Let me let you in on a little secret: NASA doesn't make Google Sky. Your beef is with them. If you really want to see what's there, get a telescope and check it out yourself. If something is there you'd see it.
Well if Congress is anti-science, then we need to clear them out and get some younger , fresher minds in there. Some people that aren't afraid of the big, wide universe out there! I have one real article of faith, and that is that we are not meant to stay on Earth forever. I love this planet, I love it's people (Mostly), But the universe beckons!
@SeniorThe12 the JUNO spacecraft isnt a lander.... and yea, its unrealistic to "land" on any gas planet. JUNO is gonna orbit jupiter and study it, not land on it

@Mistersamsam exactly these trips into the solar system are way more important to mankind than anything on earth its finding out the truth possibly a more intelligent life form who knows, yet we are shaded by the evil on earth (govenrments) when will people realise we are just slaves nothing more
@NASAtelevision I think your time description is off by an hour. Should it be 12:25 p.m.? watched it on live streaming. Anyway, congratulations on the launch and I hope you'll get lots of new data from Jupiter.
Fly me to the moon and let me play (dance) among the stars...Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars...in other words, hold my hand...in other words, baby kiss me...
My fascination for space and the universe continues to grow. Man there has to be other life on the other planets out there. There is a history to the planets in our solor system that needs to be uncovered. I'm SO happy to see they are going to Jupiter a "alleged" gas giant Jupiter...its sucks we have to wait 5 years to get back info but hey ..one step at a time right? I'm also curious to the information it sends back about the moons that orbit Jupiter ;) Proud of you NASA keep it up!!!!!
Wow. Can you imagine traveling through space over 1.7 billion miles for 5 years and reaching the gigantic planet Jupiter? It would be cool if they could do a time-lapse video of the trip or something.
Great launch and perfect delivery to Juno's trajectory, but the video of the launch was destroyed by that awful overdubbed countdown that got grafted on top of the original Cape audio.
The sound of the intial blast, the continuity with the sound of the genuine Mission Control countdown and preparatory chatter, were utterly obliterated by this jarring audio shutdown and replacement with what sounds like a remote journalist. Where is the original audio? A vast disappointment to watch.
***IMAGINE*** The Great Red Spot on Jupiter's flank is a hurricane twice the size of Earth that has raged for 300 years. The storms that build on the planet produce winds up to 600kph and flashes of lightning 100 times brighter than those on Earth !!!
That was wonderful, I REALLY like these Atlas V rockets, they are great vehicles! The only bad thing about this video is that it did not continue until orbit >:o( What a let-down >:o(

Wow. This mission is a wonderful thing that none of us posting here can truly understand. And yet, the comments reveal the short-sighted, belligerent mentality of the average American today. So sad.
Some of these people commenting probably would have argued against Columbus sailing west. The NASA budget is one penny on the Federal dollar. We don't put nearly enough into it. If we had not stopped after Apollo we would be on the way to the stars by now.
Also, all these whining/moaning idiots complaining about how this is a waste of money...you're an embarrassment to the human species. If you want to complain about money being wasted, look at the miniscule budget that the American space program receives in relation to the insane military-industrial-complex that pours like manifested liquid shit over our nation's defense budget. Space exploration is not a waste. If you don't find this fascinating, you are missing the point of being human.
@mrspogg who said anything about Africa. As far as I'm concerned the guy just said there's starving people in the world. There's starving people in Asia, eastern Europe and there's homeless people right here in the US. We are up in necks in debt and you think the only people who need to be helped are Africans. You are so simple minded my friend. These space programs should wait until we have got surplus money. Only the ISS is worth every penny coz of its purpose.
@tinasheroy One can only concern themselves of so much. I happen to care more about space and finding out new and exciting things than some smelly bum who can't be arsed to get a job. Everyone has seen nature programs and says "ahh that's tight!" when some croc ears bambi. It's the way the world works. We put loads of money into staving Marvin and most of the time it's not even our problem. What about poor aliens??? do. We. help. them if we contact them? it's obviously our problem... right?
@mrspogg my friend go out into the world and see that not all people's suffering comes from laziness. for you to get a job there needs to be vacancies available. you dont just get up in the morning one day and just decide to look for a job and get it as soon as you start looking. some folks can stay up to 2 years looking for one. just because you've had everything go your way in life it may not necessarily be that way for the folks next to you.
@NASAtelevision No stop wasting money on space programs while we have people starving to death. the government complains humans are polluting earth.
