@DreamwaIker technically there are three proper spellings for the pluralization of octopus, Octopi (the latin version) , Octopuses (The english version), and Octopodes (the greek, or country of the words origin, version). Basically, when the word came over to the US it was octopuses, then in attempt to make english more standard it was octopi (making it more latin) but octopodes was always viable.
