Phil became one of the biggest stars in history, theres not much Phil hasnt accomplished since 1978. hes won Grammys, hes in the Rock n Roll hall of fame w/Genesis,hes had a highly sucessful solo career,he is an accomplished songwriter, hes had many side projects, brandx, Clapton tours, big Band tours, hes a great engineer & producer, hes a multi millionare ,its sad to hear the suicide comments, and his depression over his divorce ,the bitterness of his retiring , sad
@tylersnard I think the problem is within the recording device(VCR, Betamax or whatever). I've seen extreme HQ videos and sound, even from the 30's! :))))
This interview must have been filmed at Trident around the time of SO's release (Oct 21, '77, according to Wikipedia), during the final days of mixing of ATTWT. If SH left three weeks earlier, as PC claims, that would be ca. Oct 1, '77. According to Wikipedia, ATTWT was recorded Sep-Oct '77. Did TB, PC, and MR write, rehearse, record, and mix a whole album in 3 weeks? It seems unlikely, suggesting that SH must have been present during some parts of the writing and rehearsing. That's news to me.
the seconds out album, according to some books,( ''inside and out'' (robin platts) being among them), was mixed in august 1977, and steve left in the middle of the mixing of thdis live recor... so probably phil meant to say 3 ''months'' ago instead of 3 ''weeks''....
Just wanted to say that Phil Collins is a bloody genius. I don't say this about many musicians

Question.
When the sound engineers are moving those sliders up and down, is that them mixing and making that track in real time ??
Jez2008UK 4 months ago
@Jez2008UK that's them mixing recorded stuff, mixing in real time as it used to be done

100% better. I've heard Mike in another interview (much later than this) say that And Then We Were Three was their worst album ever. =P

The guy with the pink shirt is David Hentschel, who has produced all things Genesis from A trick to Duke, e.g. a pure God of the sound of music.

@pglink either that or those 'drugs' that people used to take in 'the 70s' affected time perception somewhat :-)
