  • It seems like the attitude of most people in college is that they're there so they'll be able to make money after college. That's a bad attitude.

  • funny how if u want to become president like obama, u need a college degree...if u want to make money east and fast buy or make ur own business... without a degree u need lots of help and creativity and knowledge of your own..Most PEOPLE CANNOT NOR HAVE THESE QUALITIES NOR DO THEY WANT TO TAKE THESE RISKS<<<SOO THT Y WE GO TO COLLEGE TO TAKE THE WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE EASIER WAY INTO OUR REALITY

  • your a smart guy. What do you do for a living? I'm not sure what i want to do yet.

  • You are promulgating the one dollar lie: that you don't need to go to college to get a good job. Getting a college education has nothing to do with getting a job. The skills required for obtaining and holding down a job are different from the skills required to do well academically in college. If you want a job, get a job. if you want an education, go to college. You want to live in some anti-college fantasy world where a formal education doesn't matter. Time to wake up.

  • Read the book "Money for Nothing" , which is about someone who worked in the lump sum industry (purchasing lottery annuities from winners). This reminds me of how states oversell their lotteries--ie. when you win a million in the lottery, you don't get a million all at once--you get a check for $40,000 a year for 20 years--and those years go by fast. A college degree may not even get you that much.

  • That's an interesting comparison. Thanks for your comment.

  • I would agree its a lie.......... BA then MD then Ph.D.. then law school......... this is what one of my philosophy law professors said he went through.

  • Hey,

I heard you mentioned in your other videos that you have significant amount of debt. How much debt do you owe at the moment?

  • It's about average for a typical college student - in the low five figures.

  • I'm looking for current statistics

    there's an article

"Unemployed College Grads Outnumber High School Dropouts"

    on a site called savvysugar

it's from december but it says ..

    look at the title

I'm interested in finding the statistics on this now because I feel it's much worse than 6 months ago.

Can you look into this maybe?

    thanks

  • I found that article. Thanks a lot!

I'll do a report on it and try to find more current stats.

  • THIS MESSAGE YOU ARE SAYING IN THIS VIDEO NEEDS TO GET OUT ABROAD!

Many think that getting a bachelors degree is everything in life to be a sucess...awesome video!

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • I'm sorry but this just makes me SICK,

I went to talk to a counselor today and I was bringing up these issues you talk about on your videos. At first he told me that my degree in the end will be worth all the time I'm there. Then when I told him about the many graduates with no jobs and some working at mcdonalds or a job they could have gotten out of HS, he was just quiet! The school wants me to take out a $8,000 loan for Sophmore year and in the end, I will have a mountain of DEBT!

  • It's easy for a counselor to say it's worth it. They have cushy government jobs. I highly recommend NOT getting into debt for school. Trust me - I've missed a lot of great opportunities because of paying off student loan debt.

  • lucky to realize this before it's too late

  • It seems that we have all been lied to. For example, colleges ARE businesses and we are always told to go to college in HS and what gets me pissed is that I worked my ass off for entry at the university but I did not go due to some events. I used to look at those events as unfortunate, but now I see them as if they saved me...because if i would have gone, I would have been in about 18K in debt while right now Im at 0 debt! NADA! BUT I am transferring this Fall. Transfer from Junior College.

  • i know I told somebody a few months ago colleges are basically corporations they need to feed you massive quantities of propaganda to make you feel advancing in society and getting a great job can only be done with a college degree this is false and they know it but they need our money if we don't believe it is needed they don't exist good move I went to a community college transferred to a university and had half my courses done It was too expensive and i went to a state school eventually
  • I'm transferring to a state school as well. What gets me pissed about that article in the video is that guy saying that it is an investment that is worth it. Ummm, every investment that one makes in life is a RISK! That is why it is called an investment, and the way things are looking, college is an "investment" im considering not taking if I have to take out loans from Sallie Mae.

  • even knowing how useless it has been I still would finish because I don't want to waste money and have only part of a useless thing

I heard they were going to get rid of private loans, now. Hopefully they did

I'm unemployed. about to live in my car, rarely eat but sallie mae in India laughs at me

    when I call

"haha, you can't defer private loans"

they new guidelines every time I called

so I have to pay them still

I'd like to choke that sallie mae bitch

  • Way to go mabye you can get some signatures on your letters as well :)

  • That's a good idea. The more the better.
