  • At 3:22, is that a snake or a legless lizard. It looks like the legless lizards I have seen in Indonesia.

  • The description in my Italian commentary.

What it sees is a snake, probably the smallest of the world.

The family is Leptotyphlopidae, fund in tropical américa but also in other continents.

The so called legless lizard is easy to recognize for the disposition of the head scales.

  • @cayubaba Thank you for the explanation. What do you do for living? I envy you for being able to be in the rainforest.

  • I am Italian, but alive in bolivia from many years. I'm work at the conservation of tropical forests (biodiversity, managing, not timber products, participation of local or indigenous populations, etc.).

I had the idea of doing a series of documentaries on the biological diversity in the tropical forests and the threats to his conservation. But being the idea could not prosper (I'm alone).

    Ciao

  • @cayubaba. What is the biggest danger of being in the forest? Is it animal, being stranded, or disease? How do you protect yourself?

  • Dangers? The dangers are for the conservation of the tropical forests. But if it is a question of "dangers" for a man in the forest, the first one it is always the our same species, that is to say another man. The forest is not dangerous, or not more dangerous that a city. Of course, as the city, is necessary to know it.

  • @cayubaba OK, I know we want to keep the forest, and men can be dangerous to other men, but my question is what kind of dangers you are facing in the forest. In California, whenever I go to the forest, I try to be careful not to step on a rattle snake. I am going to a rainforest this summer, and wonder what kind of danger I will be facing.

  • Where you are going? Anyhow: the "dangers" in the tropical rain forest are very relative. Besides the others belonging to our species, when I do courses in the forests warn of taking care with, more that snakes or related, the nests of wasps (often hidden behind leaves), the great ant "Paraponera" (known with several local names) and the larvas of some moths (like sees in the video).

  • @cayubaba Thanks for the advice. I may go to the rainforest in Java (Ujung Kulon) or in Malaysia (Pahang). Not sure yet.

  • interessante
