  • @brendan793 If you're telling me/us that Zeppelin stole from this song you are wrong. Beastie Boys took the drum beat. And yes The Zepp took stuff in the early albums and made it perfect

  • My pistol is loaded - I shot Betty Crocker

Deliver Colonel Sanders down to Davey Jones' locker

    Possibly my favorite lyrics ever.

  • led zepplin's when the levee breaks is a cover song anyways.

  • @threeangels98 No it's not. They used a couple of lines from an older song. But that's all that isn't their own in WTLB.

  • (Led Zepplin - When the Levee Breaks) + (Black Sabath - Sweet Leaf) = (Beastie Boys -Rhymin' and Stealin')

Atleast they were honest about what this song is in the title.. there's rhymin' and there's stealin'

  • it wasnt really stolen, do you know how many songs use the same drum beats??

  • @400scrider It's all about the sound of this drum beat. It's fucking magic, so big and loud.

  • Did you know that Black Sabbath's Producer, Rick Rubin used a riff of this song to sample "Sweet Leaf"?

  • @MrArarat yup, sounds better too

  • isn't this practically Beastie Boys first song?

  • Where's the guitar riff from?

  • @globetrekker86 Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath

  • @xTFCxMarkyMarkk Awesome! Thanks. :)

  • The best lyrics ever for a hip hop song. It always cracks me up when i hear this song.

  • REAL rap !!

  • Best Album ever. Every song is great.

  • Zeppelin wins, sorry, with Sabbath at a close second and Beastie boys at a distant third. But, you gotta give them credit for breaking into the genre the way they did, they def. have tenacity and balls.

  • @MrJasonhenry7 your opinion dude i would say sabbath then beastie's then zep but then again ive never been much of a zepplin fan myself im not discrediting them im just sayin they aint my fav

  • @TheMetalmaster23 sceneboy

  • @cheapcape nope

  • Zeppelin wins, sorry, with Sabbath at a close second and Beastie boys at a distant third.

  • "Ali Babba n da four-dee Tee-ves"

Fu$#in record changed my life back in ´87... I was doin the smurf to school every day.

  • when the levee breaks have no place to stay (hamonica)

  • where would we be without this group.

  • This song wins because "cold" is used as an adverb and an adjective in succession

  • @daviddidonato i think it's winning reguardless

  • Apparently many people watching this have never heard of hip-hop...it's not called stealing, it's called sampling, and since you create a new song with it, it's perfectly all right to do (provided the new song is good). Ask yourself, would you ever actually mistake this for the song it samples? ...I didn't think so.

  • ally bubba and the 40 thieves!!!!!!

  • @PyroFeak86

"Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves" Not to nitpick ... I'm just saying.

  • this is just plain stealing :|

  • beastie boys!!!aguevooo!!!

  • Man, that riff and Bonzos drumming could've made a good rock song. Not a big fan of Beastie Boys.

  • Taxin on yall squares!

  • Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves!!!

  • @mbartley2002 This isn't a cover. This is called a sampling. If this was a cover they would be playing Sweet Leaf.

  • Look up: When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin.

  • this song makes me wanna bury some chests, you know?

plunder, pillage, and dig up some booty!

ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIEVES

  • Most illinest B-Boy

    I got that feelin

    Cause i am most ill

    and im rhymin and stealin!!

  • Beastie Boys + Sweat Leaf + Levee Breaks = win

  • how a jewish hardcore punk band made one of the best hip-hop albums of all time, we'll never know.

  • @slowpokecity they sure hold the beat ...and for me its one of my 10 top in life:)

  • @slowpokecity no autotune, real lyricsm and good production

  • Never forget this was THREE JEWISH kids rapping their ASSES off... and damn aint it still fun!!

  • Black Zeppelin Boys

  • WTF!!!

SWEAT LEAF + LEVEE BREAKS = Beastie boys?

  • Black Sabbath + Zeppelin + Shooting people in the face = best Rap song ever.

  • First rap record to use such a dope array of samples. Also these guys rapped about shooting people in the face more than anyone else at the time. This shit was gangster as fuck. I love it.

  • i had the idea to use this riff as a background for my friend to rap over. shit a brick when i heard this song.

  • I hate it when bands "sample" great music, and put it to a piece of crap. They completely ruin the art of music.

  • @namsseff I hate it when unaccepting music fans claim to view music as an artform and then disparage such a popular and fantastic technique such as sampling.

  • @namsseff

im sure you eat all your food seperately too, right?

  • I love how they just repeat "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves" 8 times in a row!

  • I loooooove titties! who's with me?!

  • @dungeonkiller666 hheeellllzzz yyeeeaaaaahhh

  • @dungeonkiller666 I like titties, i looooooooooove boobs

  • yo ho ho and a bottle of brass monkey! love it.

  • also sampled Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf and I Fought the Law by The Clash

  • It sounds like Boats 'N Hoes, except it's actually good.

  • this samples "Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks"

    use this information anywhere :)

  • LED ZEPPELIN, BITHCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Back there when rap was rap, not a easy money making industry.

  • This song is so raw and dirty. I love it.

  • I may be a huge metal head. I'm mainly into Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, etc. But I love crankin' up some Beastie Boys. <3 them, its the only rap group I like lol

  • @Sh00tsAndLad3rs If you like the Beasties, you'd like Public Enemy from the late eighties and early nineties.

  • @KAZVorpal I also like Run-D.M.C. and Public Enemy. Public Enemy is the rap group that did a song with Anthrax, another heavy/thrash metal band I love, the song is called "Bring The Noise"

  • @KAZVorpal I also like Run-D.M.C. and Public Enemy. Public Enemy is the rap group that did a song with Anthrax, another heavy/thrash metal band I love, the song is called "Bring The Noise" Chuck D and Flava Flav (:

  • @ihateniggers98100

Saint etienne sampled the exact same beat in their fourth song calico on the so tough album from 1993.it aint on youtube but you can listen to it on spotify.

  • Zeppelin+Sabbath=genius

  • Yes, pure genius.

  • License to ill has to be one of the best albums ever made, they had a lot of hits and not only that but all the other songs are pretty damn good anyway.

  • Zeppelin Vs. Sabbath Vs. Beastie Boys

    EPIC

  • Check out the video response "Krip Keepas...I'm a Krip Keepa" its dope!

  • fucking brilliant. They put Sabbaths Sweet Leaf over Zeppelins When the Levee Breaks.

  • @autopsy87 Wow i didn't realise the sweet leaf part. This is obviously produced by Rick Rubin. And it is genius.

  • ALI BABA AND DA FORTY THEIVES!

  • love ing dis swiisss cheeseeyy

  • no beastie boys... probably no pac, eminem, and wayne

  • @FieryAngel74 not true at all for lil wayne

  • The sample of Sabbath's Sweet Leaf is genius.

  • best first record ever

  • So GOOD STILL!

  • baddest song ever

  • They stole the beat and the riff, we all know. (That's what rappers do.) Yet they still managed to make it sound like the Beastie Boys.

  • When you think of "Ledzeppelin, Black Sabbath, and The Beastie Boys" they really do not sound like they would mix at all, 3 completely different sounds. But this made it work perfectly.

  • @SergeantPepper8 im a big rock fan and to be honest i hate rap and hip hop however this song kicks ass!! I dont know why but i really like this song. Maybe its because beastie boys started off as a punk rock band. Just goes to show you dont have to be black to be a rapper. Oldskool rap beats all this new rap of today by miles!

  • @BlackSabbathmad

My best friend is the same way. Huge metal fan. He dislikes rap but loves Beastie Boys and Run DMC.

I remember one drunk night he threatened to throw someone out of his house for dissing Run DMC when he put on "Raising Hell."

  • @theborder1 Damn, youre friend has a good taste in music!

  • A7X rocks!!!

  • THE BEASTIE BOYS FOREVER!!!!!

  • IOMMI KING OF RIFFS

  • Zeppelin and the Beastie Boyz, the best of both worlds.

  • Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives! Ali Baba And The Forty Thives!

  • -1 for typing lyrics as your comment darklink!

  • Sampling only pisses me off when the artist doing it doesn't make the track his own. Some rappers and hip hop artists will just take a track, sample it, and add nothing creative to it, pretty much surviving on how good the original song was. This track, on the other hand, is how sampling should be. It's originality and creativity stems from the mix and the lyrics, not straight from the quality of the songs it samples.

  • @ender1260 Now I like how you put that but honestly speaking... All they did was rap over an amalgamated loop. The Beasties are really not that much different from others before or after them. Their uniqueness lies in their willingness to push the envelope and how they openly married the rap to the rock music creating their niche. They are but a minute example of how to "properly" use samples.

  • yeah the Drum beat is from when the levee Breaks and loads of rap songs have that drum beat

  • judging by the picture of the airplane i think its safe to say that this song was made during ww2!

  • Try this, everybody; let's just ALL enjoy the music, ok? I happen to like it..Last time I heard, talent is talent..Either you got it, or, you don't..Keep goin', Beastie Boys..!

  • begining drums sound exactly like the begining drums in the song when the levee breaks by led zeppelin. and the background is the main riff in sweat leaf by black sabbath.

  • @afromann556 because it is the drums from when the levee breaks... and that is the riff from sweet leaf... thats sampling for ya

  • @afromann556 It sounds like it because it is.

  • @afromann556 - sounds like? dude, not to be a dick but they're called samples and you missed one. "I fought the law" The Clash

  • @afromann556

That's because they "sampled" those songs. The way the Beasties sampled did Zep & Sabbath justice. License to Ill was one kick ass album!~

  • @afromann556 it is that beat

  • @afromann556 That's because they are the drums from When The Levee Breaks. Not the only Led Zeppelin sample on this album.

  • @afromann556 cant believe i never noticed that's the sweet leaf riff

  • @afromann556 remember, there were no laws about paying royalties to artists if parts of songs are used in other songs. Many people in the 90s did this until the law was passed and everyone tried to make their own beats, which most failed at and others prospered.

  • @afromann556

It's called sampling and is kinda a cornerstone in rap music.

  • @afromann556 not exactly, beat a bit out of pitch / more reverb etc. . . but it's a technique of the genre.
