  • .. I've got a Kar98k, a Nagant 91/30 (Fin Capture) but I don't have a M1903..

Well, time to head down to the local Milsurp shop and pick one up! GO AMERICA!

  • These 10 seconds was beatuiful, I don't know, how couldn't you like it!

  • @Alexraketezwei I never liked that quote, doesent make any sense.

A person who only owns one weapon DOES NOT mean they are proficient with it. (Quite the opposite)

It usually means they bought it years ago, and have actually shot the thing a good two times.

    BTW- the 30-06 Dominates ;)

  • @2142Unknown

I get up everyday and thank god for Springfield Armory and the 30 cal Model of 1906 ball cartridge

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 I would have my entire SHTF loadout be in 7.62x51 around a M14, but paying $2500 for a quality, american made, american designed .308 rifle?

Ill Stick with my M16 and let the 5.56 bleed 'em out...

  • 1903 Springfield is bolt action?

  • @CarapuceShiney It is.

  • @CarapuceShiney *Face palm

  • I need help. I've really considered getting one of these rifles and I am wondering something. What would be a better long range iron site, the leaf or m1 style (not sure what that ones called)? Please respond.

  • @superredhawk43

the M1 Garand has a longer sight radius than most rifles I know. M1's sight radius is by far longer than that of a 1903 with its ladder flipped up, so it will be about 30% more accurate. M1 aperture sights also have very decent click adjustments which will allow you to enter those things into 1000yd competitions with some confidence.

The 03 is my favorite rifle, but I use the M1 if Im shooting for score for a number of reasons.

  • where can i buy a springfield rifle??? please someone tell me!!!

  • @TheStickUpKid187

    try gunsamerica or gunbroker

    I got mine there

  • 30-06 man i got one they are a silent killer i dropped a deer from over 962yds away from a great distance youd be dead before you heard it

  • @irishpker27 - Wow, you're a real he-man, killing a deer. Such a hero.

  • Man, those rifles are getting rare these days, eh? Good shooting; no struggling with the action.

  • Ahh, the Springfield: where people with CoD syndrome rage at this rifle because it doesn't have a scope.

  • @eth92 true dat. Real men use iron sights. Matter of fact, i'm a CoD player and I hate using scopes unless it's needed (sniping missions for example), I rather stick to the iron sights. Same applies to real life guns, since you will always have the sights, but not always a scope :D

  • were can i buy this rifle i know is old but i wanted

  • @gearsofwarfan1243 There are 2 in a gun shop near me, one looks like its an original from the 20s-30s and the other looks like a newer but very cool looking repro

  • How could 21 people dislike this, this guy put five rounds down range in about9 seconds, thats pretty damn good!

  • nice marines outfit ,nice gun =badass

  • the more shots he fires, the slower he reloads. just noticed. figured i'd waste some peoples time by posting this.

  • how can you dislike a video like this? its fourteen seconds long and shows a guy shooting a 1903 which is what the title implies. seriously why is everyone such a negative critic? we need to stop busting peoples balls for every little thing.

  • @FerociousSniper Thumbs up for you. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • @FerociousSniper It was 23 english tards just jelous of the guy using a gun

  • @FerociousSniper I disliked this video because pixel number 665209 turned red, it annoyed me greatly.

  • @sethboy66

rewind it back and you can see it more clearly

  • @Dylanmg420 I did, it is still red.

  • @sethboy66

ok something wrong with my computer cause all I get is a green Screen but right when you see your red screen try rewinding the video by like clicking on the scroll bar

  • @Dylanmg420 I don't think you get the joke, I was referring to one pixel that is very very small as a joke. It isn't actually red nor do I even know its position.

  • @sethboy66

    oh ok

  • @FerociousSniper The buttons are very close and mistakes happen, so it's more YouTube's fault.

  • @FerociousSniper Maybe because it 240p? Use common sense.

  • Those who criticize the M1903A4 with the M73b1 scope need to shut it,as others stated its who's behind the trigger. Frank Kviatek could shoot a Nazi right in the heart at 500 yards with his - 56 confirmed kills 6 months

  • is a pulling the trigger??

  • gay.

  • The Springfield M1903 and the Mauser KAR98 are both excellent rifles

  • @Fragment87 There almsot the exact same rifle. Infact, Springfield had to pay a royalty to Mauser. :D

  • @bandman232 Yeah i know, but you always have people arguing which rifle was the best - Bolt action is a winner :-)

  • @Fragment87 True. Ever tried a K31? Those are nice. :)

  • @bandman232 Unfortunately i have never encountered one of those, i've heard of them though

  • Is this one of the most accurate rifle in World War 2?

  • @Sgtkillbot no id say the mauser kar 98 was

  • @MVCowboys34 i heard the schmidt-rubin K-31 was.

  • @jaxfromcanada who cares

  • @Alexraketezwei

True, illiterate mujaheddin have been using Lee Enfields at 800 yards w/ no optics whatsoever for 80+years.

I think optics and the soldier determine combat potential and ballistics are an added bonus, if people think that speed is the everything to ballistics they are in for a surprise.

  • @dukenukemthreed

On that note I must add that even a WW2 era Zeiss would blow a cheap TASCO out of the water.

  • theres really nothing special about this rifle..

except that america used it.. thats the only reason its famous.

  • Now lets see that paper target.. xD

  • @incognitusss why would you want to see an unused target?

  • @akdude182 It looked like he was aiming at something like a target. I didn't know, my bad.

  • @akdude182

In other words he was just wasting Ammo?.. gotcha ;D

  • @jaxfromcanada

It's not a "copy". To copy is to directly emulate. This isn't a direct copy; Springfield used the mauser action and modified it, so it's not the same action, thus not a copy.

The Germans invented it. The Americans perfected it.

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun

    Perfected how?

Magazine cut-off is useless, spring-loaded cocking piece, 2 piece firing pin, smaller safety, peep sights are too small for effective night shooting.

None seem like improvements, they screwed w/ a perfect design to dodge the mauser patent.

I love American ingenuity as much as the next guy but Cubans roll better cigars and Germans make better rifles.

  • @dukenukemthreed

Try using a Mauser 98k for long distance shooting with that heavy, slower 8mm Mauser moving at an incredible, speedy 2400 feet per second, eh?

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun

Heavier bullets hit harder at long range don't they? So its a toss up.

Also there is no "one way" to load a round, the Germans had a heavy bullet for armor piercing, tracers for MG42, and faster rounds for sniper usage, but the standard round was fast, heavy and 15 thousandths of an inch wider in diameter than the 30 cal.

We both know how most go crazy about thousands of an inch (9mm vs .45 debate) LOL

  • @dukenukemthreed

You have no idea what you are talking about.

The year era is 1939-1945. The average German sniper did not have the luxury of choosing his own cartridge load. The standard 8mm Mauser used throughout World War 2 was German sS. It weighted 198gr and had excellent ballistics for its heavy load, but still couldn't compare to the faster moving 173gr 30-06 M1 load American marksmen used during World War 2.

Face it, the 1903 Springfield was overall a better marksmen rifle.

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun

I'm not disagreeing to be a dick but facts are facts.

As for German snipers I have 2 words ZEISS OPTICS

  • @dukenukemthreed

The M1903a1 rifle with the Unertl 8x scope was able to group 3.5 inches or less at 600 yards with M72 match. That's 0.58 Minutes of Angle. With M2 ball ammo it was still 1 MOA capable.

  • @disturbedone5009

Not saying its inaccurate, but the Mauser had ammo with better powder, the best optics, and a really heavy 190-220 grain spitzer.

I have never heard of German snipers or Allied snipers complain about their rifles accuracy, heck Afghan hunters use a Lee Enfield for killing goats at over 600 yards! And the 303 isn't impressive.

  • @dukenukemthreed

The problem is the 8mm Mauser did not have the case capacity to drive those heavy bullets very fast. Not to mention the 8mm round is larger in diameter than the .308 of the .30-06 so for the larger weight the ballistic coefficient isn't much higher if at all. That means you have a similarly efficient bullet moving much slower which gives you greater drop and wind deflection. If the US mil could take complete advantage of the 06 case there would be no comparison.

  • @disturbedone5009

Right, right and right again.....But they DIDN'T!

I'm not sure why the Germans powder was so much better, damn perfectionists!

  • @dukenukemthreed

    1. The M2 ball was designed to operate in the M1 Garand which was designed to handle certain pressure at the gas port.

    2. 8mm Mauser operates at a lower pressure than .30-06 and could never handle the pressure of the .30-06.

So the 8mm Mauser at full pressure could not match the ballistics of a limited .30-06. Even with the "amazing" German powder it was a less capable round. Especially at long range.

  • @disturbedone5009

Researcher Ian V. Hogg's opinion differs, the Israeli's chose to adopt this "NAZI" Mauser to defend their nation until the 1970's

    operating pressure can be misleading.

A 308 is shorter than a 30 06 but can do all the same tricks w standard loads, likewise with 9mm vs 38 special.

Case width also helps powder burn, and some of the best target cartridges are re-sized off a short-fat 7.62x39 case, Only Newtonian laws make sense of this_and math, lots and lots of math.

    Cheers.

  • @dukenukemthreed

7.62x51 NATO was designed to replicate the M2 ball loading of the .30-06 which, like I said above, is a limited loading. It also can only do it with lighter projectiles, around 150 grains. When you start getting into the heavier bullets with full power loadings the .30-06 has a 200-300 fps advantage over .308(7.62x51 NATO).

The newer rounds based on 7.62x39 are also resized for .22, 6mm or 6.5mm. What does that have to do with 8mm Mauser, .30-06 or .308?

  • @disturbedone5009

The need to reach out and touch someone beyond 700 yards was pretty rare in WW2, for that artillery was preferred.

If you really want to win this debate I will let you have it, I got my nicotine fix today so it doesn't bug me.

    Its been educational.

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun It wasn't so much that Springfield made a better modification to the Mauser action, the slightly smaller and lighter 30-06 made it better than the 8mm Mauser.

  • @jaxfromcanada So? An excellent gun, innovated from an excellent design. Both are amazing rifles.

  • Springfield did pay royalties to Mauser, not for the action (The Springfield was NOT a direct copy of the Mauser 98), but for the ammo stripper clip. Go to William S. Brophy's book "The Springfield 1903 Rifles." This book has to be the best & last word on the '03 Springfield. I have owned many '03s over the years and have a dated 1909 made '03 right now. The '03's are great rifles. Thanks for the video.

  • in zombies its terrible

  • @TheZuba44 True ^^ but leave those comments for COD videos :D

  • @TheZuba44 Oh god just fuck off out of here cod bitchboy.

  • @MistrEgg YOUR MOM

  • I have an M24/47 Mauser and it is almost identical to the 1903 Springfield. I believe the '03 was modeled after the G1898 Mauser, which ended up having THE most copied bolt of any bolt-action rifle in the history of firearms

  • @jaxfromcanada but we didnt because ww1 broke out

  • you dont want to aim?

  • @jaxfromcanada not true they tried to make us pay but it never got around to court look it up

  • chuck norris can bump fire this

  • @skaterjrd99

chuck norris is scared of this rifle's recoil

  • @Sturmmann Chuck fears nothing!

  • ok zagstruckk this comment wasent for you it was a mixup it was intended for lumotaku, so sorry

  • Th is because it was designed to fire 150 grain projectiles! Using the Greenhill formula you can determine the correct bullet weight for your gun. For example a 220 grain .30 caliber projectile that is 1.35 inches long will also stabilize in a 1:10 twist. So before you open your big mouth again take a breath and relise you were wrong, it is the relationship between weight length and pitch! Just because a gun has a tighter or loose twist does not mean it will be more or less accurate.

  • The 1903 has greater accuracy for one reason. Its ladder sights provide such a better sight picture than any other rifle at the time, for long ranges. But the disadvantage to the ladder sights, is that they were not good for shorter ranges when accuracy didn't matter as much. The Lee Enfield was a good short range rifle and the Mauser stands in the middle.

  • everything five meters in front of you is dead.

  • "blessed be the lord, my strength, which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"

"my goodness, my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer"

"my shield, and He in whom i trust"

  • @jaxfromcanada They copied the bolt mechanism yes but the 1903 is a more accurate rifle. Also they stopped paying it after world war 1.

  • @Lumotaku there probably about the same accuracy

  • @Lumotaku How is the m1903 more accurate. The gewehr 98 and the kar98 have 1 turn every 240 mm (8.5") the springfield is 1 turn every 12". Remember just because you are accurate with 1 weapon DOES NOT mean that you are going to be accurate with another.

  • @zagstrukk You are probably right americans are just better shooters. Also the m 1903 is a better looking gun :)

  • @Lumotaku ok so the comment i posted to you was acutally for lumotaku it was a mixup, sorry!

  • @zagstrukk I own a few 1903 and a3 Springfield’s I also own a handful of mausers of different variants, so let’s get started! First i don’t think you know what you’re talking about a Springfield has a 1:10 twist, secondly, all of these guns were designed to fire ball ammunition the m1 ball weighed 152 grains and the m2 ball is 150.this means that the mauser, usually firing 175 ish grain(depending on the variant)WILL HAVE A DIFFENENT TWIST THAN A SPRINGFIELD!

  • id fail the marksman test in basic training just so i can have this instead of a m1

  • @jaxfromcanada

Does that mean the U.S. gave money to Germany to use a rifle that they would later have to use against Germany some years later?

  • Can anyone tell me where i can get 03 springfield? Like just a regular M1903 springfield no gunshops ever have it this may be a dumv question but im really trying to get one just dont know where to get it if anyone can help it would be apreciated i live in LA so theres not much gunshops down here that sell rifles that old

  • @RADDxSTEEZY Best bet is a gunshow, they'll usually have a dozen or so depending on the number of dealers there. You may need to bone up on CA gun laws. Most available Springfields are from the 40s, though they're basically the same weapon as the WWI models. You should be able to buy a working one for between $450 - $650. NM (National Match) and others in pristine condition are more - up to $1200 or higher.

  • @kaplanr dang the ones from the 40's suck wit the rear sights that look just like the garand but thanx bro i'll look into it

  • @RADDxSTEEZY Not all the 40s era 03s have the ring sight; many have the ladder site and grooved stock. I just saw a 1942 model manufactured by Remington with the ladder site and knife-edge front sight.

  • @kaplanr Do some of the 40's models still have that hump like thing infront of the ladder sight? I herd that helps allot with accuracy when not using the ladder sight

  • @RADDxSTEEZY

I guess it depends on the serial #. The Remingtons start at 3000000. Smith Corona also made them. Use the web or library to research what you want, then see if you can find at the shows. There are also online sites where you can buy it, but you still need to have a local dealer to have it delivered to. If CA lets you do that.

  • @kaplanr ok Thanks again and sorry about all the dumb questions but if im gonna pay for it it might as well be exactly what i want

  • I march with that rifle!

Bolt jammed my finger, lol. Anyway, good rifle all-and-all, especially for it's time.

  • Those 17 that disliked this fine rifle are Call of Duty dopes that got wacked by it .

  • @The1FastGP hahahaha. i like it on COD as in real life.

  • @TorchTexas the 03 was never in cod

  • @MartianMafia it was in world at war.

  • @The1FastGP there is nothing to like in this video.

  • @DRZEZNIK1 liberal?

  • @The1FastGP no way, just he hasnt hit anythink.

  • @DRZEZNIK1 yeah there is! a ww2 reenactor!

  • @The1FastGP In CoD 3?

  • @The1FastGP That was a very good game, one day i will get it again.

  • @HavocProductions1943 Lee-Enfield rock, i have one. But you cant really say the Springfield 1903 is a bad gun, because it isnt. The 30-06 is exeptionally accurate and powerful at long distances. Generally speaking the Lee-Enfield was a great rifle for both short and long range, since it was fairly short compared to other rifles and also because the bolt operates faster and has a 10 round mag. Doesnt mean the M1903 is a bad gun however.

  • @jaxfromcanada You are correct.

  • @HavocProductions1943 if you type lee enfield then there are plenty of videos showing just that... and why would you even click on a video that doesnt have what you want in the first place?

  • what a way to waste ammo

  • put a scope on it bitch

  • cool..... even though its very old.... those who remember it still treasures the moment of thar springfields

  • i love this gun

  • GREAT VIDEO! I COLLECT WW2 UNIFORMS/ WEAPONS ITS ONLY MORE FUN TO WEAR THE GEAR WHEN FIRING A PIECE OF HISTORY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

  • @mike26057 wow get a life fuckin nerd

  • @XvChriisvX Whoa, chill

  • @RazorCell7 did you even see the comment i sent that too?

  • @XvChriisvX Yeah I saw the geek that got turned on by this video, that's just the internet you know what I mean? but it's not like he offended anyone

  • @RazorCell7 pretty nerdy tho

  • sucks on cod5 lol

  • @MolloyDadda247Luke I find its actually pretty good on World at War, but i prefer the Mosin-Nagant and Mauser K98k

  • lol you could have let another guy reload it while you aim

    would be even more faster

  • @SNIPINSPRINGFIELD Dude the Mauser Kar98 was the original and the American version of it was the M1903 because it was the only reliable option the US government had and it was the best.

  • @DroPShoTShArPShOoTeR Actually, they combined parts of the Krag-Jorgenson rifle and the Mauser rifle to make the M1903, although they did in fact have to pay royalties to Mauser for the similarities.

  • @45calibermedic really?Whats your source of information?

  • @DroPShoTShArPShOoTeR I have read that information in a book on World War II gun designs (I can't think of the name it, I haven't seen the book in years), and also I was reading about the Springfield on Wikipedia, which seems to have that same fact in that WWII book that I read. And I should correct what I said about "similarites", being it was a modified Mauser design, with some features of the Krag-Jorgenson. I do say that what I said did not come out quite right, but do some research and see.

  • @45calibermedic thanks for the info dude

  • Finally no Call of duty comment

  • @Salmonluver LOL HE SHOULD OF NO SCOPED!

  • Dude, looks like you're about to drop it at 0:11. :O

  • my dad was a 1st leut in ww2. As I remeber he said that officers usually had carbines .....does that sound right?...and if so....what brand, model etc would it have been?

  • @inkey2 probs the M1 carbine :d

  • @inkey2 in the late war era all specialists (medics/corpsmen, technitions, tank peoplz) and officers were isued the M1 Carbine to give them something besides a pistol. But sadly there is no surefire way to tell which brand or model it was. the was an old organization called springfield research that may have kept that kind of information but SR was closed and its records destroyed

  • @maxjr4 well my dad went in the service when pearl harbor was bombed, and was out of combat w/in 3 months of being sent to europe, got shell fragged real bad, So it would have been very early in the war

  • @inkey2 sorry i was wrong i just looked at wikipedia and says that they started using them in 1942 so there was a big chance he saw and officer or NCO have one.

  • you own man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man that 30-06 is a blast. I really want to shoot an M1903, i never see them at U.K ranges, i want to shoot one to compare it to my uncles Mauser, of which i have a fair bit of experience with.

  • they were also wwi dough boys favorite rifle to because it was there only. But when the B.A.R. came to them in 1918 it was there favorite again

  • bet he missed all the targets. [¬_¬]

  • thats about how fast call of duty auto reloads for me

  • Dorkus Maxumus! Im a WW2 history buff and all but wow!!

  • @ev8d8 someones been wathin The Pacific:) ha ha

  • Oh MAN did that look like it'd be fun!

  • silent death is at it again

  • normaly you say a prayer befor you shoot

  • Comment removed

  • @kameronbc21 lol Pvt. Jackson

  • @kameronbc21

When you have time for it, maybe.

  • @Briselance loved that sniper in saveing private ryan....

  • @kameronbc21 Only if you're Barry Pepper.

  • @kameronbc21 what is the prayer?

  • @uogf if you watched saveing private ryan the sniper says a prayer befor he lays waste to nazi soldiers

  • @kameronbc21 yeah i watched that movie it was awesome i wonder what the prayer was

  • @kameronbc21 yau have this from Saving Private Ryan

  • @kameronbc21 I've never heard of that, could you explain to me why?

  • @acepilot1997 come on bro its from saving private ryan!!! a really great movie, where the sniper says a bible verse before he pulls the trigger. totally badass: go watch it

  • @Chowkin9 I didn't get the reference.

  • @kameronbc21 who normally says a prayer before they shoot, out of curiosity. I never did.

  • Best thing about that class and those units is how many movies we got to watch. Saving Private Ryan, Passchendaele, Wind Talkers, Enemy at the Gates, Sands of Iwo Jima. We watched a ton.

  • In Canadian highschool history class, we covered units on both world wars. We did focus mostly on the Canadian effort but be focused on every effort. We had to do a report on a famous battle and present to the class. I chose Dieppe. We even had to design a Canadian ww1 or ww2 propaganda poster. Most students didn't know to not put the mapleleaf on it but rather the Red Ensign.
