Might I say that throughout the Worst Witch series Hardbroom has never been caught, she's always been invisible or the enemies were too afraid of attracting her attention (maybe except during the uninvited bit, but she was freed first cuz she was considered the most powerful)
Yeah, as characters only, I can't pick. As strict, dark, potions teacher, no one can be HB for me. HB held that place with me first. And of course, most who were into Harry Potter first (or only Harry Potter for that matter) are going to pick Snape.

They're both very advanced compared to the people around them, and the universes are different so you can actually never be sure unless they were in the same universe. As well, that has nothing to do with the character's likeability. Lots of wizards can kill, it's just a spell. That wouldn't impress me at all.

He can put the imperius curse on her, which would put her under his control, while he can also do most spells without uttering a single word....could kill her with but a few words and a flick of the wand, could put the full body bind curse on her, ect, before she knew what hit her. A lot of the spells on worst witch are too lengthy to make much of a difference.

And yes, while lots of wizards can probably kill, i`ve never seen Miss HardBroom use a spell like that. Do they even have a killing curse, or a full-body bind curse? Or a curse that would allow you to hold a person in mid-air, hanging by the ankles? Or a spell that could cause great pain over your entire body, ect?

Yes, I've read and seen every single bit of Harry Potter material available. I do think there would be such spells, but as The Worst Witch is more oriented for a younger audience, I doubt they'd show it. And again, my favouritism of HB is in her personality. I couldn't give a damn who could kill the other, and it's really difficult to judge anyway. Dumbledore is more powerful than Snape but I like Snape over Dumbledore.

It always miffed me that Harry is as good as dead without his wand, and when it gets broken, he goes into mourning. Come on, that was just a tool...The wandless magic HP wizards and witches doesn't impress me at all. It's unfocused and too rare to be of any practical use.

Girls in Worst Witch can make it rain, snow or hail. The problem arises when you have to control the elements you've summoned. That's the lesson of Worst Witch: you're toying with enormous power and it's only up to you to control it. Harry Potter has you straining to turn matchsticks into needles.
@ScarredSycomore In worst witch...you have the foster`s effect, however, which can make some spells go VERY wrong. In Harry Potter`s universe, things are more complicated.....more, believeable.

There's the Double variety: two parties casting the same spell on each other at the same time: the effect is such that the spells multiply and grow at exponential rate. There's also the Ordinary Foster's Effect (Misgone Magic) that happens when there have been too many spells cast in a small area or one after another.

It is much more difficult to transfigure into something specific, and Worst Witch rightly notes that conjuring objects is much more advanced. I think Worst Witch has better magic system, because we actually got to know how it works: it was explained thoroughly. In HP, it's guesswork: we don't even know how Untransfiguration works.

@brentlion think of the physics of transfiguration though; you are converting the molecular structure of one substance into that of another, if you think of it that way it does sound a great deal more difficult. the same goes for conjuring and vanishing as well, for you're changing not only the structure but the state of matter (if you think of it as i do as transfiguring solid objects into molecules of air and vice versa), the one thing i was never sure of though was the switching spell...
@pantstelly93 Switching spells are like the sub-division of transfiguration spells. But, on the difficult meter, most switching spells are rather low on the totem pole.....they are taught to first years. Changing your nose to a plant, or something, is a form of a switching spell.
@brentlion it's true the longest spell in the hp universe is 2 words long, with the exception the 3 word incantation used by malfoy in hp6 film to fix the vanishing cabinet but i don't count the spells invented for the films

Much as I have the utmost respect for Severus, both as a person coming from the kind of background and childhood he did, and as an astounding wizard to do what he did for so many years, I have to say Constance wins this for me every time. She's just... well, she's HB. Hard to the bone. Goodness knows what she lived through when she was under Hecketty's spell-casting fingers, but even though she is a powerful, natural witch it's given her the power to control herself. Severus uses cunning. x
I think Snape is scarier. I'd sooner have detention with Hardbroom than Snape. But I think Hardbroom gives the impression that she is more powerful. It was never denied that Snape was talented, but he was never singled out as an exceptionally powerful wizard; whereas The Worst Witch series constantly reminds us of how much more powerful Hardbroom is than the other witches. I say HARDBROOM!
There is such a thing as wandless magic in HP. And what does a wand matter in potion making, anyway? It's all about skill and instinct, which Severus has in abundance.

Both of them are pretty well suited. Given the choice, I'd prefer to have Hardbroom as a teacher. At least she doesn't kill people. One of my favourite clips ever on the Worst Witch is when Hardbroom gets gunged. Has anyone got that clip?

Hardbroom... vs. Snape, hmm... never really crossed my mind. I wouldn't mind seeing that for real, although if it were a compitition as to who taught more hard core... i think Snape would win. Hardbroom has her moments of being reasonably friendly or easy-going. Hope to see a crossover fanfic with them somewhere.

Both of them are pretty well suited. Given the choice, I'd prefer to have Hardbroom as a teacher. At least she doesn't kill people. One of my favourite clips ever on the Worst Witch is when Hardbroom gets gunged. Has anyone got that clip?
I reckon HP and WW would make excellent crossover fan fiction. Is it on the Harry Potter fan fiction site? I'd love to read it.

Hardbroom... vs. Snape, hmm... never really crossed my mind. I wouldn't mind seeing that for real, although if it were a compitition as to who taught more hard core... i think Snape would win. Hardbroom has her moments of being reasonably friendly or easy-going. Hope to see a crossover fanfic with them somewhere.

you know i though a bout this a lot. Just imagine if you had to have both as your teacher. don't suposse your witten a fanfic about them have you i keep looking but no one seens to write one. Also love the charmed music at the end.
