It was 15 years ago, and I was there when the poor thing tied up..we unhooked her from the carriage, got her into the park on the dirt, she sunk down and couldn't get up. A vet was on the scene within a 1/2hour, everything was done for her, her heart gave outwhile struggling.

It is so disgusting that a horse cannot die with dignity without these ghouls trying to exploit it for their own agenda.

That doesn't surprise me at all. I can see the horse is fat. A horse that is overworked would be ribby and bony. I can see no marks on the horses hide, and I've never seen an overworked horse that didn't have collar, saddle or girth galls where the skin had broken down from pressure, friction and being wet. The one foot that shows in her picture is clearly well shod and well maintained. The fact that she has that on her profile just screams her lack of horse knowledge.

Actually, the fact that she tied up counter-intuitively tells you that she was well cared for and well fed. Tying up is caused by having more protein in their diet than they can excrete and commonly happens after a day of rest and eating.  Of course, you'd have to actually know something about horses and horse diseases to know that. You'd also have to be able to learn, and its hard to learn anything when you think you are the smartest person in the room.

Haven't you ever questioned the morals of something? For example, you might read about a raid on a puppy mill and think why would someone breed/abuse these dogs? That is how we feel about the carriage horses. The horses are being used to make a profit. Meanwhile, their lives are at risk, as they walk through heavy traffic in the middle of a huge city!

Horse carriage drivers are very rude, for the most part. They will viciously swear at you if you even question how they "care for" their animals. They have thrown garbage at me for telling them I did not approve of how they treated their horses.

I hope the horse carriages are banned in NYC. They cause traffic problems and it makes it difficult for ambulances & fire-trucks to get by. Additionally, they keep their horses in tiny stables at night and have them work for nearly 10 hours per day!
