The well head there is gonna shift and the casing will come out of the hole, thats when the real fun begins. The hole will increase in size exponentially and the rate of fluid loss will skyrocket. BP's deep earth drilling was very risky and they already drilled deeper than they had permission to drill.
After the accident, massive damage and public disapproval, its perfectly reasonable to expect that BP would not be allowed to drill there again.
Thats why they didn't cap the pipe.
If they allow it to keep leaking dangerously, they can drill more without any public/government resistance.
Once they're pumping oil adjacently, they will cap leaking pipe.
Simple.

And with the pipe that they used, I'm not sure if I remember correctly but I'm pretty sure it was methane? but it was detected and causing something to freeze in the pipes and making them break.

This is a simple engineering problem and a long pipe that's all; BP isn't prepared to deal with the problem and hasn't gone all out to get the best possible help and the same can be said of the US government. I Do Not Think Burning wood or gas is good for our environment, I know that is not the answer. i know that because in mexico city, which ive been there twice and cars, homes and many other facilities burn oil or wood and now the biggest city in the world is the most poluted, when we fly over mexico city, we cant even see the city because of so much polution!!!

@testingway ok, here's where you fail; nuclear bombs, warheads, shit like that, has radiation in them. if it enters into the air we breathe, thousands of people will get leukemia, and die within a few months, maybe less, maybe more. you need to start thinking about the outcome if we drop nuclear warheads into the gulf smart one.
