liamyyy, well the hairspray liquid isn't flammable the chemicals that are used inside the can to propel the liquid forward are, all aerosols are flammable for that reason. I have made several 50lb thrust rocket engines that i have mounted on go karts, believe me.

u dumb butt the liquid isn't flammable the aerosol can's chems are!

actually it can work with almost any gas as long as its flammable and the gas i used was flammable cus it said on the back of the container and if it wasn't flammable it wouldn't even work!
