had any. And moving up to fight 1 fight against John Ruiz? Please. That doesn't mean shit.

Hagler would have WHOOPED him good.

  • @tjd1985 Hey, kid, I'm the old man that changed your shitty diapers when you were a sobbing kid, and the old man who your mother loves for me to pound her.

  • @Rookerman32 That's what I thought. Haggler woops jones. Bye

  • @tjd1985 Show proof of Hagler beating Jones or delete comment. You didn't show proof? That's what I thought. Bye.

  • @Rookerman32 hey idiot , look up glean johnson ko's glass jaw jones . lmao AHhahahahahahahah

  • @pb8700538

If dumb was a drug, you'd have overdosed like your parents.

Hey, bimbo, Glen Johnson barely hit Roy Jones Jr.

Roy Jones Jr. tripped from trying to block and duck from Glen Johnson's punches and landed on the back his skull, which caused the ko, not Glen Johnson.

  • @Rookerman32 bullshit , youre making excuses . there is more ko's on roy jones . hey moran the definition of moran in the dictionary is rookerman32 . thank your moran parents for youre stupidity " ASSHOLE "

  • @Rookerman32 also since you want to make excuses for glass jaw jones those ko's prove how fragile jones jaw was , all it took was a tap to put him to sleep . lol AHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
