If you do overcut the sim, a simple small bit of selotape should hold the sim in the right place, not sure what would happen if you cut into the metal bit though... just don't!

Well just tried it, its not at easy it may appear. If you overcut it, which is easy with this template you'll end up with an unreadable sim card. If it doesn't fit snug then it will be hard to fix it. Not saying it won't work but accept that it is risky doing thia.

Why doesn't the normal sim fit on the template, before cutting it?  I was going to use the template but as the original sim does not fit I am now dubious about cutting it up, may try an old unused sim first to see if works and let other know.

@GDWGlos There is really no point to have that extra cardboard frame around your simcard, that don't serve any function but taking up the precious internal space of the phone. The iPhone 4/4S is that thin because of how they shave off the size of every components possible, every millimetre.
