One of the main hinderances to cannabis legalization is the behind the scenes lobbying from Big Pharma. They do not want you to have access to a theraputic drug that you can simply plant, grow and use. This is why they insist on coming up with synthesized drugs like Marinol that is just not effective. Big Pharma is just one of the big entities that lobby, the lessor known is organized crime, supporting "law enforcement" and prohibition through donations from shelled legit companies. Man Up NDP!
I find it laughable that a Dr. can prescribe an opiate anywhere in the U.S. (don't know about Canada) but not medical marijuana. So many people die from prescription pain med over dose every year but as long as the pot is illegal I guess we're all supposed to be safe.
Very well done. Asthma is a good thing to mention because cannabis is a muscle relaxant when used in an inhaler and one needs very little. It's better than Ventolin because it has few side effects and is less addictive.
@Buntzums Very true Cannabis when ingested in an unsmoked form be it vapor or edibles can have an anti-inflammatory effect. I've had friends with asthma who could smoke cannabis with no problem, but I suspect if that goes on very long he'll switch over to vapor, after a few years daily smoking takes a toll on your throat and lungs, especially if you smoke heavily. I always suggest to heavy smokers to vape because its healthier. A little smoke now and then is alright, (cont)
Nevada Marijuana Initiative, Question 7 (2006) failed 56% to 44%. It's past time to legalize weed. I hope a similar measure succeeds next time, although I'm not holding my breath.
In an economic climate where the state has faced a sharp decline in gaming revenues, a tax on legal pot could keep this state out of the red.
Krissy is correct, drug abuse should be addressed as a medical issue, not a criminal one.
The thing I don't understand, is it seems the public has pretty much moved to the left on this issue for the most part.. Why the hell we still have the DEA and local police running a muck destroying peoples lives over this is beyond me considering the amount of support legalization would have, at the very least decriminalization.
