I am finding this film to be embarrassing, awkward, and ridiculous.

This isn't an episode of "Dead Ringers". Thank god. There's more authenticity in this film's script and in the actors' nuances than superficial aesthetics.

Obviously neither Jared Harris nor Aidan Quinn look a think like their real-life counterparts. And I gotta admit: Quinn's accent is, in particular, quite dreadful.

But at the same time? I think the two do a brilliant job of capturing the spirit of their characters. LISTEN to it, don't just WATCH it.

And always remember ....it's FICTION!

What does it matter if they don't look EXACTLY like John and Paul? You'll never get it entirely right, plus it's the story that matters. Minus the obvious artistic liberties (ie. this is a fictional interpretation of what may have happened), they got other details pretty well spot-on.

Lennon and McCartney saw and met each other many many times after the Beatles broke up in 1970. They even played and recorded together in 1974. The last time they ever spoke was in 1980 so this idea that they never spoke or saw each other in a fantasy film is a bit of an anti climatic moment.

Obvious that most of the comments here are from people who were born long after "the era". Forget about the casting, the accents, etc. Watch the damn film and try to comprehend the magnitude of the impact these two men had upon the entire world.

The fact is, is that the two of them DID meet in 1976 at John's Dakota apartment. Paul was on a tour of America and decided to drop-in on his old friend while he was in New York City. In fact, McCartney did so on many occasions, often clutching a guitar and accompanied by his wife Linda.

Oh my GOD...as much as I like Adian Quinn, this is absolutely appalling!!! The only thing he got right were Paul's little mannerisms..other than that, I can't even watch this for more than a minute before I fall down f' laughing...that pathetic Scouse accent is so bad no words on this planet could even come close to describing it. In real life, Paul always had Linda with him when he visited John in the 1970's. She really liked John and admitted she had a crush on him in the mid 1960's. John either had Yoko or (between late 1973 through 1974) May Pang. Also, John said that when Paul popped in for a visit, they'd talk about their kids, or gossip about old friends but never talked about the Beatles.

It's fact that they hung out together on this night, but what actually happened, nobody knows. This entire movie is made up around a quote each from Lennon and McCartney; all they said was that they were watching the SNL episode and considered going over to do it, but decided not to.

The scene where John says shite a pig its Paul is based in truth.Johns most often used curse was "Fuck a Pig".When John heard Comming Up on the radio the first time, he said "Fuck a pig,its Paul" and that inspired him to start making music againg because he thought if Paul was making good music again,he should do something better.
