@Razor4ever Now that is a very good question; however one I can't answer because I've not driven any in the line. Are you comparing the two for a purchase?
@TheRoadcarreview Im considering buying a used car for my parents. The first three cars that came in mind were the RX330, FX35/45, Touareg V6/V8. I've driven only the VW so far and I gotta say its a beast car, big with great towing abilities and shocking off road abilities aswell. The only downside is that VW's dont have good reliability, maybe due to the plant where its built, one is in Wolfsburg and the other Slovakia. Im so confused on what to buy now, its so hard.
@TheRoadcarreview Pt.2 The car will be driven here in europe and we have tough roads here, my obvious choice is the Treg, but then again I dont want my parents to pay loads of money for the repairs. With the Lexus somehow I get the sense that its outdated, its cramp inside tbh, for me its a Rav4 on steroids. The only good thing is that it will NEVER let me down.
@Razor4ever There is a big difference between each of the cars you are talking about. I've owned a VW, however it was in the past. My son-law had one and funny thing was 30 years later the car had the same electrical issues. He had to carry around a supply of fuses which I did also. We looked at the RX for a year prior to purchasing it new in 2004. My wife will not give it up. It is reliable for sure. But she wanted a luxury SUV.
@Razor4ever Pt. 2 I owned a Lexus SC400 for 11 years. In February I traded it in for a commuter car. It was the hardest vehicle trade in days of my life. I lost a great friend. In the 11 years I owned her and it was 7 years old when I purchased it, I replaced ties and in her last year with me about $3,000 replacing the normal wear and tear items that should have been replaced years before. I was ready to push her another 167,000 miles but the commute in the snow was not going to work
@TheRoadcarreview I've driven an SC400 and the cabrio SC430, such great cars!, the leather on the SC430 is unbeatable. It is very soft and screams quality. I might get one for summer cruising, always wanted a cabrio, especially a hard top one :).
Well anyways, take care, keep on doing reviews, they're good.
@TheGypsykilla Ha Ha, never really noticed it. I'll have to go back and watch it again. These earlier pilots are really sad any ways. Once I shoot and post I normally don't go back and watch them again. You never really think about how difficult it is to talk to yourself until you have to. Thanks for the comment though.
@XClone08 I don't believe there are any badges on the vehicle that states that it is an AWD model, however the 2 wheel models were produced with limits and really were only sold in the south. I'd look in the manual or just under the rear wheels.
@TheRoadcarreview thanks a lot! what exactly would i see under the real wheels? i guess it'd be pretty obvious such as to see a lot of components going to them to give power to the wheels though, eh?
@XClone08 Not sure if you already found out yet, but if the 4th letter on your vin is an "H" then it is an AWD. I know this b/c i have and 04 Lexus Rx 330 Performance package with height adjustable air suspension alongside of the upshifter and downshifter mode, and the 18" liquid graphite rims.
@tom11zz884 I'm with you...I'm shorten them to about 5 minutes and I'm working to improve the content, video and audio. The last review was shot at 1080i, however the audio is still killing me with my windshield mounted camera. I just know way too much about the RX since it has been in my hands so long.
The oher thing, you say that it is 4 wheels drive all-time. How did you mean it? It is 4WD, but front drive is alltime, and rear will start when the front gets on bad surface and spin. Right?
@BMW130ii AWD is all wheels drive the vehicle, to varying degrees of engagement, However I was not aware that the AWD was front wheel drive then the rears engage when loss of traction occurs. Now I'm curious as to the functionality. Thank you for the information.
I have just the same RX330, the same color, everything the same. Sold November 2003. Now 75.000miles. Just have HID, DVD in the rear seats, and other wheels. Beautiful car, and so cheap!
The headlight sprayers are because the RX330 comes with the xenon HID lights and when they get dirty they produce a glare. The sprayers spray the gunk off so there is no glare.
@TheRoadcarreview Do you have the projector lights in the SC400? My friend has that car and his have projector lights and they are fairly bright. One thing i have noticed is that Lexus headlights like to cloud up with oxidation pretty quick. Especially the older ones.
@bergi85 Here's the funny thing, the lenses are clear both inside and out. There is an ocular projection lens that focuses the beam, then a small bulb to the side. If you are driving in town at night you think nothings on...If it is pitch black they look like they are on just not bright. I have really good high beams, however people get ticked when I'm driving with those on in town
@TheRoadcarreview Hmmm...that is very interesting. I wonder if changing the bulbs would help at all. Maybe upgrading them to slyvania superstars. Or if you want to really make a difference you could buy an after market HID kit. Since you have projectors you don't need to worry about the glare from regular reflector housing. Just a thought.
@bg1379 No they are not. If you have projector headlights then the HID lights are not illegal. But the higher K is illegal and obnoxious. ex: over 6000K. You can buy after market HID kits as replacements.
First hand I am telling you that in the State of Vermont at least, ALL HID headlight aftermarket kits are illegal, because they are never the proper brightness, the proper color, or aimed correctly. First hand, they are illegal.
I'm thinking of buying a brand new base trim Mazda6 or a used RX330 (under 60K miles), basically spending the same amount of money but not so sure which one would be a better decision in the long run.
I've driven the Mazda 6 and really love the vehicle. It has a great engine, is stylish, and has great pick up. The only thing I didn't like about it was the gas mileage. It gets about a 1/3 less mpg because of the rotary engine. That's a difficult one... I'll be replacing my 1993 Lexus SC400 soon, however I think I'll go for a 2002 SC430 which will cost about the same as a new car. Strange but I feel it will be a better buy.
Actually this car competes more with the X5 and merc ML, certainly not the Chevy Equinox, which is an entry level non luxury mainstream compact crossover.
You are correct, however my comparison really came about from the cars we drove before we purchased the RX. We drove the X3, however it was a firm ride, but compared to the price, the ML just at the time were low on the service satisfaction lists...we didn't even drive one of those. The reason I made statements about the Envoy and the Equinox was the cost...most people just don't realize a Lexus is a very affordable vehicle. You can purchase one of these that will out last 2 or 3 othercars
How is it compared to a infiniti FX?

if you were to take a random rx 330 (04-06 i believe), is there anywhere on it you can read to see if it's AWD or not? thanks!

The reviewer is too long-winded for my liking, just drive the car, and tell us how it ride.
