It can be difficult to give to charity when you aren't making much yourself. Many people simply can't afford to share their earnings without jeopardizing their own living situation. Others are understandably reluctant to harm their own standard of living to help others.
Can you imagine the door to the jail or prison being opened, set loose on the street No where to go, butterflys in your stomach, where would you goAND ATLEAST OUR LITTLE CONTRIBUTION THROUGH THIS PROGRAMME WILL REALLY HELP THE NEEDY
With a home base which includes a phone and an Internet connection, it's pretty easy to locate helpful resources in your area. Homeless people generally don't have easy or reliable access to either of these things or if they do they don't necessarily have a quiet place to access them so they can make the best of them.
Having personally experienced Gods grace in a way beyond measure in my own life, I deeply believe that no living soul is beyond the reach of Gods saving hand
Jesus said that loving and helping our neighbors certainly including the homeless is equally important to loving God, and that as we do or dont help them, he counts it as helping or not helping HIM.
We owe it to ourselves as well as to those who come after to not only imagine a better world, but to also do whatever is within our power to make it so.
There are no social programs such health care, unemployment, food stamps, WIC program, housing, etc available to the majority of the population, so what can the homeless or indigents expect from such corrupted government
Understand why. Many of the visibly homeless are that way because of habits like drink. But my own family I, my wife, and our two teenage children wound up homeless for nearly 6 years. Most of the other homeless people we met (several hundred) hadnt lost their homes to that, but to (1) layoffs that was us, (2) sickness, compounded by how few government health programs there are in the US, or (3) divorce.
goes without saying that homelessness is not unique . And the recession has only made it worse due to housing costs and foreclosure rates, among other factors
Homeless people live on the streets for various reasons. Rather than giving the money and then walking away, taking the time to talk to them as an equal is a great way to find out what you can do to help them. Giving to the homeless does not necessarily mean donating money. Some ways of helping the homeless are to offer used clothes, warm blankets, shoes, or a hot meal.
With your donations, like routing it through VVW and ADVT , you can help me put people in permanent housing, tend to very real physical needs and provide pastoral care to homeless and very poor people
A lot of places I've seen already are heavily christian based, I'm not a huge fan of that but I am willing to put my issues aside for the need for shelter and food.
Respect the homeless as individuals Give the homeless people the same courtesy and respect you would accord your friends, your family, your employer. Treat them as you would wish to be treated if you needed assistance
always wanted to get involved in my area of Westchester, NY helping homeless women learn how to "dress for less" and take care of their skin and apply makeup etc. I am thinking of going back to school for aesthetics. Also I have been there in the past and I know what it can be like.
there will always be a degree of inequality; however, we cannot progress as a species until we can guarantee that at the very least, those dwelling at the bottom of the economic barrel can live humanely and, more importantly, have equality of opportunity to better themselves as human beings.
One of the best ways to help a homeless person is to show them respect. As you look into their eyes, talk to them with genuine interest, and recognize their value as an individual, you will give them a sense of dignity that they rarely experience.
As you can imagine, the unusually cold weather can be extremely dangerous for homeless people living in abandoned buildings, vacant houses and under bridges.
So how can we say we dont have time If our priorities dont let us make time for what Jesus says is most important, are we even Christians Still, today, with all our societys drug and drinking problems, be careful about taking the homeless into your own home (Romans 12:13), unless theyre people you know well. Try to refer them to an agency that is set up to help them.
There are many homeless people and there are many who just need some encouragement and need to know that there are those who care, you could just be the person to do something real great in someone's life. Go and make friends, give a homeless man or woman a haircut, a nice shirt, encourage him to get clean,
You can research the charities and government services available for poor and homeless people in your area and compile them into a list to share. Be sure to include addresses and phone numbers plus contact names and email addresses whenever possible. You can then print this information out to give to homeless people seeking help.
and devoting my life and resources to help friendless accountants gives me no energy (or, as my Christian friends would say, I have no sense of call there).
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,AND THAT IS WHAT vvW WILL HELP US DO
It isn't necessary to donate money to help people less fortunate. Instead, you can donate time, connections, knowledge, and skills to homeless people. While these things cost time, labor, and thought they don't take away from your paycheck. In fact, they look great on your resume and they are a great way to fill in any gaps in your employment record.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: Why should there be hunger and deprivation in any land, in any city, at any table, when man has the resources and the scientific know-how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life There is no deficit in human resources. The deficit is in human will.
So take a trip with me down this page and find out how you can help homeless people without touching your hard earned cash. Share yourself and make a big difference in the lives of homeless people.
This was such nice thing to do! Its so sad to think about how many people don't have a home, and don't have the ability to support themselves. There are so many people with out jobs. That is another reason, as to why people are homeless. vvw you are doing a great job!
Well i know that, i feed the homeless all the time in my town, cook serve and sit down with them to have a conversation, i carry money in my car and give three dollars to each guy on the road i see. im not saying its less important its just that ive talked to them constantly they like to be treated as real people and they like to have conversations, to me im saying drvining up and sticking a pressent out the window seemed like they were hesitant to talk or come in contact with them.
An act like this to help people is good WHENEVER. this video is to inspire other people to help in their communities. It's unfortunate that you are so miserable and bitter.
My family and I do this every Christmas aswell! It is incredible how many people there are out there in need and to see their faces light up and the joy in their eyes is so rewarding. Amazing thing youre doing dont stop! I hope everyone follows in your footsteps.
How much money does it cost to get that much stuff I would like to dothe same thing but I am not very well off myself. I'm doing it as my only Christmas present ^^
you don't know why any person is homeless. it's not necessarily due to financial issues. many homeless people suffer from pscyological issues or drug addiction.
Instead of blowing my christmas money on things i dont really need. i made goodie bags kind of like yours and passed them out. One man started crying because of the situation he is in and he greatly appreciated what i did. i had never seen a man truly cry until i gave him the goodie bag.
This made me cry. I was actually frustrated that I can't buy the dress that I saw in the store today but when I saw this video, I realize I am so lucky I have roof above my head and clothes on my back
I actually cried when i saw the video, knowing about people who dont have anything. & sometimes we complain for the things we have but we dont realize that people out there dont have anything.
the people who dislike this video don't understand that having the most basic essentials is hard for some people, something as simple as this can be a blessing to the people who need it, thanks to all 'dislikers'
this is just amazing. thank you so much for sharing this , I hope everyone knows how fortunate they are, to have a family, a warm house, food, and every other small thing we don't often notice. I hope everyone is safe, and hope the best for the people who are less fortunate.
I love this. vvw is so inspirational. i each asked my friends for one or 2 dollars for christmas and I ended up raising 60 dollars that I donated to the Salvation army. Thanks
Thank you for all your help and thank you for giving me tips that i can use in the future if i had more money to help others i would and i will save up all this year til' December to do the same thing
The work of helping the homeless is already being done--by viral view. The Mission refuses no one who needs a place to stay, no matter how crowded they are.
Homeless children are at even higher risk since they do not know how to properly clean themselves and have no facilities to do so were they so trained and inclined.
By helping the homeless as a , I see more than my share of the down-and-out. We find them in cities, in suburbs, under bridges, in parks, and on vacant industrial property. They live in tents, lean-tos, plywood and tarp contraptions that defy definition. Some of the homeless do work. Some have substance-abuse problems. Some suffer from forms of mental illness. Every one of them wants something the rest of us want as well: love and understanding
We are all part of the human race yet sometimes it seems that the most privileged among us are the most hard hearted and uncaring. If everyone would just look into their hearts and give a little each day, or each week, or even each month, the problem would be solved in no time. Homeless agencies are understaffed, under funded and over worked
vvw Is a real community helper, and we all should join hands
