Mk one was such a hit was cuz most of the characters in the movie Fought and died awsome. rather than in part two where characters died lame ( sheeva, Rain). also in Mk one they got the characters right where as in part two the fused smoke with sector. what i didnt like about both ( especially part 2) was that certin fighter were mentioned but never seen and that they were key fighters to the series ( kabal, striker, kung lao).

and it further prooves its the better film when the late great 2nd critic team of siskle and ebert claimed it was the best video game movie ever made , was at the time the 2nd biggest august opening , and yes ed boon claimed he was very happy with the first film. the actors played their parts correctly , many fans still cherish this film to this day , and its still among my top 10 most favorite films. which is why 1995 mortal kombat is and always shall be the best video game movie of all time.

this film is still the greatest video game adaptation on film ever made , and it will never be defeated, never. nostalgia factors holds it claim , most recent video films used way too much CGI , and its pg-13 rating prooves you DONT need blood and gore and an R rating to make a decent film. the story was its main focus and most of what you saw was in front of a camera , NOT on a green screen. price of persia doesnt proove its worth in my eyes , and mortal kombat will always be the better film.

Look its understandable that they gave this a PG rating. they actually want kids who buy the games to watch this along with their parents. If it was rated R with gore and fatalities only a handful of adult fans would check this out. i saw this back in 95 as a kid and i wasn't disappointed. MK1 remains to be the holy grail of video game movies
