The right wing doesn't want to reduce the deficit; they want to bankrupt the country so they can buy everything up at fire-sale prices. They literally want to own the country lock, stock and barrel so they charge outrageous amounts of money for things that used to be funded by public taxes. This is already happening with our national parks.

Socialism, at least in most everyday usage I've seen, is the redistribution of wealth, usually equally, within the state, but it does not have to be controlled by the state. It can be simply a collective.
