@robotrock909 Via legitimate channels, numark doesn't make the total control anymore, but I believe they have a comparable device still, and I believe that's in the $250-$300 neighborhood. The launchpad is $200. And ableton live, the edition I have, is $800.
Technically the led flickering is not due to windows multiplexing for the launchpad's leds is required for different colors and brightnesses on each OS. The reason why it is so visible in videos has to do with video framrates.
It's worth pointing out that you don't get Max4Live with Live 8. Max4Live is a separate add-on that costs extra (quite a bit extra). Other than that, thanks for the demo...has helped me make a decision about which bit of kit to get.

@djspecialkay it is much cheaper than a monome if that is a concern of yours. This costs about $150 while an 8x8 monome will go for around $500
