@Leonefan Eventually people's interest in a human begin to wain usually looking for a way to dis-credit, or sully one's persona.......It is human nature to defete, and is the human beings default. Add 100,000 years forward before humans can be free! In the meantime, leave the Osborne Brothers out of the picture....they are a gift to human kind!
@jessilu Well, I don't think he doubts his ability to play; what he doubted was his ability to TEACH! It takes a special gift to teach. I hope he succeeds.
Have always thought Bobby's hats look so sharp. I was wondering if anyone knows where one could be purchased? Do they have a special name or have to be custom made? thanks
the banjo player is not sonny the banjo player is dana cupp sonny retired in 2005 after suffering a stroke that affected his right side after that bobby started this band the rocky top x-press
I seen the Osborne Brothers back in the 70's, somewhere between Authur and Speedwell (Powell Valley) Tennessee. A favorite memory of mine. Loved the music then love it even more now. Nice video my Friend !
bobby was a good mandolin player he was not the clearest player. i am good fiends with sonny, he is one hell of a banjo player he used some things back in the 70s and late 60s i would never think of but he is considerd one of the pioneers of the bluegrass banjo next to earl think bluegrass would not be bluegrass with out those two sonny and earl. and ovcourse bobby and lester
justdobbs: Bobby sounds pretty good to me. But what do I know? I know that on several of these videos he himself belittles his own playing. On one version of Ruby on here(where he was so cute) he refused to do a solo when Sonny asked him. But he now teaches mandolin at the Kentucky school of bluegrass and traditional music. Go figure.
Well considering Bobby doesn't play the banjo and he's playing the mandolin in this video (as he always does)... Maybe you should consider another form of music? Banjo is the basis of bluegrass, and if you don't know what a banjo is, you're in the wrong place.
this is great but that banjo picker is a little self indulgent

Dana Cupp on the ol' 5. Nice drive, and he was the last banjo player for Bill Monroe before Bill passed away.

Thats sonny. he has a different hairdo now, that's why he looks so different.

Yes, he has a different hairdo. They also managed to somehow make him about 35 years younger. It's amazing what they can do huh?

Bobby was never really very good on mandolin. It's all about his voice. It ain't the same without Sonny, is it?
