it's demo it's doesn't use all of it's potential. benchmarks show it being slower (better priceed)then 8800 ultra, but just one of those needs 500W. while this was said to use 270W cross fire still doable. SLi on two ulra 8800 gona need that 1,300-1,500W just maybe more.

Ati should really improve Ruby's facial detail. Nvidia has Luna and Adrian Curry who both looks much better visually. Im sure the R600 is very capable.

BTW As you already read crysis runs at 20-25 fps at 1920*1200 on a single GTX. So you can have GTX SLI and play 40-50 fps and all the jerking of the world at 1920*1200 and let me play at 1280*1024*4XAA at 60+ fps on my low 1600*1200*100hz poor CRT monitor.And you go find the missing pixels.BTW Voodoo ruled.Bought from Nvidia so they have 50% respect.192bits memory bus 11 years ago.

Ok it was 1996, on my 3DFX Voodoo. You dont need loads of memory to run games at that res back then, 3D textures were so low res. Then when Voodoo 2 come out i used to play games like Motorhead at 1600x1200, perfect frame rates, and that had 16MB.
Fucking game consoles can output at higher than 1280x1024 now.. thats just fucking sad.

Well, ever since the 9700 Pro, I've played at 1600x1200; now I play at either 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 (on an HD TV). There is a huge difference, especially when one is using larger screen sizes. Other than just the pure eye candy and clarity of picture, higher resolutions offer the practical advantage of allowing you to see things in the distance better.
For example, sniping a target that's only a few pixels high with ironsights in Red Orchestra (or any other realistic shooter) and making out an opponents name in the far distance in World of Warcraft are some things that can only be accomplished at high res. Even the PS3, a freakin' console, supports 1920x1080. Welcome to the present.
If you are a bastard and hates ATI for some odd reason... go google Meatspin and click the 1st link. This video is nice. Btw, DX 10, from what i've heard/seen, improves performance by A LOT... Allowing for massive landscapes in real time like Crysis. But graphically... it's pretty much DX 9, but with no limits.

The graphics card market is simply about features and raw performance. People wouldn't care if R600 had a giant purple elephant on it if it outperformed the 8800 series cards. Since we don't have official benchmarks yet we will have to wait and see. Until then I suggest you consult a dictionary. Or get firefox 2.0.

BTW As you already read crysis runs at 20-25 fps at 1920*1200 on a single GTX. Ok it was 1996, on my 3DFX Voodoo. You dont need loads of memory to run games at that res back then, 3D textures were so low res. Then when Voodoo 2 come out i used to play games like Motorhead at 1600x1200, perfect frame rates, and that had 16MB.
Fucking game consoles can output at higher than 1280x1024 now.. thats just fucking sad.

Well, ever since the 9700 Pro, I've played at 1600x1200; now I play at either 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 (on an HD TV). There is a huge difference, especially when one is using larger screen sizes. Other than just the pure eye candy and clarity of picture, higher resolutions offer the practical advantage of allowing you to see things in the distance better.

Allowing for massive landscapes in real time like Crysis. But graphically... it's pretty much DX 9, but with no limits.

Scenes: 2-2.5 million triangles
Ruby: ~200K triangles, 128 morph targets for facial animation, ~200 bones for skinning animation.
Facial animation was done by filming a face of the real-world actress with a HDcam -> Motion
tracking to extract facial animation data.
Ruby's face alone got layered with 15 different textures.
Snow simulation is processed entirely on a GPU and can be dynamically melted or amplified to
increase the snow cover.

ATI surely knows how to make demos. Adrienne was just a gimmick. She looked ok, but was more like a Robotron 2000. Hopefully there will be something along the lines of Toyshop too. That one is still the best demo ever made.

Awesome demo. Much better than Nvidia's 8800 crap. Believe you me i own a 8800 and i know. Ati was always much better in both hardware and demos. I bet the new cards will kick nvidia's butt once more. But since everything comes down to a price, if ati asks for an arm and a leg in order to purchase the new cards they can lick my balls. Also i would like o let the world know that metatron is gay.

On a side note, ATI is releasing 4 DX10 cards in MAY. Nvidia has 5 MORE cards on top of the 2 current ones that they seem to be more or less sitting on until ATI releases theirs.
