  • lose the mo bro

  • excellent stuff....Finn is a genius....most artists have a period in their careers that they go stale or lose their magic...not with Finn...the man has been consistently creative and turning out some of his best stuff in the present...he is truly an amazing songwriter....Springsteen is the only other songwriter who is still turning out quality stuff in his later years....thanks Neil.

  • Guys! Love to you from the U.S.!

  • saw them yesterday in Belguim to...they are in my hart and in my soul. In 2008 we saw them in Bospop Weert, the Netherlands, after their performance Nick walked between the people on the festivalground enjoying his bear. My husband an I were eating a slice of pizza and he came to us and we talked! I cant imagain any one else would do that, respect!! That is what make them so big...

  • saw them live yesterday in belgium and then met them after the show, they said this was going to be a summer song and then they would maybe do amsterdam as a single

  • What a cracking song.....watched them live recently i as always i was blown away....

    Quality!

  • Nice interplay of the piano against the driving drums and bassline...very nice....thank you.

  • Sounds very u2'ish

  • @pawnsacrifice1 only U2 are rubbish...

  • Thanks for the share! Seen them many times... Great song

Seeing them again in August here in Canada... Been awhile... :)

  • listen to this about 3 times after that its impossible to get the melody out of your head. The best songs are the ones that creep up on you .Met Nick Seymour last weekend before the show in Castle bar always wanted to meet him never dreamed it would be in Castle bar,its a strange world.

  • saw them in Olympia Dublin Ireland on 31st May 2010 and this track was definitely one of the many highlights from the night.

  • Just home from the second of 2 CH gigs in Dublin. They are very much on the ball again. This song is in me now. Also new song Elephant is genius.

  • great, but i'm still waiting for a new solo album from Neil Finn..

  • @seriousbe You & me, both, then. I think his two single albums (One All or One Nil, depending what country you're in, & Try Whistling This) are the most amazing work he's produced yet. They're deeper, darker & I play the hell outta them.

  • Nowhere near as good as Don't Stop Now. It's alright but that's all it is. If this is the catchiest thing on the new album then, well, oh dear.

  • @nikican I agree, but don't lose hope since singles aren't always the best tunes picked. I think "Nobody Wants To" was a beautiful, single-worthy song, but it never got recognition, nor has a lot of others from Neil Finn. Guess he's too busy touring the rest of the adoring world as a Kiwi, unlike American artists who can do more attention-getting promo work here.

  • @LindazEyes It's not that bad, it's just Neil & Co have such an impressive catalogue! I agree, they tend to have a few 'singles', which are for the hard of thinking. The gems are hidden sometimes: 'People are Like Suns' makes me cry.

  • @anthonythirteen A lot of his songs make me cry, but then, the combination of breaking up w/ someone after 27 yrs & Neil's ballads (I hate to call them that- he's not Neil Diamond!) can do that to a person...

  • Brillian!

  • Brilliant!

  • Thank God they're back!! Love this track. Can't say I'm loving Neil's Mo. He's always been like Peter Pan to me and now all of a sudden he looks older!

  • @elizabethread1 -Like "Peter Pan", yeah! He WAS pretty ageless for a long time, & now not only has half his head gone gray- fine, can't be helped, dye aside: older bro Tim's still hot-, but Neil's been playing around with a black Sharpie & has a crooked, narrow stache which I 1st thought was another joke from our merry prankster. He needs to start playing w/ the Wite-Out now.

  • Well, it's the first CH single that I haven't liked. Pretty amazing run. I don't know how you could call it a strong song... Where's the chorus? The studio version hasn't magically transformed it, either. That's never what CH were about.

  • The studio version is available on the CW website.

  • @imusbcraz Crowded House website..duh! ;)

  • This is a tantalising taste of the new album - a really strong song I think, as good as Don't Stop Now. The track is available as a free download from the new CH website, and the studio version has massive drums and bass on it - awesome. I love that chord change too - classic Neil Finn.

  • Good one. Still miss Hessy.. damn those black dog demons!

But best of luck guys IMO another winner..

  • sounds pretty good i can't wait intill the album comes out!!

  • Right at the start you get a little bit of My Sharona... ??

    Great song!

  • Great spot about the johnny Marr inspiration. I thought that exactly! Has an air of Woodface in parts aswell. Cant put my finger on why!

  • Great spot about johnny Marr. I thought that exactly!

  • booooooooooooooring

  • Looking forward to seeing this live in Orlando in July!! It will be my first time seeing the band perform! Can't wait!

  • Thanks Crowded house, for once again putting a great big smile on my face. Can't wait to see you June 3rd :-D

  • cant believe people have been knocking this, Surely by now we all know Finns songs are growers and after a weeks listening its blossomed into a cracker, Think theres a Johnny Marr influence here as well. And after hearin nearly all the songs from the new album through bootlegs we're definitely in for a treat. Great stuff again from the master

  • Fantastic Crowded House sound - cant wait to see them in Dublin in May.

  • Sitting here watching the new Doctor on Doctor Who and listening to this and thinking wow someone should put these two things together!! Didn't like it first listen and now on listen seven I'm beginning to fall!! (Situation normal)

  • It's starting to grow on me after the initial disappointment... Expectations are high following Neil Finn's extraordinary record in quality songwriting. They sound like a real band now: I think the backing vocals are very tight and I really enjoy Mark Hart's piano. But even as a die-hard Crowded House fan, I will have to listen to the whole album before I decide which tracks to buy.

  • I don't know whether getting happy for listening to a new song or getting sad for recognizing the same sound of the last CD. The song is just ok, but it doesn't have neither the power and strength of the old CH songs nor the ability to move

which Neil got us used to with his ballads.

I just hope the rest of the CD can surprise me and CH doesn't get stuck on this new sound they released with their last CD.

  • Groovy indeed. Enjoyed the performance. The piano parts are a bit reminescent of Don't Stop Now but this song is more urgent, with more hooks to catch us fish.

The song would really work as part of the 2010 World Cup promos, accompanying a montage of highlights.

Looking forward to the studio version, the album release and tour.

  • Paul Hester died on a Saturday. I wonder if this is about him.

  • I like it :0)

  • Sounds promising. No doubt the studio version will sound great. The main flaw here is poor sound from the recording reproduction on YouTube, so unfair to judge.

  • @HumptyDumptyEgg The quality really doesn't make all that much of a difference. You can still hear the melodies, vocals, different instruments, etc. So what you hear here is basically what you get.

  • Very disappointing. Basically just a rewrite of Don't Stop Now from their last album - which in itself was a dull song.

No chorus to speak of and uninspiring lyrics. Some energy in the bridge - but it all sounds a bit contrived. If this is the best they could come up with as the first single off the upcoming album then it doesn't bode well at all.

What happened to the glorious 'Either Side of the World' that was road-tested back in 2008? Sounded way better than this.

  • Wow indeed.

A very groovy song with a great middle eight.

    Classic House.

  • WOW <3
