I recently bought the album leisure with hesitation, as many have claimed it's their weakest album. but infact i put it above all of their releases just behind Modern Life is Rubbish. oh, and Sing is fucking tune!
It's 1990, and it was included on the album that came out much later in 1991. (BTW I'd been drinking when i posted you that last one. Sorry for the arrogant way it looked).
i do miss the 90's, there was a real atmosphere that is hard to describe around 93, 94 that is hard to describe but there were so many great british bands going around, simply isnt the same now days
Nah it'd suck if they did. The best part about Gorillaz was not knowing who there original form where. And because we know who's in Blur, and what they look like, it wouldn't be as better. That's my opinion anyway (:
He was just imitating Ian Brown from The Stone Roses. They were THE BAND to imitate right back in 1991. Liam was still stealing car audios by that time.
wow, i did'nt know that!, that's unbeliveable is'nt it!. It's an amazing song, and i think it still sounds just as good today as when i bought the album way back in 1992!.

No, I don't mean in terms of length, I mean like if every song on the album was a grunde parody song, and sounded AS GOOD as song 2, it wpuld have been one of the greatest ever. But it wasn't, and I hate blur for that. The Great Escape was bad too- the only stand out tracks were the singles... any sng on the Great Escape taht wasn't released as a single was pure filler.
I listened to Radiohead in college based on all the coolness etc surrounding em. Had to stop listening to em cuz it ws making me depressed. Radiohead songs are like songs you'd only wanna listen to like twice.
I love Blur, but I just started listening to Radiohead as well. I've listened to Faust Arp like eighty times now, which I think is a bit more than two.
You're obviously one one of those trendy rock enthusiasts who don't fully understand music. Blur are one of the few real experimental bands, their influences and sounds are very diverse from song to song and album to album. That's what makes them such a great band, they never really limited themselves to a certain sound and continued to grow even during the britpop years.
Most people just don't "get" Blur. Put simply, they're better than JUST making rock songs like Song 2.
Damon is very adept and writing lyrics and is very very knowledgeable when it comes to musical influences, he also has a very wide vocal range that he utilizes often. The actual musical arrangments are very diverse and not copy/paste chorus-riff/verse-riff.
The Blur album is an amazing album. A lot of the songs are associated with an emotion/feeling and lyrics are very poetic. The sound draws in a lot of dub influence and captures that sort of dark, Specials' sound in a lot of the tracks. Overall it ranges from mellow to dark with a token ballad (You're So Great), a farewell to britpop (MOR), a contemporary alt-rock song (Song 2), and a mindblowly mysterious/dark dub song (Deathof aParty). You can't tell me Beetlebum isn't a fucking brilliant song.
oh btw song2 was a gr8 song but if the blur album had every single sounding like song2 then it would get boring blur are a great band cause of the way they make songs differnt on every album u'd always expect something new from them take parklife for example

Blur came on the scene a couple years before Oasis - at least here in the US.

I often thought had the same thought.
Blur are an average band. Their songs grow on you, but not as bad 'grow on you' as some Radiohead songs do.
I thought the blur blur album was crap. Had every song been like song 2, the album would have been one of the greatest of all time.
coolstuff2003ad 3 years ago
No, if every song had been like Song 2, it would have been one of the shortest of all time.
