With guns banned, that little old lady will be defenseless and has to hope the 25 year old thug does not want to kill her. Because she has the right to have a gun, the 25 year old might consider that and not break into her home because he might be shot. She can hurt him and he knows it. She can defend herself.

This report is totally ignoring the fact that the US is over saturated with guns already. One state wont have super border security just because they ban guns in their state. As long as guns gets into the state there will be a gun problem regardless of laws.

There is also a big difference between types of weapons. Hunting rifles can be used for home protection, but you dont see many bank robbers using them.

A Mac10 isnt produced for home protection in mind... You dont need a 12,7mm for HP etc.

Federal presidential constitutional republic-is how America is defined by Wikipedia. Also If you pay attention the the Pledge of Allegiance "...and to the Republic for which it stands" To be a democracy various things would be determined purely off of the people's votes, that is not the case. Also back to the gun issue the UK banned guns and has a violent crime 4x higher than that of the US.

To me, the people should keep their guns. Live ammunition should be banned. Nonlethal ammo should be allowed & make it a felony to possess, produce or sell live ammo. Rubber, plastic or wood projectiles can hurt like hell. It can hurt just as much. And if a child should get a hold of dad's gun and accidentally shoot his little sister/brother in the stomach, chest or head it'll hurt like hell. Kids shouldn't die. Accidental deaths like this will be reduced.
